This is the first year I've had rat's stealing my chicken feed. I've caught 5 in traps, but they're clever and it's been difficult to trap them. I'm gonna give that a try. Thanks!

So glad you got rain there, hope it continues for as long as it's beneficial. I kind of feel sorry for the little rodents you are killing, but then I think about how dirty and destructive they are - ugh! I don't like them at all! Hope it works for you. Take care, Poo
Elizabeth says, I had to chuckle at the cocoa powder! But hey, drastic problems need drastic solutions! I hope the rain took down the smoke. It's amazing how busy you keep. Keeps you young! In your garden, have you ever had grasshoppers? I've had some for the first time ever (several decades). The "ghastly beasts" get to 5 inches long feasting on my vegetable leaves. Have you got a solution to get rid of them that can help me ? God bless you.
Hi, did this method help? Im thinking about mixing it with crushed up chicken feed. They are already VERY comfortable with that 😡 please let me know if you would still recommend this. Ty ps what would you say works better, plaster or baking soda?
The plaster sets up when you add water. They are not going to eat plaster that has set up. It would be like eating gravel. You have to have a dry bait if using plaster.
@ I do have a suggestion. I ordered peanut butter essence from Amazon. I put it on my traps and within minutes I caught 2 mice. I haven’t checked them again but will first thing in the morning. I also added a drop or so to my baking soda mix. I’ll let you know if it brought visitors to my bait stations.
@@pinemeadowshobbyfarmafruga8319 I found it, thank you. how come no plaster? I saw people mix all together, baking soda/powder, plaster and sweets. I saw that pottery plaster might be better, could add Peanut Butter or sunflower butter

I've been told to use oat meal with plaster of paris for chipmunks?
That works too.
@@brendanelson7361 Chipmunks don't do damage nor carry diseases. Rats and mice do.

I have not yet had grasshoppers. If i do I will turn the ducks and chickens on them. As far as a treatment, I hear neem oil is effective.
Have you ever added a small amount of sugar to cocoa mix?

Right. Which is why I only use baking soda with Jiffy cornbread mix now.

True it's a never ending process to our yard too eating the dog food.
