If each student and teacher goes on hunger strike, what will happen? That many issues have been kept pending in NEHU. 1. Employee promotion cases and appointments kept pending 2. Mainenance and repair whether it is hostel or buildings and also no new quarters built in this decade 3. Low upgradation and installation of facilities like lifts, for specially challenged. 4. Poor hostel facilities and even hostel non availab 0:00 ility to students, leading to thriving PG hostels outside 5. Nil teachers' redressal of grievances, like pending promotion and correction cases, lack of incentives to new faculty, funds cut for financial sponsorships for seminars. The central government is solely responsible for all this, by way of the selection of the wrong VCs the past decade. If the previous VC damaged NEHU, with favoritism, academic dysfunctioning marred by his nil academic vision, and vindictive behaviour, the present one seems to continue the legacy of delay, keeping inactive in restoring justice, favouring his ideology and conducting all his activities with dictates from his ideology. Both broke the record of NEHU's regular conduct of official events like convocation. Wait for politicians to conduct official events and the inevitable delay has become the trend of these two VCs. The plight of academics begins there. Further, this VC did not solve the issues created by the previous ones, like corruption charges, headship removals, promotion cases of those pending for the past decade, conveniently keeping mum. Even the Golden Jubilee celebrations were kept pending, god only knows whether due to wait for some politician from Delhi. Until academics is free of this ideology politics, no university can rise and build. Hasty implementation of NEP is another major failure in his gamut. Hence, despite his intentions to do good, despite his initial readiniess to have dialogues, if he had not followed the dictats of his ideology and tried to be a practical minded administrator, he would have succeeded and would not have faced flak today.
I hope the students are not being misled by some opportunists. From the way the students are putting forth their demands seems it is going to benefit some people who are behind the chaos. The demand for having one or two particular societies to hold high position in the university is really questionable since NEHU is financed by the central government?. As per the conversation with teachers of the university it seems that the problems started years back but why no action was taken at that time by the teachers and students? When the fire is still little it is easy to put off. But why wait and procastinated. My perception and belief is that there are some forces trying to damage te reputation of the university which has served the hill states for many decades. Now each state have their own University and some private universities. Damaging NEHU is the only way to pave way for them. NEHU is the only university that charges very minimum fees. NEHU in the past have the best teaching faculties. In the 90s Indians from all over India have taken a degree especially in B.Ed. If NEHU is gone many poor students will never get to study higher education. For I know all these newly formed universities are charging big fees. Money is the only criteria to get admission.
You are underestimating the power of students. Do you think our students can be misled? Perhaps their redressal seeking did not find fruit and that's why they have to go outside NEHU to pressurize the VC.
@malarenganathan576 will the law allow for their demand be met? The VC have already stated he is appointed as per the law. He also stated that he has done nothing wrong so morally he will remain adamant.. the involvement of pressure group just from one particular community is a matter of question. There should be no specific group or students should just be students of NEHU. . Now new situations are taking place. Vandalism of public property inside NEHU premises has taken place and the organiser of the protest are being held responsible. Yes students are powerful only when they act and perform lawfully. I have been a student and also leader of students in collge. Please do not teach me about students power
@@ioanniswallang255 @ioanniswallang255 Who am I to teach anyone about student power? I am a nobody, only a teacher with concern for my students. I was never part of any student organisation but learnt a lot about politics and activism much later in life. However, students have denied any hand in the vandalism..it could be any fringe elements disrupting any peaceful protest, which has been the trend these days all over the country. As you are more experienced in this students movement history, you might also guess that how a student movement goes, what direction it takes, one does not know. Certainly, we as teachers will be advising our students not to be part of any violence. That's the only thing we can do.
R u foolish or relatives of VC ,.... Anway there is lots of videos in RUclips what the students are demanding n what is the root cause of the protest... Watch other video.. If u need one I will give u the link.. Tell me
Well Said Mr Kharsati.........The VC is adamant while the students are resilient
