Hello Karin! You story with the lifting weight really resonated with me because I had really big goals for myself this year with my horses but I’m not really close to hitting them but the reason I set the goals was because I wanted to improve my riding and I actually feel like I’ve accomplished that. Thank you for sharing 🙏🏻🤗
The things I procrastinate most I set them as goals and never do them. The things I love I never set them as goals. And in case I do , I never do them too. Same for systems. 😢
Hello Karin, I want to write an academic article and keep putting off doing any preparation for it. Actively choosing other activities instead (more fun, more interactive, learning activities, reading self-help/development stuff) Any idea how to encourage that sense of autonomous motivation with this task? I have no external deadline and little pressure or accountability.
Hello, team BBA here 😊 We're going to offer a different perspective (and question to go along with that): What if it's not so much about motivation to get this task done, but how you're really feeling about writing the article? What is the reason you want to write it? Is that actually aligned to your overall values? You've already identified other things you're choosing and it sounds like they're way more fun (to your brain) than writing the article. Karin talks about this in another video which may help to figure out how you're feeling about writing the article: ruclips.net/video/iZzOG7kaibo/видео.html And to help you work on directing your motivation towards writing that article, this video may help too: ruclips.net/video/01sr186qwW4/видео.htmlfeature=shared Let us know how you get on! 🤓
I used to be an athlete and enjoy working out- I now have three kids under four and my body is totally different. I’m struggling to just move for the sake of my body and health and ditching the athletes mentality and instead just getting fifteen minutes in whenever I can.
hello im actually watching this video between study sessions because i dont want to study anymore even tho i should im actually struggling to build a studying habit for a longer period of time through the day specially since i keep getting unmotivated and i start zoning out i find your video really helpful except i dont know how to apply it on my case i would love your help and thank you!
Hey! So in this case, I would remind you that studying or focusing is not a habit - "focus" is a condition of the brain, and your brain is an organ in your body. Meaning, your PHYSICAL condition is going to impact how long you're able to focus. Are you eating enough? Are you getting enough nutrients in what you're eating? Are you hydrated? Are you getting high quality sleep? Also... are you taking breaks? The average human brain is able to to deep focus for around 1.5 hours before you are going to need a break. So maybe you're issue here isn't willpower or zoning out... maybe you're simply expecting too much.
@@bodybrainalliance wow i think you are right i do have a terrible physical condition and i wanted to ask about a way to build a good sleeping habit ive been struggling to build it since many years i sleep really bad to the point that my memory became so bad i dont remember the things i study anymore, (i sleep at really different hours everyday and sometimes i dont get enough sleep) and as you said i do expect too much not only in my studies even in change i always aim for radical change which hardly ever works

Hi! Sounds like you want to work on losing weight - do you have a more specific goal related to this? For example, are there specific behaviors you want to work on, like eating more fruit and veg or moving your body more?
If you're struggling to actually be excited about a goal, let me know in the comments and we can work through it!

You're welcome! We're glad it resonated and well done on accomplishing that goal!!
In all my self-help and habit reading, I have never heard this! Don’t set a goal from a place is self hate! ⭐️
