Thanks for your service. I was on Yankee Station on the USS Coral Sea (CVA-43)(tail designation NL) from 12 November 1971 until 17 July 1972, with Marine All Weather Attack Squadron 224 (only 2nd Marine Air Wing in Vietnam). We flew A-6A's, A-6B's and KA-6D tankers with a EA-6B Prowler & lost 3 aircrews. We had one F-8 Crusader on board for reconnaissance. We had 2 F-4 fighter squadrons, VF-111 & VF-51, along with 2 Navy A-7D squadrons, VA-22 & VA-94. We are the ones who mined Hiaphong harbor in May 1972. Ohhh Rahh. Semper Fi. Cheers from an old Marine sergeant in eastern TN
Small world , I was on that cruise as well with VAQ-135 in the EKA-3b. Remember when Major Clyde Smith of VMA-224 was shot down and was on the mission when he was rescued. Be well shipmate.
10 yrs old in 1970, we had Christmas at my grandparents house, my uncle Jack was home on leave from Vietnam where he piloted the F4 Phantom, I was in awe, I wanted to ask a lot of questions, but I realized he wasn't there to talk about the war. Thank God to all who've served and to those who serve today. 🇺🇸🙏
I always thought the Phantom was such a cool-looking plane. I remember watching them take off and land from the UK Carrier HMS Ark Royal in 1976. The Phantom was one hell of a noisy aircraft.
This was a heafty ,large substantial aircraft indeed. I remember them in the seventies at Moffat AFB as a youngster. Plus the drag races at Fremont. Hairy times indeed.
Considering the fact that the top aces in Vietnam were all VPAF I think he is being a little disingenuous in saying the Migs were less of a threat than AAA.

I bet you were excited to tell your friends at school about him. I would have been.

Pls do one about the A-37 Dragonfly pls
amazing!
Maneuvering WHAT just listen from 1:07:05 to 1:07:09 I bet the Marines love them. 😂
Too bad the politicians of that era let the war drag for so long , and not let US forces show there true strength.
Why did the USA lose vietnam???

Finally someone talking the truth rather than your typical American bull 💩! This was the whole Vietnam war in a nutshell!!!
