Yes... His reaction was truly human... He clearly loved Hinawa with all his body and soul... Losing her made him snap. Not saying that what he did was good or anything, but you could understand why he did what he did.
Straight up one of the most shocking and emotional scenes I've ever seen in a game. I'd always heard of this game's reputation for its amazing story and how sad it could be, but after playing through about an hour of somewhat lighthearted intro I wasn't convinced. But then this opening twist happened, and I finally understood all the hype. Incredible how such raw, unadulterated emotion can be communicated through primitive 16 bit sprites and music. I haven't completed MOTHER 3 yet, but this moment made me want to.
the anger from the lack of control the depression from the weight of the news the bittersweetness of knowing she didn't die for nothing all clashed together to a confusion
A couple of years back, I was undergoing a major examination. Right around that time, my grandfather fell ill. For a period of time I was juggling between going to school and going to grandpa on and off. When I heard he passed away shortly before the start of my math paper, I was heartbroken but somehow steeled myself to press on with the paper, I don't know how. For a couple of days I had trouble processing my emotions and I couldn't Mourn for his death but I remember stumbling into this ost and it felt somehow like my thoughts had been translated to music. For the first time I cried and mourn for him. I didn't know about mother 3. But thanks to this soundtrack I did and the story resonated with me. Nowadays when I come back to it it brings me a sense of comfort.
Oh man, I’ve been waiting with baited breath for this one. Though I must ask, doesn’t the sound of the thunder play during the second note, not the very first one? Or was that just an artistic choice like the added strings, which sound nice btw.
It was more of an artistic choice! I didn't wanna startle people with a random thunderstrike further into the intro so I decided to place it at the first note instead. Also thank you, I based them off the MOTHER 3i arrangement of this song!
The amount of love poured into these Mother 3 restorations warms my heart...seriously. You are legit the reason i started the covers of mine. Keep doing good my man. Kudos. :)
This makes me remind of when my mother go out at the middle of the night and my younger sister ask me when our mother will come back. I just answered i don't know and lay with her to sleep, i put this song while i need to cry until this day.
If there is anything sadder than this, ANYTHING at all..... It's all those people still waiting for an official release and havent even reached this part yet.
Y'know I remember when the Mother Restored tracks were first coming out and I remember being so excited for this one to be restored next. I'd check the page so often to see when it'd be up. I hold this track pretty dear to me and anywhere on youtube you can't get a good listen without Gameboy quality, so I was pretty hype to say the least. Since then I'd forgotten and it's been out for two whole years now. It's only a couple of years later and a lot has changed for me since then. It's just kinda neat stumbling upon something that, I truly feel I'd only just been on the edge of my seat for. Time moves so fast these days.
Idk why but I always felt like there was a happy version of this song with a more upbeat pitch, called Assurance or something. Like they Found Hinawa unconcious, but alive and bruised from the Drago.
In all fairness, Bronson was extremely childish with how he delivered the life altering news so I just Flint was mildly justified to be both pissed and sad
The piece is in C Major. It uses the iii7 chord, which is a mediant chord. This made me feel confused about where the tonal center of the piece was. I have perfect pitch and can normally easily tell where the tonal center of a piece is, but I struggled a little with this. I felt confusion.
Do you plan on making versions of these songs with an echo/sustain effect? I feel like the strange GBA echo is a part of Mother 3's feel, and it almost seems like the songs were designed around it, the raw samples without echo here seem a bit too short imo
Shit, now it's just called 3.
💀
Nah, call it III
Then there were Three.

The most surprising thing about Chapter 1 wasn't Hinawa's death.
It was how human Flint's reaction was.

Watch this, Lucas. You can just pinpoint the moment his heart rips into two!

My god it’s worth it I just beat it a while ago and it was AMAZING
how's the progress? did you finished it?
It's the greatest piece of art of all time, not video game, art itself.
I love this comment but I believe the GBA is 32 bit.

we got the dog as a playable party member, but at what cost

I'm sorry for your loss. Here's to moving forward.
The first 8 seconds are the best part of the song, in just 6 notes they managed to convey the utter dismay, shock, and anguish Flint felt
Absolute genius. It perfectly captures Flint’s emotions. One of my favorite songs in the OST.
Damn, I was braced for this one too, and it still hits hard, these arent tears...its just the rain

I don’t blame flint when he got angry,I can’t imagine what it’s like for him to lose his loving wife, always caring for everyone,he really love her😢

this game is so dang cool, it all feels so personal. especially this scene in particular, it just hits so close to home
You know you’re cooked when you listen to this on a consistent basis

I remember liking this one a lot during my early playthroughs of Mother 3.
Thanks for yet another amazing restoration.
The amount of emotion in this one track is. Heavy.
When I saw that moment in the game, I couldn't hold back the tears... 😢
This track always reminded me of Chrono Trigger. I’m near positive that Mother 3’s OST was at least somewhat inspired by that game.

honestly this ost conveys a lot of feeling, just listening to it you can feel Flint's pain
when you get confused or something idk i never played the game
I saw this on the playlist and immediately hesitated. I’m still not sure I was ready for it.
The thunder roll at the beginning.

for me, nothing has captured the feeling of heartbreak quite like the first few piano notes of this song
Those first chords shoot through ur emotions like lightning. I made such a bad mistake of naming my party after loved ones when I first started o_O
