    For how long do I leave wires on my bonsai?

    • @h.b.1421
      @h.b.1421 3 года назад +1

      it depends on the plant and speed of growth. With acer or ficus for instance it may be only a few weeks at most before the wires bite into the bark. For conifers like junipers or pines it can take up to 2 sometimes even 3 years. You always need to keep an eye out if the wire starts to bite into the bark as you need to remove it then.
      If you have a fast growing tree you can use an open coil wiring by using a slightly thicker wire but not as usual right at the bark but a bit away from it. Peter Chan has shown examples of this in some of his videos. Good luck

    The first wiring I did to a plant I killed it. Because I twist & wrap the branches around the wire. This common newbie mistake crushed the cambium & turn the whole tree into a Jin.

      @StuartOliver83 3 года назад

      Hahahaaaaaa thanks for the tip mate sorry to laugh but the way you wrote that was hilarious

    • @angryzombie8088

      @@StuartOliver83 Thinking back its was really a dumb mistake, I would laugh too if I were you. Peter Chan is the only bonsai person that I found talking about this, but I found out too late.

    • @erebus53
      @erebus53 3 года назад

      Wire around the branch, not branch around the wire... unless you want the branch to be deliberately wiggly.
      And yup, the plant circulation happens right under the bark, so if you crush the bark or cut through it, the tree can't have any sap flow there.
