I think the best part of her career is how she made herself into a real clay court contender after winning the French in 2013. when she won in 2015 that was a total surprise but it solidified the fact that she had really turned the tables on clay.

So much to say. Williams with her incredible array of shots. This was during her phase where she used more topspins. Caroline with her power, aggression, and short angles had weapons to trouble Serena. This was one the examples of Serena’s more power focused game could have helped her. Still, she used her more topspin and angular game to frustrate Garcia and dig out a hard fought win. Serena would go on to win two more French Opens with this style of game. Now she is back to power focused because she lacks the athleticism to play her more spin focused game.
Actuslly that's incorrect. If anything serena was hitting harder and HEAVIER before she got pregnant. When she returned. She was still hitting heavy but not as hard which result in the lack later results. She still had the athleticism but didn't make the most of it because of her lack of commitment the child was always going to be there and her tennis wasn't which she didn't understand.

She was supposed to have a natural pregnancy but doctors decided on c-section which mutilated her abdominal core. Thus, she also lost a little power along with her speed. Considering that she almost died from the resulting blood clot, she still played amazing. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to win a slam but she as still an incredible player and wow, what a career. Miss her truly but no one can last forever. She gave us some amazing matches and stupendous wins. Love her!

She did make it to the top. She was ranked as high as #4 in the world. The reason why she couldn't sustain her place at the top was because her game is one-dimensional and easily exposed by players with a lot of variety.

She has been able to win titles on all 3 surfaces and can hit almost every shot in the book (as she showed in Fed Cup against Halep, for example, or even in this match against Serena with the great lobs and drop shots). Since becoming a top player she has just felt too much pressure and her coaching relationship with her father is limiting her.

Garcia needs to change her ball toss. I get that she just won the (ugliest, worst top 8 ever) WTA finals, but she looks ridiculous staring up into the sky before she even starts to move her arm. Also, Garcia has not played a match of this quality since Miami 2014. Only against Serena; n she still LOST
hmmmm... she almost won this match. I haven't seen someone take it to Serena like this. There's nothing wrong with her ball toss at all. Coaches will tell you to focus on one spot (usually the words on the ball) to give yourself a focal point to hit your serve. Her serve is pretty much in the same place each time she serves which is correct. Garcia's problem has always 2 things: her tactics on court and her dad as a coach. This girl should have won a slam and been number 1 by now because she had all the tools to do it but it just never came together. If anything I noticed that she did differently in this match is that she choose the right shot at the right time.
