It is because there are changes of melodies in some parts and I personally I didn't like! it's a lullaby it should be calming, they are swinging here and there!
This is a song that embodies spiritual and ancestral memories... one that is not indigenous to a the whiteman. I am an indigenous Ilongga land I find this extremely offensive. I also find it offensive that this is associated with nanny work ( by some of the comments). Haven't you taken enough form us?
Wilma Rivera the common line among young filipina nannies to put their charge to sleep when they/she herself is scared. The rendition just conveyed it so perfectly.
this is an ilonggo (hiligaynon) lullaby native to West Visayas, Philippines......reminiscing my childhood....Thank you for putting it in the world map of music....wonderful rendition
wow...a modern version of a Philippine lullaby...great a cappela...but the sincerity and sadness of the song gone...still bravo...and thank you! mabuhay!
This was my lullaby during my childhood days. I always get teary eyed everytime I hear this because I remember my aunt who always sing this for me when my mother is not around. "Ili Ili tulog tulog anay" lyrics was written in Hiligaynon dialect in the Philippines which also my mother-tongue spoken language. 😊😊😊 Thank you very much for sharing this beautiful song. ❤️❤️❤️
My lola always, humming this illi tulog anay, a Phil. Lullaby, my mom said: i started to hear this song when i was in her womb. Until high school, my lola always sing this song and humming. She passed away already. I missed my lola so much. 😭
I learned this song when I was in elementary, hearing this now brings back so much good memories❣ I'm a teenager and still appreciates songs like this, I hope everyone my age too.
OMG. tears welled down from my eyes uncontrollably remembering my mom's singing this lullaby. What angelic voices these group have. Thank you and thank you for sharing. You're the Best, GOD bless you ya'll. There's another beautiful song that's perfect for the voices of this group. It's called " Ang mga mata ni Angelita" a song from a radio drama series in Cebu. Melanie here from Hinigaran, Negros Occ. presently residing in North Carolina ,
Wow! I come from the province where we speak this Ilonggo dialect and where this beautiful song was originated. And my mother used to sing this sweet song for us whenever she wants to put us to sleep. And now that my mother is gone, this song really touches my heart so deeply, and thanks for sharing this video.
apparently, this song was sang on a horror movie here in the Philippines so it's kind of a creepy song for some of us 😅 some use this to scared people, like singing this on an empty hallway or when you're going to the bathroom alone. 😂 but you sang it beautifully 😍 love the rendition 🤍
Sheldon : can you song soft kitty to me please, Mary : i'm sorry shelly i can't sing that to you tonight coz you are not sick, how about i sing you a new song so you can sleep? Sheldon : ok mom, what is the title of the song? Mary : ili ili tulog anay Sheldon : i love you mom
This song is our native song from the province of Antique, Philippines. My late mother used to song it to me to lul me to sleep, when I was a kid of 5 ..The word iliili means swing or rock the baby.
That was a very ingenious twist at the latter part of the song modulating to a major key giving it a brighter and optimistic tone instead of the usual traditional ending in the minor. And the echoey reverb gives it a dream-like imagery which is in keeping with a lullabye, isn't it? I sooo love this version. Great job. Been a fan since the early 80s with Ward Swingle and the France based gen. Mabuhay po kayo and keep making that sweet vocal music.
When i was a kid i used to sing this lullaby whenever i put my little sisters to sleep. I was/am the eldest among the siblings. This is most especially done when you are swinging the baby in your arms or in a "duyan nga patadyong" - that's a sarong made into a hammock where you can put a baby in. Ili-ili is that swinging action. This is such a lovely rendention. Thank you.
I really loved this song. I remember my father always sing this song on me when I'm going to sleep. I'm proud that my local dialect folksong sang by this people. Love it!!!
ili-ili tulog anay. wala diri imo nanay kadto tinda bakal papay sush- sush sleep now baby your mother is not here she's in the market buying bread (I just edited it.. XD this comment has been so long I didn't realize my mistake in translation XD)
I remember when I was young ..grandma sang that song to me and after that ...she is telling the stories about how Japanese killed many children and their moms......as a filipino..im so very happy that my grandma is still with me.
This is the song my mother sings to me to scare me as a child to this day it still give me the creeps especially since ever since a child ive only heard this on the white lady movie
Great voices, but I hardly understood what they're singing. That's the problem when non-native speakers try to sing a song that the singers can't really speak. In songs, unsually the language barrier is diminished, but I still cannot discern many of the words, perhaps because of how they are sung - much different from the original Philippine lullaby?. Great music nonetheless because the voices are awesome.
I think their pronunciation is correct. This is in Hiligaynon, a dialect spoken in Iloilo. I'm a native speaker of this dialect and i can say they did a pretty good job.

Well Im also ilonggo and I for one am proud and happy that other people are enjoying our songs. Nothing is lost when these things are shared. Everyone just gains a better understanding and appreciation of other people and the world just becomes just a little more beautiful. Also I dont see anything wrong with people associating this song with people who cared for them. There is nothing wrong with being a nanny. Its honest and honorable work that a person can be proud of.
thnx 2 u tube, i had d very rare chance of watching foreigners singing philippine folk songs. it really made me so proud as a filipino realizing how much these foreigners love our songs.
my filipino nanny used to sing this to me when I was 8 lol,
bet she is from ILOILO..?
Yes but my mother had a samurai
If I won't sleep 🤣
Who on earth had the audacity to give this a thumbs down?!?
This world is full of foolish people; that's the only reason I can think of!
Haha...maybe a Pinoy.😊
Our Nanny, Nanay, Lola, Abuala, Grandma sing this to put us to sleep.
@@maayongaga729 Don't think so. On the contrary, it would be Pinoys who would appreciate this the most.

If Elsa from Frozen were a goddess that lives in the mountain by the lake, this would be her version of Let It Go.
this song is for someone who takes care of others child and treated like their own... because their mom is not there anymore.
The song says little child go to sleep now your mother is not here she went to the store to buy bread. That's what the song says.
Wilma Rivera the common line among young filipina nannies to put their charge to sleep when they/she herself is scared.
The rendition just conveyed it so perfectly.
This is a Filipino lullaby song my mother would sing for us. ☺

It’s not sad it’s mellow because Ilonggos are mellow people. Mellow but deadly 😉
Your rendition of this lullaby song gives me goosebumps.
So Beautiful.

it is a lullaby....Little one little one sleep now, your mother is not here

Hiligaynon is not a dialect but rather a language. It IS what “Ilonggo” language is really called. 😓
Oh shit ... Sound like she is 😢
