  • Spatial and spatial-temporal data have become pervasive nowadays. We are constantly generating spatial data from route planners, sensors, mobile devices, and computers in different fields like Transportation, Agriculture, Social Media. These data need to be analyzed to generate hidden insights that can improve business processes, help fight crime in cities, and much more.
Simply creating static maps from these data is not enough. In this webinar we shall look at techniques of importing and exporting spatial data into R; understanding the foundation classes for spatial data; manipulation of spatial data; and techniques for spatial visualization. This webinar is meant to give you introductory knowledge of spatial data analysis in R needed to understand more complex spatial data modeling techniques.
In this webinar, we will cover the following topics:
-Why use R for spatial analysis
    -Packages for spatial data analysis
    -Types of spatial data
-Classes and methods in R for spatial data analysis
    -Importing and exporting spatial data
    -Visualizing spatial data in R

Please I can see your tutorial is a powerful one, but I find difficulty in reading the codes.
So if you can make the codes available in a separate file.
    Thanks.

I was wondering if you could help me with an error I'm encountering when trying to execute the "writeOGR" command. I'm using the same Large SpatialPointsDataFrame as you created in the video, and the error states: "Can't convert columns of class: ordered; column names: month, day". If you could suggest a possible fix for this error, it would be appreciated.

Why didn't you make the video in HD? Very relevant topic but the video quality has rendered it unusable. Please correct it

I total support Isaac afari Addo´s request. You did a very good job in explaining, but it´s not possible to read the codes correctly. I´m not able to reproduce your examples.

Hi, that's me again. I don't know if I'm the only one who got this problem, but after trying to run , I'm getting the following error message: "Error in writeOGR(obj = crime.spatial, dsn = "data/shapefiles", layer = "crime-shapefile", :
Can't convert columns of class: ordered; column names: month, day". I've already tried to randomly reorder the dataframe but it didn't solve the problem. Tks!

concept is very nice but it is difficult to read .i have question asmuchas possible pls reply quikly
can we do spatial autocorrelation for catagorical variables (sex, travel history(yes,no),types of disease(VL,CL,MCL)...) if so how and pls send the comand? if possible.

Well, that was my brutal force "solution": 1) removed the columns (month and day) and 2) replaced the temp dir by getwd()
    crime.spatial

hello,i wanna load plenty of geodata to make cluster analysis but it would be loaded too long time even couldn't loaded and exited auto by unexpected action, please give me some adivce.
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Please buy a microphone for future videos. This is almost unlistenable the sound so bad. Like listening to a skype call from Timbuktu!

Great Video. Is it possible to run spatial bi-variate correlation in R?
