    There was no one like Jones when he was at the top of his game. Incredible speed and skill. Nice to see a guy have a fantastic career and come out of it with the money he deserved in a game full of sharks and conmen like Don King. Thanks for the fights champ!

      At his best RJJ was for me the 2nd greatest pound for pound fighter ever and Robinson from what the experts say in the 1940's as a Welterweight did things that make him a truly legendary untouchable fighter.He won 88 amateur fights and only lost 1 of his first 143 fights and that was to the mythical Jake La Motta as well ,then he lost to an in incredible shape Randolph Turpin on Turpin's home soil and after several fights in a few weeks too.

    I was at that Virgil Hill fight in Biloxi, MS. It costed me 600. bucs for me and my Lady to sit down on the floor and there we got to take pictures with Kennedy McKinney, Vince Phillips and pal around with them sort of. It made me become a fan of theirs. There was a lot of excitement in the building when Roy and Virgil began fighting, I was a bit concerned that Virgil was too big for Roy and may beat him because moving up in weight is never without that risk. But as soon as the fight began Roy began to dominate. When Roy hit him with that body shot it sounded like someone took a 2" x 4" and hit a big tree as hard as they could with it. It actually echoed through the Biloxi Coliseum, no doubt..

    It amazes me how crazed Joe Calzaghe fans really believe that Joe would've stood a chance against this version of Jones. A perfect time for them to have met prob would've been around 2000. Calzaghe had been Champion for about 3 years at super middle and I don't think Roy would've had much trouble making 168 at this time either. Would've been great entertainment, but Prime Jones just to classy and powerful at this weight.

    • @robertpegg7251
      @robertpegg7251 Год назад

      Calzhagi was World Champion for over 10 years -his biggest fault was he wasnt an American fighter or hyped up to the eyeballs, like Jones. .. Calzhagi beat Brewer ,destroyed Lacy (very brave fighter) schooled Kessler, Humiliated Hopkins the cheat , and absolutely destroyed Jones (which he would have done at any age) - then he retired undefeated...Shortest boxing video of all time - Joe Calzhagis defeats .
      Not crazed -but not blind either..

    Imagine the bad luck, you're in like your 2nd ever professional fight, fighting in some small-time event, and you get stuck with Jones, who's probably already one of the best boxers in the world in your weight class, maybe already the best, but still doing small-time gigs because he doesn't have a proper manager XD.

    So good to see a great fighter like Roy didn't end up like the other greats like "Terrible" Terry norris and Meldrick Taylor. Both of those men were great warriors who gave great fights but at the end of both carrers it took its toll on both of them.

    Roy proved he could get the big fights without a promoter. Earlier on in his career maybe this was hard but once he became a force, no problem. Other boxers these days should take note.

    At one time people said he was the greatest pound for pound fighter ever to fight… the problem is when he first truly lost( not counting his disqualification he dominated that fight) when he finally was beaten… he was beaten badly and beaten often… his hands and feet were the quickest I’ve ever seen. But that heavy weight division melted him really early in.

    Undisputed control knowledge and of power. Most impressive is the display of God's love. Didn't allow himself to get swallowed by the carnal desires of the world and obeyed God in Honoring his father, more over as his dad did for him teaches his sons to be better than him. Great display of unselfishness and progress. Fine example of FATHERHOOD...CHAMP.

    As Korean-American myself, it hurts to see Roy Jones Jr. become victim of Korean and US officials. US officials started it by handing the decision to Jerry Page over Kim Dong Kil when Kim Dong Kil was clearly a better boxer in 1984. Kim Dong Kil was robbed but coach laughed and simply said "We'll see you in the next Olympics."
    And then in 1988, Korean officials and associations decided to do the same thing to have a revenge against the US but it's unfortunate Roy Jones Jr. had to be the victim. Even Park Si Hun was embarrassed and later apologized to Roy Jones Jr. So in a bigger picture, Jerry Page and US officials stole Roy Jones Jr. medal. Cause and Effect.

    • @EdDy4RheelZ
      @EdDy4RheelZ 10 лет назад

      ***** I guess saying Fuck Korea is not being racist? SO I guess if someone said FUCK USA or FUCK AMERICA, I guess that's ok for Americans to hear. You talk as if only Koreans cheat as hosts. Wanna talk about host cheatings? 2002 Winter Olympics Salt Lake City, US stole gold medal from Kim Dong Sun and awarded to Apolo Anton Ohno and then for two next Winter Olympics and also in World Short Track Competitions, Korea proved that they were superior in short track and won every gold medals.
      Russia stole gold medal from Yuna Kim in 2014 Winter Olympics Figure Skating and awarded it to Adelina Sotnikova.
      Corruptions happen everywhere, especially in sport like boxing, that's easy to corrupt since it's based on decisions if fight doesn't end in KO or TKO.
      Unlike Americans that had no sympathy or shame of cheating, Koreans including myself felt bad for Roy Jones Jr. and everyone knew that Roy Jones Jr. got robbed. Even the "winner" Park Si Hun went upto Roy and said he doesn't know what happened with the results and apologized. Even monks in South Korea went to Roy Jones jr. and apologized for what the Korean officials had done as it's mentioned in this video.
      When Americans stole gold medal from Kim Dong Sun by disqualifying him and award the medal to Apolo Anton Ohno, did Americans felt bad for Kim? Americans only cared about their athlettes and didn't give two bits of rats ass about Kim Dong Sun. US now can't even get a single gold medal in short track. Much like how Korea can't even get a single gold medal in boxing now.
      If you're wondering why this corruption happened on Roy Jones Jr. go look up 1984 when Jerry Page was declared winner over Kim Dong Kil in 1984 Summer Olympics held in Los Angeles regardless of Kim Dong Kil being a way better boxer than Jerry Page. Korean officials appealed but was rejected. This was a root behind the corruption. So it's not only Korean officials to blame although they are mainly to blame. US officials and Jerry Page are also to blame as well.
