I bet if we switched Erwin out with Levi who is really important in this scenario; they would still want Armin to live no matter who he was up against. Also having an obsession is not a bad thing. Erwin's "obsession" helped humanity in the long run. He overthrew the corrupt government which allowed them to find the truth. He saved Eren’s life four times. He kept the scouts alive and active for all those years. If anyone else had been in charge, the scouts would have been in shambles or disbanded by the time Eren and the rest joined. It would have been nice for eren or Mikasa to at least acknowledge erwin’s importance (at least in their minds). At least from eren, since he is alive because of erwin. They acted like nothing would be lost with erwins demise. Also, the three main characters are obsessed as well. Mikasa does not care for humanity. If at any moment eren would drop his fight and leave the scouts, she would follow him and screw anyone else. She only cares for eren. Armin cares only for the sea. He always wanted to see it and therefore he fought. Eren just fought for revenge and hate, he said it himself. This arc is so great because both sides end up getting completely fucked over in the end. There is no victor. Eren and the survey corps lose thousands of recruits and their leader (RIP Goatwin), while Reiner and the warriors lose Bertholdt and Annie and fail to capture Eren. In the manga you can see Reiner crying when Zeke tells him he was “incredibly lucky”. It really shows just how terrible war is and how no matter who the “winner” is both sides will lose something. I think that’s the reason why they made Bertholdt’s death parallel Marco’s. Also, I think Bertholdt had the same disorder as Reiner, just not nearly as bad because he was more aloof. People forget that these are 16 year old kids, of course they’re scared of death, even if they have killed hundreds of thousands of people.
I think Commander Erwin would've hate to be brought back knowing he told all of his scouts to die with him and now he is alive. It was a good choice, a hard choice for sure.

3 minutes...... is how much time the video have been up and how long it took me to click like hell on the it. Finally, The Trilogy of Nightmares has come to an end. So sad yet so beautiful.
Now do you guys remember all those questions Levi asked Erwin before the mission when he went to him for convincing Erwin not to come on this mission? I believe those answers that Erwin gave that day made Levi chose what he chose.
Pieck bertholdt feels so real, erwin is powerful and great but he’s un relatable, and that doesn’t mean that hid death isn’t sad... but it’s just that bertholdt is very realistic and the situation that he’s in is super hard and you can feel what he feels. I don’t know what I’m saying. but for me, bertholdt’s character/death is peak fiction (sadness)!
When the episode finished all 3 of you looked like you got hit by an 18 wheeler lol. The exhaustion, the tears, the sighs of relief, this is why we watch you guys. I love it.
Watching this a second time, I feel so awful for Bert and Reiner. They really weren’t treated fairly in all of this, none of this was their fault. They were just put into positions were they simply had to keep moving forward. Just like Eren.
NGL seeing Bertholdt die made me feel worse. He was a kid when they breached the walls and died as a teen .. he too was a victim of brainwashing and used as a pawn. Armin and Erwin are in my top 3 but yeh .. seeing Bertholdt die still stung. Sigh this episode is so fucking sad.
i agree with ash about the part of erwin talking before his death, that shit hit me hard when i first read it in the manga and i really really like how the author hajime isayama always try to make things looks real and relatable, he could have easily made erwin wakes up and told levi to let him go with emotional speech but no... just his child dream is the last thing he was thinking about and levi knew that erwin need to rest, because after whatever is inside that basement what's left for erwin is this guilt and the mountain of bodies that died because of him.
I always wish to be calm and clear minded as levi in any situation..his way of thinking and taking decisions considering numerous scenarios is praiseworthy
You don't just choose a smart highschool kid over the president and go unpunished, S4 is here to proove us. If Erwin were alive in S4, it would all be different
By the way, you guys may not have noticed immediately, there no music in the episode except at the end. This episode was carried entirely by the voice acting, timing, and atmosphere.
I was really waiting for this reaction I know it hurts but you've all made it. Rip for all the scout regiment, Erwin, Moblit and Bertholdt (I know many fans hate him but I still love him my heart really crushed as I saw him dying). It really is hard to choose between Armin and Erwin I want them alive so is Bertholdt. I'm excited to see your next reaction as soon as you know more about the Beast Titan.
