    OK, all true, BUT, your experience is limited for such all encompassing advice. First, there are places to stay and walk in Monterosso that are flat or relatively so, though many smaller alleys and the trails are of course quite steep. And now even the train station has an elevator, so you can actually stay there on level ground. Second, yes when it rains it isn't the best place to be, because you're likely there for either the beach or the trails. But it's an easy train ride to many other towns and cities on the coast if you need an alternative, and the towns are quite charming and scenic aside from the obvious beach/trail tourism. Third, yes two of the main trails are currently closed and even in best weather some of the others can feel crowded. What you miss is that there are many secondary trails up, down and over the mountains in several directions that the tourists rarely visit, and they too are scenic. As to eating, there are plenty of places to eat, which of course will be crowded at peak times during peak season. You're not going to starve there and a lot of the smaller shops (best in Monterosso) without the big views have very tasty food. Plus what you miss overall is that you can use the Cinqueterre as a lovely base for the Eastern Ligurian coast because of the frequent train service, AND you don't have to stay in the 5 towns to enjoy them; you can stay in a larger town and just visit. I've been going there for 44 years, and frankly would love it if your advice thinned out the crowds, but some reality is in order here, folks.

      Thanks so much for your valuable input Bart! I agree our experience is limited but we did want to put it out there. The problem is that it’s very hard to find all encompassing advice, whether it be from social media or guidebooks. We’ll pin your comment so others can gain from your experienced input! Thanks so much!!

      I agree, and I really respect that the channel guys pinned your comment. That shows they want to help people. I have been looking at buying one of the ruined cottages in the Cinque Terre, so I appreciated both the video and this comment. I saw another side of the villages and the area when I was there - it seems to be highly dependent on when you go and where you stay.

      How reliable is the train service in Cinque Terra? I have read reviews stating that the trains and even the stations are heavily overcrowded. Is that true?

    • @bartcharlow9807
      @bartcharlow9807 2 месяца назад +1

      @@chris-channel821 Train service can be delayed and during crush season and times it is crowded, but you can get on and get where you need to go regardless. Local trains allow you to get on and off without reservations, even if you stand for the few minute rides.

      We stayed in Riomaggiore and loved it! Be prepared for lots of stairs. We were able to do 2 of the 4 trails (Monterosso to Vernazza and Vernazza to Corniglia) the Via dell'Amore has been closed and is hopefully reopening in 2024.

    Rubbish and Whiney. I would not watch another of your videos. The Cinque Terra is an amazing place, and despite the devastating floods a decade ago, they have worked diligently to restore the hiking trails. And the best food of our lives was served in Monterosso.
    You are that generation that expects everything to be perfect for you. Take a breath and enjoy each day, especially when traveling. If it rains, enjoy the experience of the rain.
