My suggestion for the town name is Constant-Sjin-ople. you know... since it's the Byzantines.
that's a pretty friggin great name. Love it
looking like the front runner so far!
That's a beautiful play on words, and it's even better since I doubt many people actually know what Istanbul used to be called.
This would be so cool, Sjinstanbul was once Constant-sjin-ople
@@stephentheperson713Haven't you heard?
🎶🎼 _"You can't go back to Con~Sjin~tinople..."_ 🎶
Having just binge watched the previous mine-colonies series, this is perfect timing! I can't wait to see how this style develops and what extra decorations you'll add through the series.
it might just be me. but i love the styleing of the greek homes how they are set on mountian sides. my fav house style is a classic Victorian.
the colony should just becalled "mahogany Doors"
Just a fun fact! Jacarandas are a Spanish and typically pronounced more like:
"Hah-ka-rahn-das"
While the English pronunciation is technically "jack-a-randa" typically it is pronounced with the Spanish pronunciation
I think you are brilliant. Keep it up ❤ ❤ ❤
WOW
my building style is Medieval Renaissance style building.
Colony name: The Three Peaks
there is a Furnace on a stick
Theres a 'Cavern' style that I really like, its basically "build your own Mines of Moria", heavy dwarf influence and its designed to be dug into/under a mountain.
I also turn off 'dont work in the rain' since it doesnt make sense for my dwarfs to care about the rain on the surface when they are several dozen y levels below ground...
dont tell the dwarf fortress dwarves about that (for the record the dwarf fortress community has a meme around how sad dwarves get when in the rain)
Sophisticated Backpacks has a smoker upgrade for cooking food on the go. There's also the furnace upgrade for more generic usage.
nice, I make a backpack next episode so I'll have to grab a smoker upgrade!
@@sjin another excellent backpack upgrade is the auto-feeder
@@sjini might be remembering but i believe there is a furnace on a stick as well
@@Minase636I'm sure he'll remember to eat...
@@metlhed7 I'm sure Sjin would NEVER die because he forgot to eat.
The Ars Nouveau style does an awesome job of melding the Minecolonies and a magic-mod into a smooth flow. One of my faves!
The fact the High Magic syle-pack has Ars Magica infrastructure already integrated into the colony is really useful if you plan on using and advancing through the pack, but it makes it *super* gold-intensive thanks to the fact you switch from using torches to the Ars Magica sconces. The fact that there are Source Jars, Sourcelinks, and Source Transporters mean that colony infrastructure does double duty rather than being something you have to build duplicates of if you want to use them. I'd be surprised if Ars Magica wasn't in ATM9, but the fact it's *also* in the Minecolonies Official pack shows how much the devs like it.
Yeah, RIP those horses. You need horses for a Byzantine colony; not specifically for any building but because they fit the aesthetic (e.g: decorate with horse-drawn carts). They're also handy to tour your colony when you don't have a jetpack.
Colony name suggestion: Sjinstanbul
this is a great idea
@@sjin Or Constansjinople?
My go to colony name is Steve
You know, I'm starting to think that Sjin enjoys Minecolonies.
This will be such a cool series plus just mainly focusing on Minecolonies and going all out on themeing and decorations could make one of or the coolest build/city Sjin has made!
yeah definately, I have a good grasp on the mod now, what's possible with it and the Byzantine style is going to look amazing!
I love Persian and west african style architecture. For persian architecture has lovely courtyards, beautiful arches and the wooden carefully carved balconies are gorgeous. For west African architecture, I love Akan and Bamileke architecture. The cool adobe structure of the Akan with the amazing art made into the walls and the cool white and red colouring. Bamileke architecture is such a feat of woodworking and it's honestly amazing the way they work on the landscape to have a perfectly cool(temp) home
Everyone saying Con-sjin-ople but no one saying I-Sjin-bul is a crime.