Guys in these next episodes you need to really pay attention because they're going to give a lot of information that will answer a lot of your questions
Anyway, I'm not sure if you noticed but it was also shown another reason why Levi chose Armin instead of Erwin. It's because of what Kenny told him, that everyone must be drunk into something to keep moving forward (This theme is still ongoing in manga). So whereas Erwin only think of his plans until revelation of the basement, Armin's dream were 'farther' than Erwin. If Erwin reaches his goal of the basement, then that might be the end of the road for Erwin. Erwin even admitted that he didn't know what to do after he see what's in the basement. For Armin, he must move forward beyond the reveal of the basement.
It's interesting that you 3 reactors individually represent how each person here reacted. I can say my reaction to these eps were exactly like Joeybrahhh.
I cried four episodes straight when I was watching it. Like loud sobbing. It was insane. Although I understand the choice, I hate Erwin had to go. He was such an amazing character.
Yeah, when Levi told Erwin to give up his dream and die, he smiled and thanked him. It's like he was finally able to free himself from having to be the devil and watching his followers die.
Erwin helped levi to take decision... Decision to revive armin... As erwin was not dead he was listening to every conversation.... I think erwin in the end again showed his epicness.. Love u erwin and ya levi too but more erwin
That is incorrect. Levi didn't get his whole squad killed by acting off of his emotions. He trusted them to make their own decisions in choosing to follow him THROUGH trust. This is the the same priniciple that he used with Erwin and why the chain of command was strong like it was. They knew the value of sacrifice.
Idk about y'all, but Floch definitely has say in the matter. Along with his fellow recruits, they charged right at the Beast Titan knowing they'd all die, and he's the sole survivor. That's gotta fuck you up. Despite being a new character at this time, he's got plenty of say imo.
Imagine if they injected it into Armin and it turned out that he was already dead, that would have been hilarious (it's kinda bs armin was still alive after all that)
I believe it should have been erwin for logical reasons. What ultimately gives me peace is that erwin gets to rest. What I hated about how this was played out, is they made it seem like erwin did not do anything at all for humanity. He is the reason that they reached this point at all. He saved Eren's life numerous times so it was kind of messed up that eren and mikasa acted like they weren't losing anything with erwins death. Armin will never replace him. Im happy that Erwin gets to rest at least. RIP Before anyone says something, dreams dont win wars.
@@ayoCC So Erwin could not do that? He had to fight but he could also solve issues. Also at this point, he scouts don't know what's up ahead. if there is more fighting to be done or is the enemy gone. They don't know if they need a fighter for what's to come. They could have a negotiator like Hange(you said so yourself) and a fighter like erwin. Just in case. They took a huge gamble without knowing what was to come. Also im caught up in the manga, dont worry.
@@ayoCC you're kind of right but eren had time to say his speech. What would have better if they had showed that erwins life mattered as much as armins. Say why he was important for humanity and show what he accomplished, just like they did with armin. Then choose erwin but at the time of the injection, show levi not wanting to bring his friend back to hell and therefore choosing armin. That way it showed why we should care for both. Then as fans of Erwin we wouldn't want him to suffer therefore accepting why he should not be brought back. instead it was done like "Armin rules, Erwin drools" and we just have to accept it. They could have done justice to his character and his contributions to humanity. Instead of just brushing him off like a nobody. Hopefully you understand what im saying.
Haven't read the manga so no spoilers but I think Levi made the right decision in choosing Armin. Levi gave Erwin an order for once, he made the call. Give up on your dreams. Lead the men straight into hell. This lifted a massive weight off of Erwin's shoulders and you can see he was truly thankful for levi taking that from him. Erwin rode one last time knowing he would die. To come back to the same cruel world and be cursed with life I think would be too much for Erwin. And their dreams are a great example of their priorities. Erwin's dream is a dark basement within the walls to maybe find a clue that his father was right. Armins was beyond the walls, to see the world's natural wonder, the sea. A never ending body of water that the human race can explore and discover new lands. They both trusted their most trusted partner to live on for them and make their dreams a reality. Erwin's dream isn't over, he just won't be there to see it.
