That's right. But assume you're a spectator. Are you entertained by someone standing in the same position for 90 seconds, making a blur of his/her feet? Does that hold your attention the whole time while you try to marvel at the pad lights, the arrow stencils, and the player's lower body?
Imagine someone gets on and starts rocking forward and back, leaning side to side, spinning around, and hits steps with their knees or hands. Where are you looking? I'd bet you'll glance at the screen from time to time for score (hey, it's a game with a score count), and you'll check the stencils, but will both of those be as entertaining for you to watch as whatever this person is doing? Are all three a single package with each one equal in value? Or might you hold the player himself/herself at greater value than what's on the screen?

Bracketing on my home cab (ddr) is impossible for my small feet. Seems ITG has better pads for bracketing for sure. Can’t wait to get an SMX pad to actually bracket on quads and hands

Its to conserve energy pal. Songs like these are stamina killers, and you need all the energy you got to clear them, so instead of stepping out super wide they keep their legs closer together so they dont have to move as much and waste energy

The responsive sensors does make it to where you don't have to curb-stomp each note (like some older DDR cabs, not naming names), but the responsive sensors isn't what makes your legs move from one arrow to the next. That's the body's role, and that's the hard part.

The existence of custom songs on the machine also implies (though doesn't guarantee) that there's at least some degree of maintainance. Pads that are not kept in a good shape are painful to play on.

@@locke103 I started playing in 2003, and got good in late 2004. The speed mods really helped me progress quick. And those were also frowned upon. Now I actually like to use lower speed mods to get a better feel for the rhythms. I don't read as quick as I used to. But thankfully still accurate