I haven’t watched a Sjin video in about a decade and when he pulled out his map and it had been filled out just vaguely phallic I was expecting him to make a goofy remark 😢 but he’s matured in that decade
Hey Sjin for your information its pronounced (Biz-a-teen) Byzantine. Like the ancient empire that was once a powerhouse. My style favorite would be between medieval Germany and Britain. 😊
ah, you’ve gone and made the classic American mistake of trying to correct how the British pronounce things.
@@vrrrrrr-uwu lol
You should have kept ulti mine also add Eureka ships mod so you can make your starter ship actually sailable
Certainly a welcome surprise. I think it's a great idea to let minecolonys shine a little more. Very excited to see this series grow
Neoclassical and baroque revival architecture are some of my facourites styles. And i might be a little bit biased, but i also really love some nice german half timbered houses.
‘Where are you getting raw mutton from anyway?’
Probably a butchers, mate. 😉
Definitely love Gothic architecture, Cologne Cathedral, Burgos Cathedral and Leuven Town Hall are amazing examples!
this just popped into my recommended, so cool to see sjin is still making videos. Still remember the dirt factory days!
"Is it MY-ranium?" Sjin asks sheepishly. Love that joke. 😂
As far as names go, it could be called Three Brothers Village, instead of three mountain colony.
8:07 I still to this day randomly say "See if you can find a boat" and laugh lol.
Ranch/Plantation/Colonial Southern USA style is my favorite, horrible time in history but beautiful buildings, and they typically are placed such that they emphasize sprawling out and having privacy and space. Love it.
Lovely time in history
Byzantine is such a beautiful style. Huge sprawling buildings that make less work for you overall since upgrading the little houses take nothing but a bed and a torch in general. I'm so excited to watch this since I only got to play with the style a bit myself!
God please don’t give up on atm, I know the views are dropping but I hate it when series don’t get followed through, far too many series just end with no explanation or anything. Like a good 2 season show on Netflix, painful!
Maybe its just because im a weeb, but traditional japanese style is definitely one of my favorites, their use of curves is so elegant c:
Agreed, though to actually live in, modern Japanese would be a nice style pack to have in Minecolonies.
My first MC play-through was 'Pagoda', and it might be time to try it again.
Edo-era architecture is my absolute favorite. But their modern architecture still relies on a lot of traditional methods that have been modernized. If you ever get the time I highly suggest watching a video on how a foundation and frame is laid out on a new house.
@@g45h96 I think I've seen some general Japanese carpentry videos, one of which involved the foundations, but I could probably search for some more, it's a real interesting topic.
Thank you for still being around Sjin, I have loved your content for years and you are one of the only people who I know that have any taste in buildings looking good in anything. I hope to one day shake your hand.
My favorite buildings are Victorian and art deco buildings.
I vote for Sjinopolis as a colony name.
The timelapse with the rain actually looks really cool!
I've always loved the Gothic style of architecture, with its giant buttresses and huge cathedral type buildings. It's really exciting to see this Byzantine type colony, can't wait to see it all set up with the more advanced buildings!
I love the Black-Houses of the Western Isles, I think they're an evolution of the earlier, wooden long houses of the Yee-Ha-long-beard-axe-boys.
4:22 I have a lot of favorites, mostly 19th-century European architecture, but my most favorite has got to be French Provincial architecture :D
A beautiful city of Tetten, the place with amazing mountains~
A suggestion for the colony name.
ByzanSjin Valley
love it!
My Build Style is Medieval / Gothic. Mainly because I did Medieval to Pirate Age Historical re-acting & My Minecraft Person name is KnightPirate. Sophisticated Backpack also has a Furnace / Upgraded Furnace and a stone cutter Add-ons. You should make a Dank and upgrade it fast to help getting the Building Supplies for you Mine Colony.
