I feel compelled to create an "Appeal to Heathens" flag, like Festivus (for the rest of us), but political.
How are these churches that promote a political agenda/candidates allowed to retain their tax exempt status? The rule as I understand it is that cannot happen for them to be allowed to not pay taxes on all that money "raised" or "donated" or whatever. Please address this sometime.

In my experience, the backlash against Pres Jimmy Carter came from the (mostly Protestant at the time, but joined later by reactionary Catholics) white Christians who rebelled against his order to desegregate their educational institutions or lose federal funds. The result was , for example, Jerry Falwell’s Liberty University, and backlash institutions like the Moral Majority.
Twice married Ronald Reagan became more popular to the emerging Evangelical movement than a real (and monogamous) Baptist Christian Jimmy Carter.
By the way, the Catholic Church had long been running their own religious schools, and today the conservative graduates of Georgetown, Loyola, and other Catholic law schools dominate the courts.

I've wondered the same thing about a Republican vision of the future? Where no one pays taxes, or has health care or has nothing to fall back on when they get old and sick and lose what property they have to pay bills. Do we just die in the street? The Catholic church have poor and sick people die on their doorsteps all the time, yet, the Christian Nationalist want all of us to turn to the churches for food, shelter, education to endoctrate everyone's children so they can rule the country and domininism is to take over the world.
Is there no way to charge those with a connection to the Heritage Foundation with a Conspiracy to deprive a person or persons of constitutional rights, especially the ones who have been open about using religious definitions to make their rulings?

Every Christian should be worried about this. We now have six out of nine Catholic judges, making judgments on all of us. Most wars have been started between different Christian religions.
I just read the "Watchman Decree" and found myself mentioned on their enemy list, in the term, "the occult." I am a witch, occultist, and occult author. What I read there explains some things that have been happening for a while in terms of censorship and in attacks on online metaphysical businesses from payment processors. Of course, our entire community is full of LGBT people, as well. I am alarmed. I encourage everyone to read the document, which is online.
I don't think Alito et al care about abortion, per se, but rather male supremacy, and forced birth and contraception bans are but a couple of ways to help maintain that.

You may remember that when Trump was asked in an interview to name his favorite book in the bible, he said "Two Corinthians." Check out the bottom paragraph, the final statement, in the "Watchman Decree." which references a statement from that book.

37:00 I dont know, i dont take it as settled law that a flag is somehow more compelling than a tshirt. Flags are tied to their location, literally, while a tshirt is portable andvcan be worn out. People mourn their friends on tshirts, not flags. A justice wearing a certain tshirt could call their impartiality into question just as significantly as hoisting a flag. Also, a tshirt is not a coffee mug. In the future it could be flag => tshirt => profile pic
The best symptomology to apply to the extremism which is the topic of this podcast is that the Republican project for preservation of minority political rule has always intentionally targeted and antagonized the anxieties of many people who are more or less "normal" but also are vulnerable to bad-faith exploitation of their feelings of fear and anger. It is purely intentional emotional abuse and it is despicable.
In Right and Reason, a book by a Catholic priest (Fr. Austin Fagothey), ethics teaches us that those with the greatest rights have the greatest associated responsibilities which implies that those with the greatest responsibilities should have the greatest associated rights. It begs the question, is it ethical (even to the Catholic Church) to give the responsibility of childbearing with no associated rights other than what a non-pregnant person also gets? They are acting unethically.
Local rural PA schools now have Bible study classes during school hours for any children who want to attend. I doubt ours is the only school system doing this.
homeschooling should be illegal. children are not the property of their parents. children have rights and one of those is is a modern professionally administered education.
white christian nationalism is a fascist movement. it ticks all the boxes. i’d love to see a discussion between these experts with historians of fascism.
