The biggest sin of this game for me is that the recruits can be the most normal Person, but as soon as they are DedSec, they have NO PROBLEM AT ALL with becoming the most hardcore criminals, beating up people, stealing cars and outright KILLING in the regular. I would have liked some mechanic where some characters refuse to commit some felonies. So that you can only do Hardcore stuff with hitmen, spies or thugs.

The game would've benefited from being able to create your own character instead. And then recruiting characters through side missions, or let us make extra characters maybe even let us establish relationships.
Because if every single person is like this then they deserve the system they have.

Ironically, I think Watch Dogs could be a great game if it worked a bit more like AC1. Specifically, setting up the mission, learning about your target, and securing an escape route. Throw in some fun, real world hacker tricks like social engineering and RFID implants and you could make a solid cyber-punk heist game.

One thing that continues to bother me about Watch Dogs:
the very first game seemed to be setting up a through-line future-of-the-series plot hook over the course of the entire game with Blume and ctOS. How they were using the system to secretly monitor everyone's private lives, and were planning to do SOMETHING clearly nefarious and sci-fi-dystopic with all the behavioral information they were covertly gathering.
It SEEMED to be setting up that plot, but nothing happened with an actually clever and timely sequel hook even after two more games. Hell, learning how much of our lives and opinions can be influenced by search engine and advertising algorithms after our own actual collective behavioral data has been harvested and sold to the highest bidders in the last few years, returning to that abandoned plot hook would've been even more timely than a weird psuedo-brexit-sorta-criticism.

This is what I’ve tried telling people who seem to praise this games recruit system. It becomes completely redundant once you find a recruit you actually like since you have no reason to play any other recruits the only 3 recruits you need are a hacker, hitman/spy or a construction worker. Once you have those 3 I guarantee you don’t need any other recruits because the game isn’t that difficult either.

I feel like it's going to be a lot of typing at the wind but I wanted to get my piece of mind spelt out on a possible way Ubi could've made the Legion thing work:
MAIN CHARACTERS - They're there and they're playable, but playing as one is like setting a campfire in a fireworks factory due to the strict security systems around the city and heat being almost impossible to shake off once you get it unless you run off in a shelter, so for the most part you're coerced into recruiting people who are able to walk around freely. In some parts of the story you will be forced to play them in order to have a character progression, mostly to act on a personal matter or inner circle business
RESTRICTIONS MAKE BETTER CHARACTERS - Each operative is made more human by applying more or less restrictions on what they're willing to do for the cause, the easiest recruits to find generally have the most restrictions being unable of committing certain crimes and exposing themselves too much while the rarest are completely unrestricted in the actions they can do but other particularities are imposed onto them that restrict you from free roaming too long with them
TIME IS IMPORTANT - Time is a mechanic now and one of those particularities I mentioned, some operatives will be unavailable for use at certain times of the day to at least imitate the fact people tend not to throw their lives away the moment they're boarded by some activist. The clock will run slower to allow you more time with a single operative and if you start a mission time limitations aren't counted but the potential introduction of time sensitive quests or time of day-based events will still make sure to make time relevant
RECRUITMENT - To find a possible recruit in an area you either move up and down until you find a possible applicant or, well, activate a tower and you're periodically updated on new recruits. When you activate the recruitment process you're indicated to approach the person and give them a call, after the introductions you can decide to either control the character trough the recruitment process (randomized depending by their job occupation and skills) or auto-resolve and if they succeed they're good for use after 3 days to simulate Dedsec passing them trough their field guide
WHAT TO KEEP - Some special recruits won't be put in a trial but rather Dedsec already knows their abilities (former MI6, expert hackers or militants), this has you accomplish favors for them like what's already in the game, similar in size to one of the favors you do for Raymond in the first
SPECIAL RECRUITS - As mentioned above, these rare characters all have a significant story behind them and so are also held with greater regards in the number of voice lines they have and they're addressed by. Some may have a history with the Government and Albion which translates into you receiving side objectives when doing a mission to fullfill some of their interests
SPICE THINGS UP - Like how you can invade the privacy of random civilians and hear their calls/read their messages, your operatives as you use them may happen to receive calls or messages partly to give them a soul and to also try and keep you entertained during low times (or high times, imagine being called by your wife in the middle of a chase and hearing your character try to find an excuse to discuss them later or maybe their phone rings in the middle of stealth)
MERCS AND FIXERS - If you can't complete a mission with the operatives you have recruited and don't have the patience to find one but you do have a lot of money, you can hire a number of named fixers to complete some content. They have their own equipment, are paid by the hour and starting a mission with them also carries an added cost, completing a mission has them call it a day forcing you to swap away from them, and swapping from them will put you on a cooldown from calling them again
MISSION FAILURES AND GETTING CAUGHT - Outside of crucial story missions, the game doesn't reload to a previous save in the case of failure but rather they will be apprehended and you will lose them permanently unless you have another operative that's able to, say, bust them out of the hospital from Albion surveillance or one of your other ops just so happens to be in proximity for them to intervene. If a fixer gets apprehended there's a 50-50 chance for them to be unavailable to call again until you complete the main story line, after that they will simply go on a very long cooldown and temporarily increase their employment price
    - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Something will also have to be done to give a reason for things to remain the same in the post-game, the idea of the war between Albion and Dedsec being unending with multiple randomized events still popping up is one, you don't want to risk having people 100% the game and then have nothing to do before they're even able to get halfway trough making their legion.
There's also to point out the game is a train wreck in multiple areas, being unaccomplished in its main gimmick is only a small sin in all this and overall the game would've still been disappointing even with all these touches. The villains aren't in any way realistic, the stakes are so artificial the game feels like a saturday morning cartoon rather than a disturbingly realistic dystopia like the one represented in Watch Dogs 1 and 2, the logic behind it all is deeply flawed and you would need to delete a lot of the things which were said in the earlier titles for many things to make sense and they would still struggle a lot in doing so. Improving the "Legion" system would have at the very least made the game interesting due to this main gimmick but that's not the case.

