  • "The Book" is the third episode of the Breaking Barriers video series. The episode describes what it can be like for deaf people to navigate the hearing world. Kristeen Elliott goes through the library to find a book but needs help finding it. When she tries to communicate using sign language, her primary form of communication, she needs help explaining to people what book she is looking for. It is important to recognize the limitations and challenges that the deaf community faces so we can understand how we can better accommodate their needs.
Breaking Barriers is a video series created by King's graduate, Moses Latigo Odida '09, in partnership with the Office of EDID as a result of the recommendations from the Anti-Racism Working Group Report. The video series will tell the story of equity-denied groups at King's and will help amplify their voices.
