The secret to maintenance is to continue to follow what you did in weight loss. So, it’s important to make how you lose weight sustainable. I’m going on three years after losing 50 pounds. We just can’t go back to our old ways and think we won’t gain the weight back. 😍 Best wishes to all!
I agree with you. I often say that if I didn't maintain my diet and lifestyle I have always said I would of gained all and more of my weight back. I to think it's a mind set, if I want something sweet. I make my goodies to eat, instead of store bought goodies. I to have smaller sizes than store bought goodies. I to individually wrap each muffin, cake slice with foil and put them into the freezer. I feel like I have more options if I have to take something out of the freezer, like do I really want that slice of cake. I learned the freezer is my friend lol.

KenDBerryMD (he is a family physician) has a video he just put out called "7 Reasons Diets ALWAYS Fail & What to do Now (PHD)" (if anyone is interested in watching it). His description says: "How many diets have failed to give you the health and body weight you want and deserve? All diets fail if they are based on any one of the 7 defects I talk about in this video." One thing I like about Dr. Berry is that he's not out to sell people a bunch of products like so many in the health field are. Only posted this because I hope it can help someone, but if it's not allowed I'll understand.
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom Yes I think that he personally does do the carnivore diet. His wife eats a few vegetables too though (if I remember correctly). I haven't watched her channel as much though, so not real sure.
Great job, Dawn. I love the multi-tasking goal. I’m really bad about trying to watch RUclips videos while editing my own videos. I need to stop doing that.
I've been really looking at our grocery spending and doing more mindful spending. What's really helped me is looking at what I have before buying more and seeing how I can incorporate that into meals. It's definitely helped cut down on waste.
I love your honesty and your weight loss journey, it helps to know where not alone in this journey. I to have been putting the mindful shopping in place when at the grocery store. The one thing with mindful shopping that has changed for the better for me is I no longer buy canned soups. I now make my own, what a game changed this has been for me. I love home made soups it's healthier. I can control how much salt and oils that go into my soups. I to am learning that home made soups are healthier and more filling that I in the moment have been mindful about portion sizes. Thank you for the great video.
I wish I had some easy, good tasting soups that I could make in my crockpot. Right now I'm suffering from a recurrence of mono or worse (doctors are still testing), and I have so little energy. I crave all the good vegetable soups that I buy at the store, as long as they don't have meat in them. You sound like a great cook!
Congratulations on meeting some of your goals so far this year! Keep it up :-) As for weight, it's a daily struggle. A year ago I injured my foot mildly, and it slowed me down. Took two months to heal, and I gained some weight. Then I spent all summer swimming, walking, and eating healthy trying to get that weight back off and get strong again. I was successful, but by October I had a car accident and then covid. I gained 7 lb back by January 1st. Chronic pain, stress, sleeplessness, medicating with food, and lack of exercise can quickly lead to significant weight gain. I've decided to make getting back in shape my top priority for myself. One of the reasons is because I was on the verge of needing the larger size clothing and didn't want to buy all new things. So I'm relieved to say that I got out my spring and summer clothing and everything fit. It felt so hard to do to get that 7 lbs back off, but now that it's done three months later, I'm feeling super motivated. Ironically, I'm the size and the weight I was a year ago but not without a lot of pain, heartache and focus on healthy eating with lots of prayer and saying no to the sweet tooth. I still have a long way to go and want to lose a lot more, but something is better than nothing.
@@3TXSisters thank you! I'm not too disciplined when it comes to sweets either so I have to have substitutes. I buy the Aldi sugar-free pudding mixes, dark chocolate and sugar-free chocolate, sugar-free mints, sugar-free gum, keto bars, and diet soda. Whenever my family is having a dessert, I reach for one of these. It's been working.
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom well I'm a lot better off than I was five months ago, but I still am in chronic pain unfortunately. My neck and shoulders are healed now for the most part so that's a relief. I'm getting stronger and I'm gaining muscle tone back so that's encouraging. Also know the more weight I lose, the better I will feel, so that keeps me eating healthy. If you think of me, please pray for my hips, sometimes they ache so badly, I don't want to walk.
