I used to be able to buy anything in FFXIV on the auction house just by speculating. Knew the price range for every item off the top of my head. I've been making very very little progress in sto. I do have a 32c disco f2p but it took years of flipping doffs on multiple characters. It's tough to get into higher EC stuff without buying zen but I still appreciate all this
Awesome vid, this is a great way to get items without the gambling. Note the Delta Promo packs are at 41 mill at the typing of this post. I always find keys the most reliable and fastest way for EC when I want to get something asap. Something else I do when I am opening for promo boxes. I save the doff packs for a few weeks then sell them. I find there is a price dip on the doff packs themselves during these events. Great vid and explanation.
Yeah like I was telling Trizander @IceKnight currently keys for a pack of ten are sitting at 100 millionish on console. I wasn't planning on going this route initially but after a little over a month and a half of admiralty and duty officer missions I don't even have my first hundred million. Think this is the method I'll be choosing since I can start getting a ship a month or so depending on what I want off the exchange.
I'll tell you guys it took me about 1-2 years to fully get to this point of buying promo ships and reselling them... also had 10 years of World of Warcraft Freaking AUCTION HOUSE TIME!!!! Lol don't worry its totally easy..
Two things have sucked me into buying R&D packs… first, they throw them into other bundles as fluff (DAT PITY POINT), and second, they do generate the upgrade boosts. Certainly not saying either one of those justifies that purchase over Delta DOFFs, LOL. Even though I probably have “pity point” karma built up with the R&D packs, I’m thinking of dumping some leftover Zen into Delta packs now, because of the ROI even if I rip the promo part of the pack myself.
@@CasualSAB This was much more than a video about getting your promo ships without gambling and within reason. 5 years playing and I had assumed delta pack were the better but this laid out so much more as to why and how to invest my hoard going forward.!
Re: Delta Doffs This isn't even a good way to play the market. I dropped half a billion EC once on these hoping to score one for me and maybe sell a couple to recoup costs. Nope. It's the same rat race everything else is. I took a freaking bath on them. Something like 50 packs later, I managed to get a single trait box (Point Defense) and maybe 5 VR's. None of them were Energy Weapon Officers. I was, however, drowning in Quartermasters, Matter-Antimatter specialists and Biologists.
Telling everyone how to do it will fix inflation so lol thx.. market is about to get flooded with keys.. also don't forget to undercut the lowest bid if you want a quick return.. the economy doesn't move around the ships, it moves around the keys..
I kinda feel bad, once I bought 100 keys for 1,000,000 ec but couldn't get a hold of the dude who sold them. Good for me, made a but load of credits off that, but felt really guilty.
Great content, sadly for console players, like me on xbox, the market isn't quiet the same our ship prices on the exchange usually are close to the ones on pc, but keys just sell for about 7-7.3 mil per, and promo packs for 20-22.5mil per, with delta packs going from 25-27mil! Thx!
This ^ I've only been playing a couple months but I really wanted to get one of the promo ships but with the keys around 7.1 mil per and rarely even seeing some of the most wanted ones on there its kinda heart breaking. Still doable though just takes more. IF the ships pop up on there.
One thing I spotted - you used '! - r' to search for the romulan survivor pack but it actually brought back the R&D pack on screen, I presume you should have searched with '! - ro'
I'm pretty surprised you didn't mention the reinforcement duty officer packs where you can get the ground nurse that could potentially give you up to a 20% hull regeneration rate each for your Starship and you can put three of them in your ground duty officer slots giving you 60%hull regen? leaving your space officer slots open for something else but that's a coveted secret isn't it
It's not really a secret, just not something most care about. And those doff packs do not currently have a promotional version, so they aren't relevant to a video talking about the best ways to convert zen to ec.........
@@CasualSAB promo box or not I still found it odd that you would leave out one of the most expensive hard to get Duty Officers that you could sell for massive EC. I mean let's be real here the meat of your conversation was how to get ec to buy a promo box ship Well you get a rare ground duty nurse with that space hull regen trait and you're freaking rich. And don't hand me that it's not a secret because it is and you know it.
@@Samuraith2077 they come in Infinity lock boxes but you can buy them off the exchange the pack and the nurse sold separately but you better be ready to throw down some coin because they're hard to find and they're very expensive one of the most expensive doffs in the game
I am too old to use spreadsheets this is why we watch all of Spencer's videos, he does the work for us. Thank you, kind sir, for all of the info.
Glad to help!

Thanks for the information and the spreadsheet. I have recently been investing in the market a bit myself, but probably nothing like what you do.

Very informative, excellent video.

👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Excelent explanation
That's not actually the Romulan Survivor pack price you're seeing at 7:27, right?
Good catch, that was a mistake on my part.
VERY GOOD VIDEO!
What is the "TRADING CHANNEL"? Where is it? And is it on ps4/console?
Sorry, that is a channel run by players on the PC version of STO. I don't know if the console community has anything similar.

“How to get promos under $100”
Step 1: Be Turtle
Do all the girls onboard have to wear mini-dresses?

Yeah, was a slip up on my part. That would indeed be the correct way to look for the rom packs.
Before I even watch the vid...are we getting "fear the beard" back? I see a slimmer of awesomeness growing on your chin
Sorry, it was all shaved off just a few hours later. No beard again anytime soon for me.

Chris is that in the C store the reinforcement duty officer pack? That sounds super helpful. @Chris H
It only works for Feds, cant get em Klink side.

THERE A FUCKING SPREADSHEET FOR THIS? Is this Eve online?
There is a spreadsheet so people can customize this at any time in the future to adjust values to what is relevant then.
You have 0 EC you be poor sadge
