Yes! I can’t wait to do this I was looking for just a tie die t-shirt because I didn’t think there would be that many Fourth of July ones! Little did I know! Thanks! Stay Safe!
HIYA! Do you still use Sodium Alganate when dying? Would love to see you explain that a little more in a video when you're using it! This video (watching here on 3/15/22) was the first time I've ever heard of it! Thanks!!!!
Hi Zoooma and thanks for your question. So I only use Sodium Alginate for thick water or thick water dye which is something I hardly do anymore. It is very useful and a lot of Tie dyers actually use it with all of their projects. I have a video here that explains exactly what it is and how to make it along with many other useful tips and tricks… ruclips.net/video/ZBWc0xEVit4/видео.html I hope this helps 😊💜
I actually do. Pretty much everything. Everything I have available at the moment is on my website... www.riahstiedye.com And I also take custom orders on my Facebook which is also Riahs Tie Dye!😊💜
Sodium Alginate is a thickener used in the food industry but with Tie dye you can use it to thicken water or thicken dye to help prevent bleeding and keep the dye placement where you want it. The only downside is because it’s thicker you have to really push the dye down into the material for it to soak all the way through. I hope this helps😊
I let the shirt sit for 24 hours after dyeing then after rinsing I soaked in hot water with Dawn dish soap to help keep the white area white for about a half hour, switched the water then repeated one more time and after that I washed with Synthrapol textile detergent in the washer. Hope this helps😊
@@RiahsTieDye THANK YOUUU! Do you do anything with soda ash? I’m trying to find something similar to sodium alginate. Maybe a thickener or corn starch? After you let it sit in hot water do you rinse it til it’s clear before washing it? Thank you so much for your responsiveness 😊😊
You’re very welcome and I soak all my materials in soda ash for 20 minutes before spinning out in the washer and tiring up damp. The rinsing comes before the reveal but I rinse as much as possible. In between dawn dish soap baths as well. The more excess dye you can remove before washing the better😊💖
I have tried other things but I have found that the sodium alginate does work the best. I actually have a video where I show exactly how to make the thick water and thick water dye and the materials required. That video is here if you’re interested... ruclips.net/video/ZBWc0xEVit4/видео.html I also have links in the description box of my videos in case there’s something you need that I mention. I hope all this helps💛💕
@@RiahsTieDye yes it absolutely does! I was looking for your video but I couldn’t find it..welp I’m going to try corn starch instead of sodium alginate bc I can’t seem to find any at stores around my area..everything else I have! Thanks so much for your video and comments!
Thank you for your question. Soda ash is the mixture you use to soak the material in before applying the dye to it. Sodium Alginate is a thickener that is a food product that you mix with water to create thick water and when applied to the material makes it harder for the dye to penetrate and seep intro that area. So in most cases to keep the white part white and prevent the dye from bleeding into it. Hope this explains it and helps😊
The shirt is still damp when I apply the dye to it but I have found recently that there is less bleeding if you Tie the shirt up damp, let it dry out, then apply the dye. Hope this helps😊
Hi and thank you for your question. So the best way to explain it is actually in a video I made awhile ago with some other useful tips and tricks inside of it but I go over the thick water in detail. That video is here... ruclips.net/video/ZBWc0xEVit4/видео.html 😊💜
