The drummer.... fantastic
Every time I watch this guy I am blown away! Every….single…time!
This guy learned how to play on a self made guitar with bicycle cables for strings. No joke.
Yeah; he said he found an old board and unwrapped the brake cables.
I'm reminded of Jack White's comment at the beginning of "It Might Get Loud" -- "Who says you gotta BUY an electric guitar?"
you can see that in his playing... so raw and so organic... really lacking in many modern pampered guitarists...
So strong 🙏🏻
@@joeldcanfield_spinhead Except that's sort of the "story" White created around himself. It's fine, and technically true. It inspired me about 10 years ago, but then when you see the real thing, it sort of cheapens the deal with White. Sahara Rock is something to really fall in love with!
I've seen a guy who just put a wooden slat in a small oil canister and put on some wires on it .. nearly the same happened in Mali hundreds of years ago .. an they say the guitar came originally from there ..
This guys play music coming from deep in the Sahara...it is a soul music...music of Wind and sands...
Is the world ready for this? Thumbs up for the band !
I’m from Ethiopia and I like Mdou, he is just phenomenal playing a lead guitar! I love your music, I bet it’s from Niger !
Oromo?
Yes he's a Taureg from Niger.
I'm a old guy. I detest shredding.
Except Mdou. He shreds with grace and melody and I laugh out loud every time he plays.
to him it isn't even shredding, thats why its so awe inspiring
That's the thing I wasn't understanding about my love for him, that it makes me smile. Usually music like this played on a guitar doesn't make you smile, but him playing it puts a smile on my face.
Mdou Moctar is the celebration of life and music.
Haha I love this sentence!
This is true. His music brings so much optimism and joy
I still remember this comment Everytime I hear Mdou
@@nonameishere7234 This comment has made my week. Glad to know you felt that way.
the drummer is beyond limits..
Just mad talent. What a gift that we can enjoy this here in North America.
Mdou Moctar has the most absolutely insane picking I've ever seen. This beautiful man has more speed in his index finger than most could pull off with alternate picking in full tilt wrist-breaker mode
"Sorry, we're out of guitar picks"
Mdou Moctar: What's a guitar pick?
That drummer is freakin awesome. Skins so loose he can feel the wind from them. AWESOME !
Immense love from Sudan for this incredible performance
He has such a cool style. It’s like he invented his own language on the guitar.
Normal...He is a BERBER...😎
It is love in my ears. That is what I hear when Mdou Moctar play.
This song, "Afrique Victim", belongs to the new album Afrique Victim. Great song.
that drummer is so good
nice pace
Like a train
The guitar sounds great...OMG The Drummer is ground breaking and so good! Great team👍✅
A very smooth guitar sound, apperantly mdou not only knows his way round melody but also sound, excellent choice of gear a strat with a sustaniac pick up on the neck plugged into a roland jazz chrous amp, shows he avoided the shrillness that could have showed as he is playing quite high up in the neck, kudos , top musician!
abi bana tavsiye versene bukadar iyi bilen bir türk olarak
We all love Mdou Moctar...and the rest of the band ofcourse!
Primal Just Primal!!! I play drums and other things and these guys break it down to our core!
guitar looks like a necklace on this guy😂 watch that thumb action its amazing this dude is huge
Best part? The audience is actually enjoying the music instead of staring into their phones as they record it and barely pay attention!
i love portland
I noticed that!!! People are actually tuned in 👍🏽
Never heard anything so fast and so Good. HIGH SPEED !!!!
Awesome, brilliant performance from the One and Only Mdou Moctar 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I read a comment once saying that Mdou is the celebration of life and music. 🎉
What a gift, soooogoodaahh
O riff base dessa música é facilmente reconhecimento entre um solo e outro. A energia dançante dessa música marca a sua mensagem. Fantástico!
As impressive as ever. A great player 🎸👍
So great. So glad I discovered these guys watching them getting videos of some songs outside of a friends house, for like three nights in a row. It became a concert scene for the local community, there’s a vid of it on their channel!✌️
Le hendrix africain bravo mon gars superbe
The irony of calling Mdou to "PICKfest" 😄. Great guitarist
Glad I just found these. They rock.
Superb Rhythm Section
This sound, these drums, this vibe, this band..... subhan allah
your name is fukcing awesome
Big Respect from Algeria 🇩🇿
What a incredible band
Great music and fantastic players!
What a sound! I don't get a word of what he's singing, but it sounds unbelievably good.
In a nutshell, the lyrics are about how Africa as a continent and its people are victims to many crimes, and the people must speak out against them to avoid their own destruction. The song is called Afrique Victime, you can check out the official video on Mdou's channel which has the full translation.
First time here. Seeing that he was left handed I decided I better take a look. I'm glad I did!
Brilliant Mdou, world's best guitarist👏👏👏👏👏👏🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋❤❤❤❤
Dig the music, love the back story too! great fret work. A few sessions with someone like Richard Thompson or Knopfler would really blow up the music world.
this dude is incredible
No one out there as brilliant as Mdou👏👏👏👏👏👏❤❤❤❤🙋🙋🙋🙋🙋
I like people are actually dancing in the background
Wiiii mon frère mdou moctar bravo pour le musique très magnifique 😍👏😍🤩💓🤝🇩🇿✌️✌️
Pickathon: No picks needed for MDou my bois!