You’re always incredibly encouraging to all of us, so I’m really glad to hear you’re using that personal strength to meet your own goals in regards to your health, focus, spending, etc.! It’s so inspiring, and you should be so proud of yourself- we are all cheering you on!! 🥳 You’re a beautiful individual and I thank you for another great video/conversation!! 🤗 I’ve also recently noticed that I am taking longer to do things if I have a podcast or RUclips video playing in the background! I definitely agree that it’s much better to plan a set amount of time for individual activities in order to have full focus, momentum, and mindfulness during each of them! 👍🏼 One other thing I’ve been working on is becoming more of a morning person! I just graduated last month, but while I was a college student, I got into the habit of getting to bed quite late. Now that I’m job searching, I need to reset my internal clock by going to bed at a consistent, earlier time so that I can wake up and be productive earlier in the morning. ⏰ As far as weight/health goes, a month or so ago I felt like I put on some weight, so I weighed myself and found that I had gained about 10 pounds! I considered what I could have been doing differently and realized that I had been purchasing a lot of pre-packaged snacks (cookies, crackers, pretzels, granola, etc.). I also got lazy about tracking my meals and nutrient intakes with MyFitnessPal, which is something I’ve always used to maintain my weight and motivate myself to exercise. So those two changes were the cause of the 10 lbs. I had gained! I cut out the processed snacks- I went back to making my own healthy snacks in bulk from scratch and freezing them when possible (things like homemade protein bars), and I also went back to choosing other easy-to-make healthy snacks made up of fresh vegetables/fruit, nuts, etc. And I went back to tracking all of my food, nutrients, and exercise again with MyFitnessPal. At this point I’ve dropped 4 out of the 10 lbs. (pretty much 1 lb. per week), and I feel really good that I’m back on track! 💪🏼 Like you said- if you get off track in any area of life, just start back at the basics and take it one step at a time! 😊
Dawn- great video! I love the idea of starting with one small goal and just focusing on that. Wow! That is so simple but could be so impactful!! I’m going to try this to in a few areas. Blessings and love! Thank you for bringing us such encouraging/informative information each day! Love you 💕
I have found that ONE person in a family going on a healthy eating lifestyle and the other members in the family do not share that and yet you have to cook what THEY want does not work. My husband did not want to eat as I did and finally when he had multiple health problems I had him try my way. My husband and I both eat the same food, no junk food or bad snacks allowed in the house. He was on Pills for diabetes for several years but recently was taken off those and controls it simply by eating healthy and I have lost the 15 lbs I wanted to lose. I make sure we have portion control meals that have foods that go together. For instance if I have a carb portion, such as potatoes, then have a low carb vegetable such as broccoli and no high carb vegetable with it such as peas, lima beans or corn. I plan my meals two weeks in advance according to what was on sale, what I need to use from pantry and fridge and what will be left over from the previous day. Makes it easier to stay on budget and not have to think what I will be cooking that day. I have a large notebook just for meals and store needs with sale items. I wish you luck on your weight loss, it affects our quality of life, especially in our senior years.
Great video you are doing great and look great it aint easy I went to an event great food but carbs I did eat but not much at all which normally I would eat but put my brakes on and was happy with myself for keeping on track
“Rebellious by nature.” 🤣🤣🤣 Oh yeah. That one gets us in trouble! The “one small thing” for weight loss success is decreasing carbs as much as one possibly can. Start with keeping carbs under 100 grams a day. That is an eye opener to let one know where the problem is. My husband’s doctor almost always tells him to cut back on bread, sugar, and fried foods. But never offers any guidelines. I don’t think medical doctors are trained much in nutrition. There are Type 1 diabetics in my family who have to keep track of carbs to maintain good blood glucose levels. The more carbs one consumes, the more insulin is required to keep blood sugars level. This is becoming more and more apparent with the continuous read monitors. Is a viscous cycle.
Well, my approach to grocery shopping is a little different. With emergency food preps and supplies in place, enough to last for a very long time. I now shop only for foods that are organic, non-GMO plant-based, high fibre, low protein. I am limiting my toxic load in other ways too, by eliminating chemicals and using natural cleaning products such as borax, soda, lemon, etc. And, using toothpaste without fluoride, and deodorant without chemicals, same for other toiletries, haven't used make-up for a long time. Did you know that coffee is loaded with pesticides? I bought organic coffee beans from Grocery Outlet yesterday, at very low cost and stocked up with five bags of it. With a limited amount to spend on food each month, I spend the entire amount, no more and no less. No processed foods, and hardly any sugar or carbs in the form of grains. I buy only foods that are of high nutritional value except for a couple of treats my daughter & Co. enjoy when they visit, or we go on our Days Out. That's it, no more shopping for the entire month, except for salad items, until I have grown it at home. I have easiily and quickly lost 30lbs, by fasting. To tell the truth, it was the easiest way to lose weight, I cannot believe I've never done it before! Dr. Jason Fung and Dr Valter Longo on RUclips have wonderful suggestions. Portion control has never worked for me. Fasting means, I just don't think about food, and instead concentrate on drinking lots of water from my Berkey water filter, or flavoured water, teas and sipping soup sometimes. I exercise daily, and on the days when I am not doing a 72hr fast for Autophagy, I am eating highly nutritious foods in small amounts, so as not to undo the good I just did. Being retired, I do not dress to go to work anymore, but I still get up early, shower and make it a point to look my best to boost my mood, and be ready for whatever adventures the day brings. While my main motivation is to prevent the recurrence of cancer by reducing my co-mobities, I am feeling so much better, just by making these minor changes by fasting and tweaking diet. I would highly suggest considering the benefits of fasting, even if you are only able and willing to do it by limiting when and how much you eat in a day. For me, the benefits of longer fasts are well worth it and surprisingly easy and simple to do; plus I have the advantage of living alone, so do not have to cook for a family. I find that after fasting my appetite has lessened and my interest in food has subsided, as though by magic. Who would have thought? Duh! Give it a try! I'm taking my health very seriously, and doing all I can to live a long and happy life! As usual, another great topic Dawn!
