Tips for getting out of a reading slump ❤
- focusing on reading graphic novels and manga so you don't feel pressured to read big novels but you still feel like you're making progress
- reading the first chapter of every book on your tbr, when the goal is just to complete one chapter there's no pressure to finish but something might pique your interest along the way and motivate you to keep reading
- reorganising bookshelves always gets me excited to read for some reason
- unhauling books that have been sitting on the tbr for a looong time and you no longer feel excited to read, trimming my tbr always makes me feel a bit better because it makes eveeything feel a bit fresher and really makes me focus in on the books I still feel excited about
Hope you're out of your slump soon! ❤
I’ve already done all of these 🥲🥲 thank you for the help though! I’m sure the comments will also appreciate it! 🖤
AHHHH! Omg Veronica Speedwell is my heart and soul. I will shove it down any one’s throat. No chaser. So happy to have forced you to pick this up, haha
Hahahaha honored to have had it forced upon me by you! 🥰
The Black Girl Survives in this One sounds so good and the cover is stunning! I hope you break your reading slump soon.
Thank you!! 🖤🥰
Hang in there!
I am a mood reader. Trying to not consistently stick with one selection so it's easier to get through my books.
That’s what I do too, it’s hard when nothing is appealing! 😭
Yes purple goes great with horror
I'd be intrigued to hear your thoughts on Bear & the Nightingale, tho it definitely is historical Russian with fantasy tied in. The author bases a lot of events on Russian history. Honey Witch was cute, v spring witchy feels! How to Solve Your Own Murder was on the sillier side for me, but still enjoyable!
I also loved Moon of the Crusted Snow and am looking forward to Moon of the Turning leaves! So different and well-written!
Agreed!! I was shocked by how much I fell in love with it!
i usually read comics and/or manga when i'm in a reading slump. hope you get out of it soon!
I’ve already tried that unfortunately and it hasn’t been working! 😭
I truly hope you will get out of your slump soon, those are just the worst!
I have spent part of my afternoon totally engrossed in "In the Tall World" by Angel van Atta. It's the sequel to "In the Tall Trees", which was one of my favorite reads last years. Both books are short, very quick reads, and they are truly special. They are told from a child's perspective, and young Mella is a fascinating character to follow. They are nothing like the books you talk about here, but maybe going for something different will be a slump-killer! :) Take care!
Thank you my friend! 🖤 I’ll have to add that one to my list!
I relate to your May....I bought A LOT of stuff this month too haha.
Mystery's are really fun, I need to read more.
Ooooh I've wanted to get to Moon of the Crusted Snow for a while now, did not know there was a sequel!
There are so many cool sounding books here. 'Black Girl Survives in this one' is definitely going on my list, I really love short story collections.
Ooooh good to know about 'Everyone in my Family has Killed Someone' I found it a bit ago in a little free library, excited to get into it!
Hahaha we all caught the shopping bug in May I guess! 😂
I love mysteries, they’re a nice palate cleanser!
I hope you enjoy Moon of the Crusted Snow, it was pleasant surprise for me.
The Honey Witch sounds so interesting! ooh I haven't heard of the narrow by kate alice marshall, but I loveee her writing!
I hope they’re both good! I’m looking forward to them both!
Great haul 📚🧋👻💀🦇
I am currently reading TIny Threads right now and it is really good so far! And OMG Sarah Rose Etter's Ripe was a panic attack on speed. It stressed me out!
I’m so intrigued by Ripe, I might bump it up my tbr then!
I read Drowning Woman last month. It was fine. Gave it a 3.
The Narrow was another 3 star for me.
Hopefully I like them more than a 3 😅
Love your channel❤
I loved When No One is Watching. If the new Alyssa Cole is even half as good, I'll be happy lol
I agree wholeheartedly!!
Oh my gosh I love your shirt!
Thank you so much! I got it from Etsy! 🥰
Aw reading slumps sucks I hope it goes away soon 💜
The bear and the nightingale is a trilogy.
Im not sure if youre gonna like it, but cant wait to hear your opinion, and see your reaction.
I hope I love it then! It’ll be interesting to try it out.
vietnamese is a monosyllabic language so you'd pronounce nguyen like the word "win" 😊
I actually looked into it for so long and got a lot of mixed responses on that! A lot of people were saying “win” wasn’t actually correct, but “new-win” was kinda close. It was very confusing haha
Hey
You mentioned that you have read a couple of books about OCD and I have been looking for some recommendations , if they're worth reading please share their titles ☺
My absolute favorite one and the best I’ve seen is White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson. 🖤
I just finished Spitting Gold recently. It is not the type of book I usually read, but I gave it a try. I found it to be very slow in the middle. The middle drags to be honest. The beginning and ending are ok. I did really enjoy the feminist themes in this book. I gave it 3 stars. Good, but not great.
Oooh, very good to know! Thanks for the heads up. ☺️
I feel you on the slump! I have been in a reading slump for the last few months and I don’t know why 🫠
Ugh so sorry you also know the feeling! Hopefully it passes soon. 🤞🏼
