Peridot is pronounced like Peridough silent t on it and an alternative has been given for those not into the pretty lime/forest green is now Tanzanite. Tourmaline is also your national gemstone and can be found in California and in New England, both gem grade. Emeralds can be found in Connecticut, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, and South Carolina. Another alternate stone for June is Moonstone and can also be found in lovely shades in the US.