mind blowing
Right!? So good
What a band
Boomers and X'ers loving it - Boomers especially "Hey, I watched his father and uncle both play guitar in Woodstock".
So much strength on the index finger.
Brilliant, mo-oooore! 👏👏👏
I like how everyone on the left side of the stage is dancing and jumping, meanwhile everyone on the rights side looks like they are dead inside
Toumast iyett, itouss iyenn
Reminds me of where Jimi was venturing.
Beatiful. Pure feeling

fantastique, fantastisch, fantastic...
BRILLIANT VIDEO LOVE LOVE LOVE IT !🤘
I do love the white guy in Touareg gear. He’s a kick ass bass player, too!
He looks like a fro-ed up Edward Snowden! What a rebel!
Absolutely destroying any conceptions of what we thought music was or could be!
🥰
Actually he is also the producer of this band.
From Mdou Website
Producer & bassist Mikey Coltun flies 20 hours from Brooklyn, NYC, then takes a 28 hour bus ride to reach Agadez so the band can practice and record. With no support from a major label or a manager, they made this journey out of Niger every time they toured. In the past three years, Mikey’s played over 500 shows on three continents as Mdou Moctar’s bassist, road manager, producer/recording engineer, and friend. Coltun recorded and produced Afrique Victime around the band’s travels in 2019- in studios, apartments, hotel rooms, venue backstages, and in field recordings in Niger.
Love it!😊
I love it!
musik yang bagus bos ku mantap
Guauuu. Qué buena música. Y qué buenísima la realización. Cámaras, dirección...
That drummer is wide open on every song..dudes unrelenting!
This seems to be an early rendition of "Afrique Victime" in case anyone is wondering what the song's name is.
Очень приятно слушать! Молодцы ребята!
great Mdou
amazing
Do they interrupt with these inappropriate ads on purpose just to spoil the mood? Like we really want to hear about kitchen fittings or Grammarly in the middle of Mdou Moctar solo. Who do they think is paying them any attention?
How else are they supposed to get money?
@@skyrothman8651 How is this getting them money when it makes them unpopular and everyone just clicks off anyway. On television they have commercial breaks, which is okay. But my point is that in this context it's intrusive and there is an option to skip add (which I imagine everyone does). Do some people actually stop what they're watching to watch the add? Should be illegal just like nuisance phone calls.
@@johnshort5003 what other way are they supposed to monetize it? Yeah the adds are a little inconvenient, but they’re necessary
Very beautiful
Ай хорошо-то как...

bombino namu madou moctar namune
And those they are saying, ( oh Jimmy was a way better ) Not at all, this guy was born in the Sahara desert, and not in the US. Know the difference of the two places? Try it for just one day with a portable amplifier with a heavy battery. And the transport have no four wheels but four legs, and can kick really hard. Or can crack a grown man skulls with their mouth.and Mdou wrote hundreds of songs. And Jimmy? Maybe twenty!
The whole band
Tanmirt mdou mouctar sond indigeno NORD AFRiCA Big sahara in world

😂😂😂😂😂 hahoma bdaw inessbo kolchi l dzayr
dosnt use picks like mark knop, in a pickathon.. badass
1:58 how does he get those trills by only using one hand?
You can do that on electric guitar just by hammering and pull off the string.
