Most fans are asleep when PAC-12 teams play, or ignore them anyway. The nature of the beast in the PAC is to throw the ball alot. That's why there are so many top 10 passing attacks in the conference. If you face those QB's, WR'ers, and Passing attacks each week, it is hard to rank high nationally. So the best of those cones to the Sugar Bowl and goes for 430 yards on 70% plus completion percentage. Maybe now you understand?
Penix has had time to get healthy, McMillan is healthy, Odunze is far better than Harrison and then you have Polk. Texas is going to start going after each other for all the break downs and inability to cover.
I respect Washington I know they going to do their thing they a great team. But they not running the ball I know texas ready and they ready to earn their respect from the country. It's going to be a good game but we need our revenge for that Alamo bowl last year. Time to get our get back revenge tour continues let's get this sugar bowl trophy and worry about the next step.
What happened to alabama during the national championship games in which they were favored but lost. The tide went up against 2 nfl ready qb's and nfl ready wideouts. If you don't have db's who could match up against them😮!
Joel Klatt forgot to mention Penix suffered his worst statistical game last season against Texas. Texas game planned to stop the passing game which resulted in a great run game for Washington. I believe Texas will once choose to shut down the pass game forcing Washington to establish the run game, to favor the Texas defense strong point...the d-line. Lots of stuff has gotten better for both teams since they last met, but the most improved unit at the Rose Bowl will be the Texas offense. It will be the best offense on Jan 1st.
How exactly is UT going to shutdown the UW passing game? They don’t get a ton of pressure while UW has the best OL in the country, and the safeties are a weak point. Not even sure UT will shutdown the run game. Utah couldn’t. Oregon couldn’t. Oregon State couldn’t… Sweat is a beast but there’s more to a defensive unit than the interior DL.
5th, right behind Texas, and it played in the pass happy PAC-12, home of many top 10 passing attacks. 4, I believe, maybe 5 of the top 10. No team had more passes attempted against them this season than Washington. None. So if you think the Big 12 throws as much as the PAC-12, you'd be wrong. 5 out of the 12 QB's are locks to play in the NFL. We tried to tell you its a bit different, but you could have watched some tape?
The rankings on offense and defense reflect who each team played this past season. UW played a much stronger schedule and conference - including 5-6 Top 25 teams (if you include USC). Texas has a handful of tough games, but otherwise sailed through a weak Big 12. Texas was favored last year (and lost). Oregon was favored in the Pac 12 Championship game (and lost). UW takes this.
Lmao. The pac 12 is trash. Utah just got beat by Northwestern. Okie state smoked AnM last night. WV smoked NC. Oregon is not a physical football team. Klatt is way off base. Why don't you ever talk about how Washington's passing D is even worse than Texas's? It seems intentionally obtuse. Texas can throw the ball around. Washingtons secondary may be even more outmatched than UT's.
First of all the Dawgs played Oregon (2x), USC, and WSU all top nfl caliber qb's you're gonna give up points and yards to these teams. How many nfl caliber qb's has. Texas played?

Jiminy Christmas Joel. I simply can not think how it makes sense that all of a sudden, a Big 12 team wont be able to handle a passing offense with an elite QB and talented receivers. Is this what we are doing now? Texas has 3 all Americans in the front 7, simply by default the secondary is the weakest link. I'm trying to figure out what else can a team do that can't run consistently on the best D-line in the country besides pass to stay in the game. Oregon may be physical sure, but what good is it when Dan Lanning is calling a boneheaded game. Oregon is not go in to Bama and win by 10 physical, they probably aren't even K-State physical.

All imma say is Joel you act like Texas doesn’t have nfl talent on the offensive side. Playoff football is all about getting stops, what’s more likely to happen, Texas d getting stops or Washington d getting stops Imma roll with Texas because statistically looking at it Texas has the better d (pass defense too lol ) Washington has like the 127th pass defense, no one is mentioning that Texas wins 38-31. Washington will get there points, but I believe Texas can get a few more stops and that will help the difference
They will get pressure, but Texas DL strengths aren’t the edges, it’s the interior and best against the run. I don’t expect the Texas DL to manhandle the UW OL and have Penix running for his life all night. But we will see, weird stuff can happen in bowl games after extended time off
He doesn't need but half that time you don't know about football five seconds is an eternity. Washington has the best pass blocking line in all of football.
Since some of the Texas stars opted out for the Alamo Bowl and did not return this year isn't this essentially the same two teams playing each other again? UW is better than last year (a freakish number of injuries in the last 8 games made UW look worse than they actually are). UW's D-line is the same, LB's better, secondary better (despite a ton of injuries), O-line is a bit new but just won best award for best O-line in the nation, QB and WR's still fantastic and RB Johnson who was their #2 has come on as the season progressed. I'm sure Texas is better too but again, aren't these basically the same teams facing each other as last year? Sweat only got one tackle last year! And the Big 12 was unusually weak this year and has way less blue chip talent than the Pac 12. Texas and OK are loaded but most of the rest of the Big 12 have almost no blue chip players. Texas lost to #4 Oklahoma and won by 3 against TCU, who is #16. Washington's defense has faced #2 twice, #3, #5 and #7.

Total defense: Texas is 26 and Washington is 93
Scoring offense: Texas is 16 and Washington is 10

Most fans are asleep when PAC-12 teams play, or ignore them anyway. The nature of the beast in the PAC is to throw the ball alot. That's why there are so many top 10 passing attacks in the conference. If you face those QB's, WR'ers, and Passing attacks each week, it is hard to rank high nationally. So the best of those cones to the Sugar Bowl and goes for 430 yards on 70% plus completion percentage. Maybe now you understand?

Omg you're right, and washington won that as well
Sugar bowl boss. Wrong about the bowl. Wrong about who you think will win.
Penix still threw for 287 in a "bad" game against Texas last year.
I hate Oregon. and Oregons better than Texas
I like all the motivation all the podcast are giving our Texas defense. Now it’s our time to shut them up period. We welcome this challenge 💪🏽
You do realize that every single publication that tracks SOS says Texas had a tougher SOS than Washington right?
Lmao. The pac 12 is trash. Utah just got beat by Northwestern. Okie state smoked AnM last night. WV smoked NC. Oregon is not a physical football team. Klatt is way off base. Bc all his takes come from analytics. Pac 12 is soft. Oregon barely beat TT in overtime , all the while UT was in Tuscaloosa handling business
I'm saying UW played more games against ranked teams, and the PAC-12 had more ranked teams. Publications have been underselling UW and the Pac-12 all year. Texas was favored last year as well (and UW beat them), but we'll all see on Jan 1.@@KaineLCampbell

I don’t think Texas secondary can keep up with Washington wr Oklahoma st had some wide open deep balls that the QB missed on cause he’s bad and the only way Alabama stayed in the game was because of deep balls so there secondary can be exposed so everything is dependent on how the trench game goes cause penix is not good under pressure now if they do a 2 shell high defensive scheme then Dillion Johnson is gonna have to find a way to run away from sweat or they have to double maybe triple team sweat and find penix some more time now defensively if they can’t stop the run Washington is toast but they held Bucky Irving in check in the pac 12 championship but it’s dangerous to just play man against Texas the first 3 series should tell us how the game will go

Texas hasn't played a gauntlet of great passing offenses. They'll see the best on Monday. Washington has had 5 games against top 10 passing offenses. Texas has had 1. They are going to be challenged. And Washington has been without McMillian healthy for all but 4 games. In his 4 healthy games he gained over 100 yards in each. I'm sure Texas is better too but again, aren't these basically the same teams facing each other as last year? Sweat only got one tackle last year!