From what I've seen of the readable info in Sabine's evil lair, her motivations were similar to one of the Dave's from Watchdogs Bad Blood. She stands for the radical foundation of the older Dedsec, and wants to destroy the CTOS as a whole instead of using it. She had her allies killed because they didn't follow it's original principles of dismantling the system instead of just fighting against it.
They certainly could of done a better job integrating that into the her actual dialogue instead of leaving her with vague lines that don't touch upon her motivation. Better yet, they could have given us a choice to decide if we want to help her or work against her. Makes more sense than choosing to let Skye Larsen live.

With a lot of terrible writing, errors and bugs and going in a direction of arbitrary completionism to fluff out "open worlds" with increasingly less actual player agency, so they can hamfist their bad writing. Like far cry 5 can't even be beaten, both endings are a loss. It's just another map full of bases to claim and silly collectables and side quests that are just excuses for minigames, occasionally interrupted by an immutable, heavy handed story the player has zero effect on whatsoever. I couldn't bring myself to finish it. Far cry 3 was fun cuz it felt new, even though I hated the plot. The cringeful "edgy" stories just got worse and more forced for basically exactly the same game mechanics, which are no longer near enough foundation for the whole shambles of a franchise to stand on. Or the sad anticlimax of the watch dogs property as seen here.
TL;DR they kinda suck (also fuck Origin DRM), yet are hailed in the press as on the forefront of gaming innovation even though they haven't really innovated in like ten years. That's my take anyway.

I have no idea where Dartigan got that from. And neither is the "European Processing Centre" a metaphor for China's treatment of the Uighur Muslims, but rather an anvilicious take on the Brexit-induced treatment of Europeans & immigrants, & the general xenophobia of people wanting them out of Britain (and it's both extremely blatant & half-assed, given this commentary never factors into the main plot at all, see Not Tonight instead for a better game that handles this scenario). I mentioned this elsewhere, but alas, it's Dartigan committing the same sin as the game: Putting the blame on someone else instead of actually addressing the issue.

    Ah yes, Terrorist Simulator 2020.
"We'll show them we aren't terrorists, by being terrorists."
But seriously, even by CCP standards, these villains are beyond comedically over the top, or just pathetically flop. Throw in some of the worst English accents I've ever heard of, and you have a perfectly meeeh Ubisoft game.

AC Odyssey : you can recruit any NPC for your crew AFTER assaulting them.
Legion : you can recruit any NPC in your crew UNLESS you've assaulted them.
See, it's not the same, they've evolved.

The proper sequel of this game is where the Drones and spider-robots used by these edgy gang-hacker Terrorists gain sentience and organize their own mini-uprising against their Human enslavers, foiling the Humans plans at staging their Human Uprising.

I must admit while I've kinda enjoyed Legion. I've not enjoyed it as much as I did with the original game and Watch Dogs 2.
I think it's because that London isn't like the realistic versions of Chicago and San Francisco. Sure, the street layout might not be the same but as someone who can't travel over to America just yet due to funds, it was nice to explore realistic cities and I was looking forward to exploring London as I live in the East Anglia Reigon and never been to London except on a school trip years ago but it's just such an ugly version of the city. Too much neon and futuristic technology.
I know the technology has always been pretty much futuristic with hacking line of sight mechanics but Legion just goes too far in my opinion.
While not many people liked it; I miss the storyline similar to Aiden's of avenging a fallen family member killed by parties unknown. I just don't care about revolutions or helping expansive cities. At least in Watch Dogs 2; it was all leading to ruining Blume's reputation in some way.
I'm just looking forward to Aiden's return alongside Wrench next year.