Levi chose Armin because his dreams and ambition went ebyond the basement. Erwin only ever wanted to know the truth about the walls, Armin's dreams went beyond the walls.
Levi lost his mom, best friends, his squad, uncle and the most important person in his life, erwin. That guy suffered a lot in silent.
If I'm not mistaken, Isayama said that Levi is the most emotional character of the story, is just that he learned not to show it and keep it to himself. In that moment before we cut to Armin already transformed he seemed and sounded like he was about to cry.

Guys, I just want you to know that this scene right here is still one of the topic being debated today.
I've been waiting for this so i can watch 16,17,18 together. Lets gooooooooo
Edit: idk why i was so excited. I'm bawling my eyes out AGAIN
I think Commander Erwin would've hate to be brought back knowing he told all of his scouts to die with him and now he is alive. It was a good choice, a hard choice for sure.
he would be sad but I think he would be okay. He never hesitated to sacrifice nearly all of his soldiers just to learn the secret about humanity.
The moment Eren starts talking about the sea I start crying 😔
7:10 someones a Reiner fan, even did a double take to make sure the other two didn't notice his "HiYa!" of excitement when Reiner was saved XD
😎😜👨🏽🤙🏼
South America present in their reactions 🇵🇪. You guys are the best!!
Even though Bertholdt helped caused many people's death his end was a but sad!
The trauma trilogy ends
Now it’s time for the basement trilogy to begin or should I say the greatest reveal in the anime history:D
Agreed
“That day” is my favourite episode of all time.
@@fahimshahriar8404 I love how Yams is able to wrap up the backstories of characters in less than an episode like in the case of Ymir, Keith, Kenny...Eren K
ᴀ. ᴍʟɢ Also Yams is one of the few unique Mangakas who writes the backstories in such a way that it actually helps in progressing the whole plot. Not to mention characters like Eren K are so famous yet he appeared in only 2 ep and that too in a flashback. Brilliant writing
@@fahimshahriar8404 He is basically a Mangaka God at this point
19-21 are amazing but the greatest reveal hasn’t come yet 😏
Here is peak master writing. I teared up again. RIP Erwin. RIP everyone.
R.I.P Erwin, Bertholdt and Moblit
3 minutes...... is how much time the video have been up and how long it took me to click like hell on the it. Finally, The Trilogy of Nightmares has come to an end. So sad yet so beautiful.
RIP Moblit, Erwin, and Bertolt.
Now do you guys remember all those questions Levi asked Erwin before the mission when he went to him for convincing Erwin not to come on this mission? I believe those answers that Erwin gave that day made Levi chose what he chose.
poor bertholdt, he didn't deserve any of this. he had the saddest death in the show (for me)... even though my username is ERWIN SMITH (:
Faye, is all I'm saying
Erwin Smith Marco’s death. Innocent, positive, confused, betrayed, pleaded, helpless, crunched.
With the context you have now yea his death may not be the saddest but eventually it will be just as sad if not even more.
Pfffff.
Before this episode aired, even the directors said to watch this episode with headphones on. Voice acting is unreal.
LOL you two turning your heads in sync like "iiiinteresting" when Reiner says the letter is from Ymir hahahah
I LOVE that there were no music in the episode until the moment Levi finally let Erwin die. That was a nice touch.
The depth of the story in unbelievable.
Ok, I had to stop the video to write this. Thanks for being the only reactors to understand what Floch meant about the "devil".
Watching this episode makes me appreciate their voice actors even more
When the episode finished all 3 of you looked like you got hit by an 18 wheeler lol.
The voice of kaji Yuki omg
Lol Moustache's face the whole time the other two realized that Levi's gonna have to make a decision.
