    I really must hand it to you, regarding your comments about Arturia’s choice to put a micro USB jack on the back of the Beat Step Pro, and no barrel jack, no battery slots, GRUMBLE, BAH!! I think this was same way. Anytime I discover a micro USB jack, and especially on a piece of audio gear!! It just doesn’t win my confidence. THANKS FOR SHARING!

      Well I will not be touching the korg nu tekt synth as it does not even offer a battery option. And it only has a micro usb port on it. I dont like micro usb because they are not through hole soldered a lot of the time. And if that were to break off of the korg nu tekt synth it is essentially useless for anything. And you would lose about £100 roughly. Never mind the things that I have broke due to circuit bending various synth and keyboards.

    awesome mod!!!

    also, would rehousing it inside something else a bit roomier help?

    • @rs0389
      @rs0389  5 лет назад

      I honestly dont how you would going about rehousing it. The gakken sx-150 experimentors synth is a bit more roomier insider though. That is why i have been using pig tails with female jacks on the monotrons. You do have to be careful about which female inline audio connectors you get though because some of them are crap and not easy to wire up correctly. Annoyingly it is far easier to get hold of the stereo inline female audio jacks than the mono ones as well.
      Going back to the rehousing the monotron really is something that would involve advanced electronics knowledge, and a lot of information on analog synthesizer design. That is why it would be really difficult to rehouse.

    would this mod work with any type of cv sequencer? for instance, a baby 8?

    • @rs0389
      @rs0389  5 лет назад

      I dont know, i havent tested it with the baby8 sequencer. You need to set the voltage at 8v/hz annoyingly. It seems to get better sounds at higher voltages.

      @@rs0389 thanks, that's helpful to know about the voltage

      I try it with the baby8 sequencer but I am not sure if it will do much

      @@rs0389 thanks for looking into it. I am gonna pick one up at some point as the kits seem quite inexpensive. will try this as a diy project.

    Is it worth fitting a mains adaptor socket ?

      I’m not sure how to do that

    • @hamlob
      @hamlob 3 года назад

      not worth, but definitely worth fitting a micro usb connector, as all USB adapters provide 5V and Monotron runs on 5V,

      @@hamlob I'll install a 10-pin header so I can connect it into my modular eurorack power supply buss.

      @@and7barton Nice! Can your power supply output 5V or are you going to put a regulator inbetween?

    • @and7barton
      @and7barton 3 года назад

      @@hamlob It can supply 5 v (and 12v too). The only thing is, the Monotron uses 3v, not 5v. That's a fair bit extra. Can it handle it okay or will something go dud after a time ?