Name for the colony :] = Daltarios! I hope you liked
Can’t tell ya how much I’ve missed watching you Mann glad your still going you’ll always Be one of my OG Favourites from the Yogs You and Sips made my day everytime I watched you guys keep up the amazing work I hope you are doing well
I was scared you'd given up in the other play through. :)
Oh and I'm all about Art Deco. LOL
There is already a furnace on a stick mod. Just not in this modpack. :P I prefer modern and medieval buildings myself. You could at least use Create to help your colonists make stuff.
Old Norse & Celtic style architecture is lovely and epic. Steep roofs, arcing woodwork, and decorated with nature.
I'm pretty partial to Mediterranean, i love those hilly towns right on the sea. Italy and South France. Ughh I wish I found this before I did my workout, this would've made the first 40min on the Treadmill pass easily. Also, I love how the builder's hut has a built in alley way. I just get tickled pink by really tight corner cities with winding streets and buildings arching over pathways that you walk under.
Yeah, I think I'll very much enjoy the standalone minecolonies series. Reminds me of those old mods I used to play like Tale of Kingdoms or Millenaire.
I like a mix of art deco and row-house/townhouse, for example New York City in the 1910's
i’d say that the Brutalist architectural style is something i like a lot. That or Gothic.
The buildings in Amsterdam look pretty cool!
I loved touring castles in the UK and Germany. Quite different styles but both really cool.
The style of house I like is the one i can afford.
Which currently is a Tiny House, of which I have zero issue with. Bar the fact it is only legal to live in one, IF you already. Have a house of the property.. You can probably see the zero brain cell issue with that eh? Round of applause for moronic councils.
48 more videos of this series, till i can catch up to your newest Minecolonies series.. Lets go!
Ummm... A name for the new colony... How about the Vakshire Empire, Dunsjin Colonies, or Valknire
For building styles I like, I enjoy looking at really old Victorian style manors, and castles... And ancient ruins because I'm a bit of an odd duck
Happy to see another MineColonies playthrough Sjin! One thing I picked up while playing MineColonies is a mod called DoesPotatoTick? It allows you to whitelist MineColonies entities so that they keep functioning while out of render distance. Another thing to do is to go into the config files of MineColonies and to set ‘force load colonies’ to true. Hope this helps!
(Sorry for the double post, I realized that I put it on the wrong video.)
I actually find that south America hill slums are cozy. While yes its rather... sub par living the cheap neon signs and whirring of old fans. Light rain on aluminum roofing, looking out over the hill as the moon shines in the rain. Or modern houses in forested areas with twilight light shining through the fog of the trees, sitting by a window with a blanket and coffee and my sketch book. 😅
Roman's is my favourite type of build like the Colosseum like the content @Sjin
Name suggestion is Ithilian or Sjinthilian. Love the medieval fantasy type builds and this falls right into it.
I like the town name "Three peaks valley"
im a huge fan of the japans dojo kind of buildings. well a fan without really being knowledgeable about buildings.
I prefer doing the Life in a Village packs cause you get to do your mine colonies thing as well as have some other quests to pass the time as your builders work.
i don't have a single building style but if i had to list my favorites they would include the gothic of both medival and victorian varieties, nordic style you'd associate with vikings, renaissance cities like Nuremberg and Venice and lastly the artdeco designs of 1920's - 30s American cities
I think the byzantine colony should be named _Dunselphrenland_ or _'Phrenland_ for short
hey i’m super early to this one
There are so many good Colony styles. My favorite style is Gothic/Victorian. Dark, dreary, and a bit excessive.
I love gothic architecture, every gothic building I've seen always looks impressive.
Working hard to save for a pc to be able to enjoy modded minecraft again 😊
Hope all is well, truly such a pleasure coming home and seeing a new video! 😊
City name suggestion: Historia
Have a great evening 🥰
You should make this a part of a larger series where you build every style of building… I would love to see a nether series
I like Japanese style or whatever style the romans or greeks used in ancient times
my two faves are by far brutalist and art deco style buildings
Why's it gotta come out before I gotta go to work lmao. This is actually a great series idea! I've always wanted to see a colony grow massive
Art-Deco is the one architectural style to rule them all.