That was an amazing point about armin's haircut loooool, had never seen someone point that out
I always wish to be calm and clear minded as levi in any situation..his way of thinking and taking decisions considering numerous scenarios is praiseworthy
People crying for Erwin, Armin ....i am crying for Bertolt
I felt sad for all
I love how there are no bad guys in aot just a matter of perspective
You don't just choose a smart highschool kid over the president and go unpunished, S4 is here to proove us. If Erwin were alive in S4, it would all be different
This dude cried 3 episodes straight LOL that's a fan.
Dammit, it’s like the thousand time I’ve seen Erwin’s death and it still hurts :(
By the way, you guys may not have noticed immediately, there no music in the episode except at the end. This episode was carried entirely by the voice acting, timing, and atmosphere.
there's no right or wrong decision on which one to choose.. they're both played an important role in their own way..
The "Little guy" is now the Big guy.
Moustache (right side guy ) : "yep, here we go again" face XD
no matter how many times i watch this, i always cry ;-;
Guys in these next episodes you need to really pay attention because they're going to give a lot of information that will answer a lot of your questions
Also I've never seen yall so quiet haha
Maybe it's the classic martyr machanism but after this season Erwin became my favorite character, ah who I'm I kidding he always was
The music is on some game of Thrones shit 🔥🔥🔥 this season is unreal triple SSS tier
Love hearing all their sweet, justified theories before an episode. You just can’t predict this story. You try, then it fucks your brain.
16-17-18 Is the best sequence of episodes I have ever seen. (Some people don't count 16 I don't know why)
"It feels good to laugh after the last episode."
Ooooooof, here it comes.
The next few episodes are very informative and emotional also. Have the tissues ready.😭
"they better get that fricking rematch at some point"
Man i love your reactions i love this channel
Welcome to basement trilogy. They will answer a lot of your questions, and you will have even more questions than before ❤️
i just finished reading 132 leaks dude im still crying T_T can wait to cry again here again
Definitely on my top 5 of reactors!
It's interesting that you 3 reactors individually represent how each person here reacted. I can say my reaction to these eps were exactly like Joeybrahhh.
This episode was absolutely silent. No music at all holy Frick. Just goes to show how powerful AOT can be.
I can feel the stress in the room lol
tfw erwin dies before he finds out the truth about the world. the saddest part
"Midnight Sun". I love this title.
Me too😃😃😃
A great reaction channel indeed. Keep up the good work
The thumbnail shows my last 3 brain cells during a chemistry test
I cried four episodes straight when I was watching it. Like loud sobbing. It was insane. Although I understand the choice, I hate Erwin had to go. He was such an amazing character.
Did you know that this eps is the only anime that got 10/10 rating of all the anime ~ have a good day
7:26 the moment they realize hahaha
Its the best episode ive seen in my Life i swear
Erwin the most selfless person in all of anime characters.
great emotional episode but i still lmfaoo when reiner gets saved by the cart titan
He didn't pick Armin to live, he let Erwin rest.
Idk about y'all, but Floch definitely has say in the matter. Along with his fellow recruits, they charged right at the Beast Titan knowing they'd all die, and he's the sole survivor. That's gotta fuck you up. Despite being a new character at this time, he's got plenty of say imo.
Imagine if they injected it into Armin and it turned out that he was already dead, that would have been hilarious (it's kinda bs armin was still alive after all that)
Nope it’s not. Armin had his odm gear attached to the colossal titan when he fell & he fell in a rooftop so again not a 60 meter drop
RIP
Before anyone says something, dreams dont win wars.
@@ayoCC yeah but it never worked.
@@ayoCC can you explain your comment more clearly about talking it out and when?
@@ayoCC So Erwin could not do that? He had to fight but he could also solve issues. Also at this point, he scouts don't know what's up ahead. if there is more fighting to be done or is the enemy gone. They don't know if they need a fighter for what's to come. They could have a negotiator like Hange(you said so yourself) and a fighter like erwin. Just in case. They took a huge gamble without knowing what was to come. Also im caught up in the manga, dont worry.
@@ayoCC so thats why erwin has more pros for me. Also the age between them wont matter if you know what i mean. Some people say that it does, not you.
