Hi ! Lyzrinn here ! I wasn't expecting an actual review of the game but i'm pleasantly surprised and happy with the 6.89/10 score (although could have been rounded to 6.9) ! Just to clarify some of your concerns: - The third person incentivizes players to grind for now cosmetics. A lot of testing went into it and I've realized that being able to see your character gives players a sense of uniqueness and accomplishment. It does bring with it the corner peeking issue, of course, but I've embrassed it as part of the game. - As for the delayed killfeed, it's not an issue, it actually is on purpose and as you've said it's meant to second guess your shots. There's nothing much else to it, Red Orchestra 2 does this with their official servers but it can be turned off in custom games. If I add VIP servers, I'll probably let admins configure those kinds of settings. - Your points about peaking are very valid and is planned. - Working the bolt manually allows to differenciate between an actual bolt action and semi auto rifle, the former needing human input and the latter being semi automatic and not requiring any human interaction. This is directly baked into the game as having to click one more time to bolt the rifle. I plan on adding a tickbox option that allows for auto bolting in the future, although slower than manual bolting to reward players that keep using manual bolt. There are tons of small issues that have been resolved over the past updates but many more are meant to be fixed. For example, the zooming out/in after respawning or the respawn system which I've been fiddling for a long time. Anyways, awesome review and tons of valuable feedbacks ! Thanks and I hope that you had fun !
Nice Karelia vid dude. My main complaint about the game is how dense and similar all of the maps except Mannerheim (snowy hills) feel ... but then you mentioned that this specific theater was about towns and industrial areas. Feels like the same 2 town maps keep getting picked and that's my biggest complaint about the game. If they could just add a little more larger open maps it would be sweet.
Sorry to criticize but open maps are the bane of this game's existence. As mentioned in the video sniping from nowhere is a big issue so having a map where snipers can just hang out in their tiny little spots and spawncamp is a horrid idea.
I've been playing Frontline Karelia on and off for a few months and I'd say your rating is about accurate for my experience. It's probably just how infrequently I play the game, but I find the progression almost demoralizingly brutal
Nice review it skit, sad I am a bit late to the party. Though one thing you missed out I think is the broken guns, which has been fixed for the most part recently. But was a huge pain in previous versions of the game. Having empty a magazine at an enemy for them to shrug it off and gun you down, only to die 5 seconds later from your previous shots. Also they removed the cracked Russian T33 for the nagant revolver :( . That gun was great.
@thiccy lizard it's not game breaking, plus both sides use it, literally nearly everyone has to use third person at some point, but then again, I didn't ask for third person but I'm fine with it. Once you get used to it, it's no big deal.
The uk didnt back the soviets, the war with finland really is kinda its own seperate thing from ww2 it isnt just another battle on the eastern front and the pacific theatre isnt called the American-Japamese war as those werent the only countries involved
as a frontline karelia tester I have to confirm thats its a nice game but very slept on,it rarely gets more than a thousand players and its such a great game to be on.
It was called the continuation war as there was the winter war in 1939, leading to a truce between russia and finland, the continuation war was when finland tried to retake lost land after the event of operation Barderosa.
i agree on some of the things but i disagree on leaderboard mid-game, non delayed killfeed, etc im gonna put my opinions below: - the delayed killfeed makes you double check if someone's dead or not instead of instantly knowing it, trust me it's perfect for a realistic but a little arcadey game - leaderboard mid game isn't really helpful cuz it encourages KDR importance which i hate, if you want to know if one of your team is useless just look at the killfeed - talking bout killfeed i 100% agree about the coloring for teams on killfeed - autobolting would make NO difference between semi auto and bolt action which defeats the purpose of semi automatic - fun fact: the reason 3rd person exist is to look at your cosmetics (it's confirmed by the dev) sounds stupid but it's easy to corner peek so why not do it yourself? (also this game have a very detailed models i must admit so being able to see by 3rd person it is just gorgeous) (if there are any grammar mistakes pls forgive me, english is not my first language)
I have played both of these games, they are such hidden gems. Fallen Flag is very good and fun despite a few bugs. Frontline Karelia is also a good game. Though it took some time for me to get used to the game.
I like Karelia because it actually feels like a war the amount of explosions on a single house is insane and would definitely cause some PTSD if you were an actual soldier
@thiccy lizard in all seriousness i think being stuck in first person would be a turnaway for grinding to get outfits, and by extension, less work put into grinding in general. ik you can view them in the class selection, but it's not exactly a lot
@thiccy lizard the only people you'll intimidate is the enemy, and if you give them a good look at it, they'll send a few bullets in return. also, my point still stands. grinding for an outfit just to be unable to see it would be unworth the grind
Hi skit! I found a very fun game called "guts and blackpowder". It's like blood and iron but instead of killing humans you need to kill zombies. Maybe you could review this game? It's not fully finished yet but i think it's a very fun game to play!
yo me too i got some good strats so have 1 sapper repairing a barricade and 1 sapper killing the zombies and boom a kill farm heres another one putting a stake on the stairs can block zombies from hiting it but bombers are your bane thats all i got for now
The one guy who defended the leaderboard thing made a terrible argument but I do agree with him on how a leaderboard can be problematic. It can easily encourage people to just try to sit back and pick of easy targets or snipe or something and not attacking the point. This mostly applies to the breakthrough gamemode. Aside from that, I do agree with your other points on Karelia
Hello farrel here, just telling that many update has been released on frontline karelia, it's been through many changes. So yeah pls make update videos about it.
ok about the continuation war is about the Finns joining Germany attacking the Soviets only for the Reds attacking back and pushing the Finns back to Finland. This is why I love Frontline: Karelia
@@31pixal10 no, the reason is because the Devs of the game have suddenly decided that the game is no longer profitable for them, which is why they abandoned it and rebranded.
Also the game damage mechanic every shot will have different damage depends on the limbs you shot for example your a Soviet rifleman you get shot out of.nowhere but that didn't do jack damage your screen isn't.bloody you have a counter says bandage you get shot that is less damage might been hit on your feet or hand
The continuation war or finnish soviet war is called that because while finnland was allied with the nazis, they weren´t in the axis and not at war with any other allies. Also them making peace and supporting the soviet wareffort earned them some forgiveness

Maybe in return they should actually fix napoleonic wars.
I like Karelia because it actually feels like a war the amount of explosions on a single house is insane and would definitely cause some PTSD if you were an actual soldier
Fallen flag reminds me of "Fire and Manuever" a steam game.
Karelia actually made the fin names blue and the Soviet names red and they fixed the viewpoint respawn glitch
