Okay, I have researched this! Apparently this is a product that's made from pomelo. The 'meat' of the fruit is scooped out, boiled with honey, lemon, licorice, and some other ingredients, and then put back in the pomelo rind. So it is a sort of candy! Now we need to go to Taiwan and try it!
Oh and it's called Pomelo Ginseng

I knew it is a sort like pomelo rind where they scooped out the meat & added with other ingredients to make it tastier...& push it back in the rind... delicious candy 🎉

It's medicinal candy made from pomelo called "Youzisen" dry/herbal pomelo. It's made by hollowing out a pomelo. Then the pith and pulp gets blended until it's mush and Chinese medicinal herbs, malt and honey are added. Then the seasoned paste gets poured back into the hollowed pomelo rind and dehydrated until it's firm. Its taste is described as sweet and savoury, with a citrusy dried fruit and medicinal herb flavour, leaving a hint of bitterness in the finish. Two brands you can look for that are commercially sold are Ma Tzuann Youzisen Herbal Pomelo and Madou Farmers Association Dry Pomelo.

포멜로 과일 속 파내고 안에 설탕및 허브 과일등 끓인거 채워 넣고 굳힌거예요. 저건 포멜로 향인가봄.:) 굳이 이렇게 하지 않고도 실온에서 굳혀 만든 똑같은 갈색 캔디?카라멜?도 있어요. 식후에 소화에 도움 되라고 많이 먹더라구요.

Never seen the whole fruit, but I’ve tried tried the candy in cubes! It has medicinal properties - good for dry cough and throat soothing. Definitely a good souvenir to bring back from Taiwan 😁😁😁
You never tried the whole fruit because it doesn't exist, it's a mix of pommelo,sugar, licorice and some other stuff,cooked and mixed and then they put it back in that shape

So I am Taiwanese, after a quick research it’s now call “Yuzu Sonn”. It’s traditional herbal candy for the purpose to release your throat pain from dry or sign too much(which for me, it do not really fulfil its purpose, just nice taste, minty and sweet😅).
But, all my life I have only see the final product, the small chunks in the end of the video. So I am more surprised then you to spot that its not fruit but dry mix juice…! 😅 because most the time in Taiwan we call it八仙果 “Eight immortals fruit”…. a fake fruit name giving by the market... So I just realize what I ate was not “Dry Eight Immortal Fruit”, it’s literally as its name, 8 different fruits mixed…😂 can’t believe I didn’t realise it all these years until now! Mind blowing🤯
In research, I also learned why I feel it taste differently in my childhood. It was made with god hand fruit, but now they put inside the pomelo due to the cost (the old formula did help my throat in my memory) 🤷🏻♀️.
Anyway, for whom so brave gonna try, make sure the one you buy don’t have bad chemicals, there were news about cancer many years ago, not sure now.

I've that eaten before, it's Quite delicious but a bit sour and spicy, This is not a natural fruit. This is white pomelo fruit and pomelo ginseng. The outer skin is pomelo, and the inside is golden dates, kumquats, honey, malt, fragrant balls, licorice, sugar, salt, and mint. It has been roasted and can be used as a Plant taiwanese medicine and can also be used as snacks.

This makes sense, I was so confused :)) becouse I had never seen a fruit in my life that looks like candy on the inside and like a citrus fruit on the outside :))) stupid title anyways.
This is naturally sunned and dried pomelo- take it as it is for sore throat, or any lung infection- it works, and it has a very refreshing taste, something like liquorice with peppermint.
Are you sure it's Taiwan? This is a very traditional Chinese-Malaysian cure

This snack is common in South East Asia, in Malaysia, we call this kind of snacks Asam-asam, meaning sour. 30-40 variants, pickled fruits or dried. Cheap and delicious, some soothes your throat. There's no brand to it, because it's extremely common that they just open a jar and pack one for you in a paper bag.

I lived in Taiwan for 11 years.. here two tips for you: 1) "it looks like a fruit" it may not mean that's a plain fruit that you never heard of, mostly likely it's not a fruit.. 2) "it looks like chocolate" most DEFINITELY it's not chocolate, but some kind of smashed and treated beans. As you might have read already it's made from a pomelo fruit, sugar and other things. So it's natural, but not a fruit itself!
