  • Cruising from Lock #6 at Frankford up to Campbellford looking for an overnight stop proved to be a bit of a challenge. The reason being was that there were so many boaters doing the Great Loop this summer that they all seemed to arrive right where we wanted to go each day and Campbellford was no different. In fact, this was the first time in memory that there was actually no spaces available at the Town tie up walls at Campbellford.
    Good news was that we did get a spot at the top side of 'Lucky Lock #13' just past town. And yes, it was another long and very hot (!!) day of cruising and we were exhausted by the time we got there. . .

    Well would you look at that! The trip ends, the sun comes out and there's celebratory libations to be had. Great part of the cruise to watch. Thanks.

    When I watch your videos, I usually feel a need to listen to Rush - my two favorite things to come from Ontario - your videos and Rush. :-)

    A spot I have tied up when the town walls are full is the top of lock 11,12 just by the blue swing bridge. I talked to the lock staff and used the end of the blue wall. From there you can easily walk into town for some light provisions. It's a nice walk along the canal using the town's trail.

    We've been waiting for this installment of the series cause we thought we'd get a chance to see our boat, but you cut away to show the lock about 30 seconds early, lol. We were the last boat on the west side wall, just about under the bridge (someone mentioned on the radio that we were taking the last spot, lol). So close and yet so far, LOL. Really enjoying this series as it mirrored our trip to Trenton and back around the same time.

      Not sure what was going on there - never seen that before either. Maybe it was some sort of way to cool down from the insane heat we had that day . . . and the previous day . . . and the next two days after this :-0

    Thats a big door at lock 12 😮
    What's up with the loop next year?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  4 года назад

      That's the Flight Locks #11/12 at Campbellford. There's an even more impressive set at Healey Falls, Locks #16/17 - coming up in the next video 😉
      I'm gonna try to post a video talking about how/why The Loop is going to be impossible for many next year. All down to way overdue maintenance at many locks along the Illinois Waterway. . . We are so fortunate to have very well maintained locks, etc. here on the Trent Severn Waterway - something I comment on in another future video

    Just out of curiosity; does your boat "go up on plane" or is it too large for that type of travel?

    • @BoatingWithBoogaboo
      @BoatingWithBoogaboo  4 года назад

      Of course! With the twin 7.4 litre engines on this boat, we can get up on plane no problem. The day I filmed this video we were in an area where traveling at speed is not really an option, hence the slow cruising. If you check out my channel, you'll find lots and lots of videos of us speeding effortlessly over the water on this #boat 😁 Here's a link to one on particular that I filmed awhile back; ruclips.net/video/1FiOFsBdY-I/видео.html
