Back in the late 60s, early 70s, Bob Marley visited hawaii and collaborated with the Peter Moon band "Guava Jelly," and that kick started the reggae music in hawaii or jahwaiian music. Fiji is a fijiian artist originally from Fijii who moved to hawaii, who is an amazing musical icon in hawaii. Fijii helps many musicians get going promoting upcoming artists, one being Maoli. Love Maolis music.... cheewoo bradahs and sistas lets go!!!!!! Rajah Aloha
Im happy to hear folks from the mainland happenin to come across music from the homelands here in Hawaii, and yes we got a lot of country folk most of us are.Welcome to the Islands ma'am.
These guys are called the Maoli and fiji is another artist from from fiji but he resided in Hawaii for a long time. It's island reggae miz with country. Check out their songs and fijis leaving with me.
See we grew up country. Parker Ranch was once the largest owned Ranch in Hawaii( big island). They brought Mexicans from Mexico to teach our Hawaiians how to ride horses. They are called Paniolo's. So singing country is common for us...
So nice to see you listening to Maoli -Glenn Awong he sings so many different styles Thumbs up from a Bonnie Scot 💕 Suggestion: Little more Tequila or The Christmas Song💕
Yuss. He uses the Armagideon riddim. (The brass, drums, bass and keys). Love my Pacific brothers. Jamaica went through a country reggae phase in the 70's due to being able to cheaply access American wild west movies. So the pedigree is there.
@@redheadedneighbor I swear I just downloaded the original, put it on full screen and he is the twin of the choir directer at my church. Wm. "Shep" Shepherd. What a rush. Rb
Country Reggae is what I heard in this which is a very cool sound. Home Free with Adam Rupp's beatboxing did a reggae on their cover of Johnny Cash's Ring of Fire.
these are all our local artists from hawaii. its nice now days our artists are getting more exposure to the world. we grew up with reggae and adopted it and made our island music. maoli is our biggest artists at the moment and fiji is the OG and legend hawaii artist. he sang in the background
Great reaction...He has a little Bob Marley going on there and, judging from the title, he is from Fiji AKA American Samoa, Pango Pango. Beautiful place!!!!
Thank you for the info! We have all heard about assumptions!!!! However, I've been to Hawaii also. An absolutely beautiful PARADISE!!!!! Again, thanks for the correction. @@DaRedeyeJedi808
He's put out his tour dates and he will be in Nashville in April. I'm from Hawaii but I live in Alabama. I can't wait to go. Aloha bruddahs and sistahs out there
new here... maoli is a new artist compared to fiji... but they are both top pacific artist right now.... fiji has been the top for decads... but maoli is kinda like his heir....hahaha
Honestly, while his voice is worthy of someone named "Marley"...just wearing that shirt (and, okay, a bit of slide guitar) doesn't really make this seem less than 100% reggae. For people from that area of the world going full country, though, I present Cakra Khan doing Chris Stapleton's "Tennessee Whiskey". Like, *really* doing it. I'm not sure how "Cakra" is pronounced, but in my head I just call him "Joe Cocker-a Khan" anyway. A brief listen will tell you why.
