Just adding a comment here for those who also have this issue. I was changing the battery and found a loose hanging wire (which was secured to the battery vent tube) and capped off with a plastic end. Wire is green/red stripe and black. It was not connected to anything, nor did there appear to be anywhere to plug it into. I thought I may have accidentally disconnected it upon removal of the original battery. After some searching, it is apparently a transit relay where, during transportation, they connect that wire to ensure the battery doesn't discharge during the long transportation process, and is typically discarded during initial PDI (post-delivery inspection) at the dealership. Apparently that didn't happen, thus it still hanging around. So if you see it -- leave it be, it is useless with or without the cap on it, and can just be left alone.
Was driving me crazy looking for where that plugged in. My brain thanks you for sharing.
This has been a very big help. The terminations on the positive side all looked to me like they would fall apart if I undid the nut at the top :) - Needed to disconnect the battery to reset the ECM. Maybe you've heard the famous quote; "My Range Rover Sport gives me problems all the time. My next car will be another Range Rover Sport!" :)
@ Technical Mechanical, I should have watched your video before changing my battery because i disconnected my positive first and shorted out my circuit to ground. Is there a way to fix this?
Question: I have a 2012 Does H8 size fit? And did you have to 'reset' the battery or just swap out and swap in? Some forum buds have been saying that more has to be done because of computers and electronics and what not. Thanks. Your vids are helpful.
I see you installed an Xs power battery . What size is that battery? I got a 2011 rr sport hse.
You have been a savior for me about how to diy some minor maintenance for my 11’ rrs sc5.0. The dealership just never gonna stop to rip you off. Recently I came across a flickering speedometer pointer problem, it randomly flickering for half an hour and sometimes back to fully illuminating. This happened after a maintenance at dealership and they refuse to fix it instead they charge me $2000 for a complete instrument cluster replacement. Do you have any idea what could have caused it and possible DIY fixes? Really appreciate all your high quality Range Rover videos. You are a savior to all our Rover owners!
I currently have the same problem. I have read it may be a battery that is failing. I'm going to replace my battery and see if it fixes it.
Explaining where to connect tender to avoid resets would have been very helpful.
where to connect the battery tender to maintain codes etc
Didnt show much. How did you get the battery out?
Is this the same for a 2011 Range Rover sport?
Do you have a video for changing the battery in an L494?
I a video for L494 if you need it again!
How do you lower the vehichle if you your battery is dead? Otherwise why would you replace the battery?!
1. Most of the time the battery needs to be replaced because it is old and no longer providing enough cranking amp to start the vehicle. During these situtations, you can still turn on the ignition to lower the vehicle.
2. Most people will get a jump start so they can move the vehicle to a more convenient location to change the battery. If afraid that the battery is completely dead, lower the vehicle before turning it off.
REPLACEMENT BATTERY SHOULD BE A MT-94R H7 800CA