I watch frugal channels and people who inspire me to lose weight, I am sometimes good at the frugal part, but for me during menopause I can't just do what some are doing, it becomes a rabbit hole to find what works for me. Depending what stage of weight lose they are at also.
Thank you so much for sharing your goals as well as your weight loss. You're doing great. By the way, you look terrific in that outfit. I'm doing okay on my goals. I've lost 10 pounds since I started my weight loss journey in February. I'm doing so much better not shopping for unnecessary items. I'm going to bed earlier but still can't get to sleep any earlier. Maybe it will happen. You're so encouraging, I appreciate you so much. Blessings, Linda 💕
You can do it! I am on the weight loss journey too. I cut out 90 percent of processed foods. I also am intermittent fasting and only eating between 10 am and 6 pm. I am down 11 pounds in just under three weeks.
For me it’s best if I weigh every day. That way if I start gaining I can get a grip on it quick. Their is a channel 50PlusBeauty and she weighs every day. She is very slim. Nothing like me. I keep around 1 to 2 pounds the same weight and trying to lose more. I wish you much success!
I have been watching you from almost beginning of your channel, remember when you were down to 167lbs. You might not remember, but I advised you to weigh yourself daily, otherwise you will keep yo-yoing. I have been observing you for a while and can certainly say that it is the only way you can control your weight. Weight for you is like money budget: if you would only guess how much you spent for the entire month, you would for sure overspend. Keep your eyes on scale! You see it is going up, you cut your portions or skip a meal. I also have family of 3 adults, but the amount of food you buy should be more than enough for 6 adults. Eat less and weight yourself. Honest to God, I do not intend to offend you but this is my sincere advice. We are about the same age, I feel you. God bless you!
I am really enjoying your videos and down to earth approach to things. Would you mind telling us your height? A lot of your content definitely applies to me. It helps to know I am not alone out here. Setting some goals for myself for this month, starting with not eating in the evenings. Keep making videos, I'm taking notes. :-) i'm thinking I will set some small goals(one each)-for work, for home, for health, for mental, for spiritual.
When people lose weight fast their body screams at them to eat to regain it. According to the science as I understand it. Back to basics is best. Drink water, don’t snack after dinner, these really are 2 of the most important things. You don’t want to have to be on a weight loss diet your whole life, that’s not healthy, mentally. Building Habits you don’t then have to think about much is healthy. I relate to being bored and turning a 35 min task into a 3 hour one so much. And I also think the community board thing to engage with is important for motivation. Otherwise it’s so so boring
Been losing a few pounds over the last year, my lowest weight was 104.0, I think I was 110.0 or so last year. That's my dry weight, I hope to break 100.0 this year, I have got out of dialysis & had to hold my pants up, need to put another notch in my belt. Maybe get into my size 35 inch pants I never got rid of someday. I now weigh down enough to get a new kidney, I think my goal weight 232 pounds, which is close.
Dawn, be careful when you focus on grocery "value shopping" because potatoes, rice, breads and pasta are all carbohydrates. They're cheap but they will add weight. Also, if you need to snack at night, then have a few spoonfuls of salsa. Salsa out of the jar has 10 calories and will set your mouth on fire.

I am trying to get to at least 170 I have problems with sacking in the evening and I'm trying to save money for a big screen tv
That is the best hint and you put it out just for me (ha-ha), that snacking at night is my downfall as well!
Right?!
I could be you. Thank you for the insight, sharing, and helping me want to push the restart button.
You are so welcome!
Great job, Dawn. I love the multi-tasking goal. I’m really bad about trying to watch RUclips videos while editing my own videos. I need to stop doing that.
I so understand
I've been really looking at our grocery spending and doing more mindful spending. What's really helped me is looking at what I have before buying more and seeing how I can incorporate that into meals. It's definitely helped cut down on waste.
