- How To Change Automatic Transmission Fluid [2001-2005 Honda Civic 1.7]
Very easy how you can change your own automatic transmission fluid!
I use the castrol transmax automatic transmission fluid. I do NOT use oem Honda brand.
I recommend you use what your vehicle's owner Manuel calls for.

Great advice and wisdom
Nice video. Wow my 2002 currently has 92K miles on it so by the looks of it... I've got a lot of life still in it! 🙏👍
Heck ya lol do reg maintenance and your Golden pony boy
My 2005 has 259,000 miles on it and it still hauls ass!
Great video 💪🏾💯
Good explanation 👏
Great video, Thank You
Your welcome! Thanks for watching
Was that your first fluid change? My uncles 04 has 280k and never done it. I don’t want to change the fluid and have it slip if he’s never changed it
Nice video
Thanks
How often do you change the fluid mines is an 2004 Honda civic lx D17A / slxa - jdm I believe
What socket and how do you open it that's more important can you show me that
How often should it be done? Does your leaks around the rear main seal ?
Replace the seal and it will stop if you have a leak. Depending on cars mileage and service. 150000 and above I'd say every 25000 30000 change your preference
Excellent teacher
Thanks 👍
How many quarts of fluid ?
Does this car not have A transmission fluid filter to replace ? I have a 2002 Honda Civic Coupe X and can’t seem to find out if it has a transmission fluid filter that needs changing or not? Does anybody know? Thank you in advance great video by the way!
No, they don't
Transmission fluid filter is inside transmission you’d have to drop the pan to replace it
@@angiebarboza54no it’s it’s built inside you’d have to pull it apart..
Does the filter need to be changed too? I just bought a honda. Kinda new to it
No not really
Should the car not be total leveled when you drain the fluid?
Yea. Looks like there are some remaining undrained fluid lean to the other side of the transmission when he unplug the drain plug
Would you change your engine oil and leave the same filter...so why would u do that with your transmission
There is no external filter on these vehicles. The filter is an internal filter inside of the transmission and is not user serviceable.
The engine is d17? Whats the transmission number code? Great video
Does look like a D series engine. Not sure exact number though
But he did say 2003 Honda civic 1.7L
D17a1
Kool video. Don't forget to always use Jack. Stands and something behind the tires. That stay on the floor.
Thanks for watching I appreciate it.
@@GGRUclipsr5958 no problem thanks for making the video
Your welcome!
I've done the same procedure on a 2001 but I used the Valvoline Multi-vehicle ATF Max Life. How is the Mobil 1 5w-30 working out for you? Do you feel any sort of difference, either good or bad?
Nice did the valvoline work good ? The 5w-30 is working out good. I personally can't tell a difference but I bet my engine is happier in this 80°+ heat stop and go traffic with a.c. blasting. I wanna try that coolant chiller the stuff that drops your coolant by at least 10° it says. Have you ever used that stuff ?
Hey uve used the valvoline max life on a honda how did it do???? I used that oil on my toyotas but im skeptical about a honda how is it working for you?
@@emmanuelortiz2490 it works fine and it's recommended for hondas
Half of your video lacks audio.
What size wrench do you need?
3/4 inch drive!
Is the dip stick supposed to be fairly loose? seems sketchy
Yea after time it wears out the rubber. It is fine tho.
Yes they are loose, but no problems have resulted.
No don’t listen to em u gotta buy a new one if the rubber wears out or gets loose that y mine was spilling out the top
@@Gatorbags23 it should not be lose!
@@GGRUclipsr5958 no, it’s not fine unless u want sand and other shit into your damn transmission. Go to Honda and buy one. They are like$20.00 and it seals the fill hole!!
Where is the gear oil filter on this model?
@anojamadusanka7575 not sure I'm sorry
Im told there is an inline external filter?
No
On some models there is an inline filter but Honda says to not replace it unless you get a new trans.
@@vernonbosshard9317 there is no inline filter on any civic from 01-05 the filter is for 06 and up
Where is the the transmission filter at bro?
There isn't one.
Way back when civics actually had dipsticks
#1 SHOOT those birds. #2 cinder block and scissor jack? Really? #3 No VTEC? #4 FYI for all that read this, the round black plug on the end of the cylinder head, Cam bore plug, when machining the cam bores they need that hole for the machine, afterwards its not needed, buy some extras or seal it up with gasket sealer, it WILL leak, it WILL make a huge mess of your engine. It WILL.
whats the code number?
For?
Aye bro if you could help me with a question
What's up?
Well since you had the sound off most of the time it cause have answer all my questions but NOPE didn't happen.
Hello
Yo
A decent portion of your video is muted, probably because you used copyrighted music 🤦♂️🤦♂️
Sorry bud.
Where’s bubbles?
Why’d you make a video with half sounds?? 😒 That makes no sense..:
TAS bien n wey jajajaja
Why is your transmission fluid black ? How long did you wait to change it? I assume you have no shame since it should be red /pink. Since your fluid is black you will need a new transmission or minimum a new filter. Waiting so long to change fluid seriously what wrong with you..... but tell us
Lol "new filter" shows how much you even know about the car
7 gen civic do have transmission filters and the part number is 17315-S5A-A32
If you go to the dealer there going to tell you they don’t have a filter but just give them the part number and they should have it the filter is not inside the transmission it’s out side it’s like a small metal cylinder.
RCBones the part number for the filter is 17315-S5A-A32 you could order it online or go to the dealer
@@joshrivera2109 Actually, there is a filter in 7th gen. Civic transmissions. Problem is, it's literally **in** the unit. You have to take the transmission out of the vehicle and disassemble it in order to get to the filter.
