Here's a tip for monk players to earn free power charges without having to manually use killing palm every time to gain a charge. Because later on it can be really harmful by repositioning yourself in a place you dont want to be and you end up dying. And monks are pretty squishy until later on so positioning is pretty important. Also using killing palm is a very slow and tedious method of gaining power charges So you only need to be around level 26 for it to work. And make sure you have at least 30 spirit free. But it requires you to use ice strike / tempest flurry as your primary attack for it to work effectively. There's a persistent buff skill called combat frenzy. I has a 30 spirit requirement. Basically it grants you a frenzy charge each time you freeze, electrocute or pin an enemy. Then there is a notable skill in the passive skill tree called 'Resonance' - and it's fairly easy to reach if you're a monk. What resonance does is convert Frenzy charges to Power Charges. So each time you freeze or electrocute - which is practically once every attack rotation if you've added the right support gems - you get a free power charge! Personally I prefer using ice strike for the cc. And it also works really well with shattering palm and herald of ice. The best skill IMO to use your power charges is Charged Staff. So this is how my rotation goes: Shattering palm (initiator / gap close) > ice strike > gain charges > charged staff > ice strike > gain more charges > maintain charged staff uptime > repeat. You're extremely fast and mobile and most monsters are dead before they can even hit you. And bosses simply melt with the bell.. Only issue is mana regen. So you might want to look for mana regen / mana leech / gain mana on kill mods if you want maintain the constant mobility and uptime.. Hope someone finds his useful
@@Sudado Ahh yes I kinda forgot when you start getting spirit gems of that level. Even ice strike and tempest flurry I think requires level 4/5 skill gem which you get past level 30 or something
Thank you for making this video. Was looking for some information on monk without being told what the best build is. I feel that the funnest part about these games if finding the best build yourself, so I appreciate it!
Tempest bell is a total boss and mob killer if you get ruthless and martial tempo on it and then apply statuses to it using a frost or lightning (or both) strike skill. Really one of the best concentrated DPS skills for monk. Combine with an anti-stun charm and you can chop of 25% of boss health bars in one bell cast. FWIW, ice strike doesn't build the combo for the bell but tempest flurry does. I use both on my frost monk bc now and then something will be frost resistant.
I have cold and lightening and a hood that ignites enemies near me. My bell cycles through lightening, ice and fire. It’s disgusting just how quick I can melt bosses with all of that and I am just now in early act 3. I wish I could dupe my hood and pass it out to fellow monks. It’s great.
Damn I guess I'm one of the few that's used a staff the whole time. Doing ssf I'm lvl 61, super glass cannon tbh but I immediately freeze basically everything including bosses, I am at 149 deaths tho 😅 almost to act 3 on cruel
@@dogs-game-too Monk is fun bc it’s a hybrid class: you get to bonk AND do spells, maybe add a bow, but also move hella fast and do elementals? Sign me up! #allthethings
I'm a bit surprised that the mbell skill wasn't mentioned here. It does take some getting used to, but it absolutely wrecks most bosses. It's been my main go to for crazy dps.
I’ve been scouring the passive tree and I can’t wait for the other classes to be released. I think the assassins or shadow whatever will be a fun class to play.
Combat frenzy, charged staff, ice strike, herald of ice. Teleport to your enemies immediately freezing and shattering them. Yeah it gets pretty crazy lol
@@TopHashira Yes really. U drop that down in Acts 1 & II and u can delete most bosses. You don't even have to be in melee range as u can still hit with Glacial Cascade if you want to keep some distance.
Storm wave is a very strong general mapping attack, but it seems like it's currently in a bad state in regards to how often attacks fizzle because they are clipped by terrain. A small stair-case or decorative element in the map like a mushroom or cart will hard-stop your attack, even in some cases where projectile-based enemies can still wreck you, while your attacks disappear because they hit a few pixels of the map boundary.
Hey guys, Great start guides series! For when can we expect in debt videos like you do for ER ? I can see you doing a build for Campaign, evolving it into cruel, and finishing with an end game one. It's a very complex game, and I reckon it is going to change a lot fast, I understand if you are on the back foot for this and waiting for the release. Happy Holidays team!
Early levels (15-20) Tempest Bell and Shattering Palm. Either use Tempest bell or other skills to build up stun. Hit 'em with a Shattering Palm for Heavy Stun. Throw down the Bell and absolutely pwn bosses. I think it's even more effective if you're using the flurry skills on the bell vs. the simple staff strike.
@@kennethsjvold9212 This is the way... only missing the ice dash move for bigger teleports and to add to the AoE explosions. You can literally warp from mob to mob, exploding almost everything in a single hit. Hit a rare pack? Just drop the bell for an insta-clear. Things that don't instantly die are frozen, leaving them only a couple safe swings away from finishing.
Can anyone elaborate on how to get Spirit early on for the buffs? I was only able to get it by equipping a Staff and it only being active when the Staff was equipped vs. the Quarterstaff😢
There is a quest in one of the first zones around level 11 or so that will give you permanently 30 spirit by completing. You have to cleanse some totems in a town. Look for that.
What am i doing wrong? I have every skill necessary and when i have the charges and use Falling Thunder i don't have this big of an aoe just a small one barely reaches the enemy in front of me....
@@archerhawkings472 not a fan of being forced to use lightning or ice on most classes even the mele ones, if i want fire or lighting i will play sorc not ranger or monk
Are there no Fire/Pyro skills for monk?! I just started yesterday night. Would like to play a Fire type Monk…. Kinda sucks that Monk also isn’t str, int based which would realistically make sense.
Im in act 1 and for some reason I run out of stamina very slowly I can spam ice cascade like 40 to 50 times before it gets low then it recharges in like 2 seconds
Love the game but it's almost unplayable on my Xbox it keeps kicking me off saying my controller has lost connectivity and is even worse with local coop it's really really bad with this.

As a first time Poe player (don't play classic RPGs like this) I've found monk pretty good. Right at the beginning it wasn't amazing but so far only ranger has felt really strong out of the gate, at least for me.
this game is a huge step backwards. Lets just take the Temporalis chase unique body armour. this is basically the PoE default experience but in a chase unique item, this is a step backwards. They went out of their way to remove item quant and rarity from the game just to make it super powerful here, this is a step backwards. This game also does nothing to fix existing problems. They continue to be allergic to build diversity, there is no loot fitler customization in game, no build customizer or ACCURATE skill damage screen. Its all just like the first game but not as good. Ok rant over, trash game. PoE 3 will fix things guys! 😂😂😂
…. You came to rant and be weird over a game that is in an early access/beta phase until full release next year? You gotta be pretty bitter and self absorbed to care this much when the game isn’t even out?! Like what…bruh?! 😂