Is it really helps
You are doing great on your food budget too
I love your honesty and your weight loss journey, it helps to know where not alone in this journey.
Thank you Dawn
I hope you are feeling better now
Good for you! I wish I had your self control. I'm not disciplined when it comes to sweets. I'm trying so that's something. 😊
I’ve also recently noticed that I am taking longer to do things if I have a podcast or RUclips video playing in the background! I definitely agree that it’s much better to plan a set amount of time for individual activities in order to have full focus, momentum, and mindfulness during each of them! 👍🏼
One other thing I’ve been working on is becoming more of a morning person! I just graduated last month, but while I was a college student, I got into the habit of getting to bed quite late. Now that I’m job searching, I need to reset my internal clock by going to bed at a consistent, earlier time so that I can wake up and be productive earlier in the morning. ⏰
As far as weight/health goes, a month or so ago I felt like I put on some weight, so I weighed myself and found that I had gained about 10 pounds! 💪🏼
Like you said- if you get off track in any area of life, just start back at the basics and take it one step at a time! 😊
Dawn, love your videos ❣
You are so honest and brave! Good luck!
Thank you so much!
Dawn- great video! I love the idea of starting with one small goal and just focusing on that. Wow! That is so simple but could be so impactful!!
I’m going to try this to in a few areas.
Blessings and love! Thank you for bringing us such encouraging/informative information each day! Love you 💕
Thank you so much for your kindness
I'm getting work done on the outside of the house. Feels so good, especially with warmer weather coming.
Sounds great!
You and your husband are doing fantastic
Great video you are doing great and look great it aint easy I went to an event great food but carbs I did eat but not much at all which normally I would eat but put my brakes on and was happy with myself for keeping on track
“Rebellious by nature.” 🤣🤣🤣
Oh yeah.
I can not wait for you to see an upcoming video
Wow you are an amazing person and so inspiring. Thank you
Thank you so much
Do whatever you want. There is no weight police. Nobody would care how much you weight or spend. Do what you like.❤🇨🇦
Love this. I’m on the weight loss journey too. My goals are going pretty good. My only drawback is time. I stay so busy.
I understand
Thank you for sharing your journey
I'm so happy for you thank you for sharing what you're doing
Enjoy your videos. Congrats on your weight loss. I'm doing well and stable. Into gardening and prepping right now.
I’m trying to stop eating at night. It’s so hard. 😥
Hi Dawn my weight right now is 196.4 I want to loose at least 50 pounds. I am going to start today.
Hurrah
You can do it! I am on the weight loss journey too. I cut out 90 percent of processed foods. I also am intermittent fasting and only eating between 10 am and 6 pm. I am down 11 pounds in just under three weeks.
Ingratulations on the weight loss
My problem isn't snacking at night, it's snacking when i'm on the computer. i'm on the computer morning, noon, and night.
I love snacking on popcorn
For me it’s best if I weigh every day. That way if I start gaining I can get a grip on it quick. Their is a channel 50PlusBeauty and she weighs every day. She is very slim. Nothing like me. I keep around 1 to 2 pounds the same weight and trying to lose more. I wish you much success!
The more water you drink the less you eat.
I joined a gym this month
Fantastic
👍
I never got to 167. I got to 185.
a size 14 is now too big for me.
a 30 waist is big
You can wear Caroline's clothes. She wears a 2
I am really enjoying your videos and down to earth approach to things.
Sure I'm 5' 4
When people lose weight fast their body screams at them to eat to regain it. According to the science as I understand it. Back to basics is best. Drink water, don’t snack after dinner, these really are 2 of the most important things. You don’t want to have to be on a weight loss diet your whole life, that’s not healthy, mentally. Building Habits you don’t then have to think about much is healthy.
I relate to being bored and turning a 35 min task into a 3 hour one so much. And I also think the community board thing to engage with is important for motivation. Otherwise it’s so so boring
Your comment is so very helpful in a great reminder thank you
Been losing a few pounds over the last year, my lowest weight was 104.0, I think I was 110.0 or so last year.
We have not planted any plants directly on the ground trying to manifest moving and taking our plants with us. We have lower our debt by half except for the vehicle payment.
I have not been studying. I need to make time for that.
way to go
You've accomplished a lot! Taking care of a family doesn't allow much time to study. Will you be able to have a garden at your new house? Take care, Linda 🦋
@@3TXSisters Yes, but that Dream house is not going to manifest if I don't get done with the studying 😅 🙃 😫 😑. Every one says there are different ways of manifesting things. I am also declutering so I don't take extra stuff, yet I don't have a cent saved. 😅 I just acting as if by magic. 🎉💫🌬