Japanese myself.
not sure a single type of building.
You'll be an excellent Eparch (Mayor)
I think you should call your city "τρία βουνά" - "tría vouná", which is the greek translation for "three mountains"
Since I'm studying ancient greek, I'm all in for Triorophylakeia (spoken: tree-or-o-foo-lak-i-a). Meaning: the Village of the guardians of the three mountains. Or for short "Threemountainguardia". Ancient greek ist fun.😂
Am I wrong in thinking that it's supposed to be pronounced Biz-An-Teen?? Am I wrong? Or is Sjin Trolling??
Cycladic architecture is one of my favorite types of architecture. It's, to my knowledge, exclusive to the Cyclades islands in Southern Greece. It gives me vibes of primitive human ingenuity mixed with an almost urban holy land. It's pueblo-esque with, and when it's shown at it's best, a very clean, tropical, cultured and homely/inviting vibe.
Of course Japanese Architecture is up there, both ancient and modern, but it's far too mainstream for my hipster self to pay it too much attention.
And as a huge Harry Potter fan, Dark Academia hits really hard for me. Very cozy. A busy, yet digestible aesthetic. The architecture is very reminiscent of Gothic European architecture but with more focus on school and academics rather than religion.
I astray VERY far from modern whenever possible. It's just so cold and bland to me. Extremely urban and populated large cities also push me away. My anxiety could never.
Will have to say I like a controversial mix of brutalist and Victorian European. Brutalism is beautiful for your more industrial buildings like forges and carpenters but Victorian is good for things like houses and warehouses and any sort of builder hut. Although in the minecolony mod I like to have a farm of every style to show that each farmer and their crops are different.
Church Building's. So much variety, but lots of quality or history.
If possible, a Hobbit Hole, a Tree House or tree overgrown home, or maybe a Castle in the European style.
honestly i have a soft spot for industrial, ironic because i need to be around nature at all times but oh well lol. i could list a whole load of others but yeah idk its the first one to come to mind for what's realistic to actually experience irl, of course there are a billion more beautiful styles but i hafta travel for those.(like who doesn't love roman imo) anyways, love the idea of this series to go sort of alongside the other, trying to balance out a modpack where one is extremely involved and long term with approximately a hundred others with their own goals would be hard to manage.
Personally I am a Spanish-style man, except when it comes to churches, then I favor the Gothic style.
Ive always loved houses in trees, like a whole village network in trees with bridges and perhaps some lift system. A literal mahogany village
I think the name of the town should be the name on the sign on the boat... Sjindria, its like Sindria kingdom from the magi series but its named after you :p
So my suggestions are: The Sjinzantine Empire or Sjinstantinople. Sjinstanbul could be good too.
I very much enjoy Victorian style houses. When I played minecraft awhile ago that is all I would build 😂
Give us this day, our daily bread
As someone from new York I'm in love with districts like China Town , little Italy , upper west and east side and so on I would love to see a little of everything and using create to travel between or to deliver supplies
My favorite style of building are American colonial style houses. Partially since they remind me of home in New England
I Love the English Victoria Style, (Like in Bridgerton Series).
I've asked so many people since I've studying Byzantine stuff. Is it Bye-zan-tine or Biz-en-teen?
Ive always said it with the en teen, but ive never studied it so-
It's bi·zuhn·teen.
Norse style is really nice >D, maybe you can introduce some kind of Varengian guard in there.
My favorite architecture styles are ancient Egyptian and Roman, respectively. Those 2 are my all-time faves.
My favorite building type is stempunk or really heavy industrial
so happy about another minecolonies series! I still have yet to finish the OG, so I have something to look forward to!
Plot twist: in this universe the Turks didn’t invade the Byzantine but instead on asia
