One thing you should know about ATEEZ, there is an incredibly deep, absolutely amazing story that runs through nearly all of their MVs. That's why you'll often see recurring characters or themes. I highly recommend you look into the lore and work through some of their early stuff in order. The story is crazy, but totally worth every second spent diving into it.

Bulnoriya is a shortened version bulkkotnori, which is the word for fireworks in Korean. ( 불놀이야 & 불꽃놀이) HALA HALA is an acronym for Hearts Awakened Live Alive, and they bring it back for HALAzia. Zia meaning the light. Because in this chapter of their story they have entered a dystopian world where the government has brainwashed emotions out of the people to make them easier to control. So they are saying to bring the light to awaken the hearts of the people so they can feel alive. It builds on the lyric of their previous song Cyberpunk which is,” I want to feel alive. Don’t want to stay in the dark.” Hope that helps.

Say My Name and Hala Hala are from the same cb, their first one, actually, and the first MVs that introduced their story. SMN lyrics and choreo lean heavily into their pirates x Peter Pan concept. We only found out much later how Ateez found themselves there but basically those guys in black are Ateez from a parallel dimension where emotions are banned and there's no art, and they pull our Ateez in to help start a revolution and wake mind controlled people up. Fireworks shows them in hiding and at the end one of the villains chasing them. Halazia is told from the point of view of someone living there who is calling for help and finally Ateez appear. That crazy location with escalators is an abandoned, flooded mall in Thailand. In Bouncy they've all been in hiding under different covers while preparing their mission and at the end they shoot the villain from the end scene of Fireworks.

If you want to watch a guide, there are a lot out there, but Ultimate Guide to Ateez is by far the best. All of their songs are part of an anime like storyline about Pirates that can travel through time and between dimensions. The guys in the black hats are the Ateez members from a different dimension, and the guys with no faces are the guys they’re fighting against. Each Ateez Album has a chapter name and and episode name and number. Please also watch their music videos for Wonderland, Guerrilla, Answer, Deja Vu, The Real, Don’t Stop, and Wave. They are ridiculously talented and hilarious and they have one of the coolest storylines for their mvs. Their concept are Pirates and in Hala Hala you met Halateez from Dimension Z. Ateez are from dimension A and Halateez need their help because in their dimension the government is oppressing the people and banned emotions. Halazia - The meaning of the title is unknown. However, “Hala” could have a connection to ATEEZ’s previous song, HALA HALA, which mean Hearts Awakened, Live Alive. Meanwhile, “Zia” has roots from Arabic, Hebrew, Italian and Latin. It means “splendor” or “light”. So the meaning could be something like Hearts awakened, live alive, be the light, as the phrase “be the light” is repeated throughout the song

First you have to know there is a alternate universe story line to their music, second video they were sitting across from their other selves and the one in the glass was captured, 3rd video bulnoriya means playing with fire or can be translated loosly to fireworks, halazia is the AU they are the kings of the anti-drop and it was filmed in Thailand I believe. so glad y'all are finally listening to ateez! they're an all rounder group & each member is very versatile. they can all sing, rap, dance, & ateez is mostly known for their STAGE PRESENCE! they really go all out on stage & it's been said when ateez are performing on korean music shows, all the other idols that are there will watch the monitor & watch ateez perform. ateez has A LOT of groups & idols that look to to them when asked who their favorite group or idol is & want to match up to ateez' level once it comes to stage presence. another thing is that ateez is known for their organic growth! basically, ateez started from a small unknown company (KQ entertainment) & worked their way up to make a name for themselves. they didn't have it easy compared to other groups in 4th gen kpop cause their company was so small & ateez had no company privileges (big3/4 privilege like HYBE, SM, JYP, YG), but now they're one of the biggest kpop groups in 4th gen. ateez is very well loved by senior & huge well known idols (PSY, kim jong kook, jessie, etc.) & have been told by PSY & kim jong kook themselves that "ateez are this generations leaders". ateez even earned the title "4th gen leaders" which means they're the leaders of 4th gen kpop due to their impact & influence & the title was given to them by the korean ministry of culture, sports, & tourism which is a huge deal. if you want to check out more ateez content, please watch a guide so y'all can get to know the members more. also watch their performances from immortal songs & kingdom to see what i mean by ateez having INSANE stage presence. all the ateez members are so funny, chaotic, nice, & most importantly humble. i hope to see y'all watch more stuff from them!! 🤍

You said it felt like a movie trailer and they literally have trailers for some of these that go deeper into their lore. Their storyline is so amazing and fun to follow even if you don't understand everything.
You mentioned doing a guide and with all these comments I'm sure it's been said but I hope you'll do the long 2023 guide by ofallthekennys. Even though it's long it goes super fast because it's such a fun and easy watch. Almost 3 years into the fandom and I never get tired of the guide.

"This is like a movie" Yes, yes it is because Ateez is literally telling a story through their music and videos and so much other content. I'll give a quick run down of some of Ateez storyline for you. So to start, there are 2 universes. There is universe A, where the Ateez we know are from and start as teenagers dealing with day to day life issues and come together to be friends, make music, dance and have fun. Then there is universe Z, where there is also the different universe versions of the guys, the black pirates in all black wearing the masks and fedora hats you just met in Hala Hala, they are called Halateez. They come from a universe where the government has taken control and brainwashed the entire population not to have any emotions anymore. Halateez broke free from the brainwashing and is trying to fight the government. But they don't think they can do it alone. Halateez finds a magical device called the chromer, which looks like an hourglass, that can make the user travel through dimensions. Halateez asks Ateez to join them in Universe Z to help fight the government.

-For starters... "8 makes 1 team" always. Thats their forever slogan. It doesnt matter if you only see one member or all 8...its always 8. (8 also means infinity to them). This is how youll always remember theres 8 members.
-AteeZ ...is pronounced like AY-TEASE (A to Z is their thing to make sure everyone in the world is included).
-FANDOM: Atiny: AY-TEE-KNEE (squish AteeZ and Destiny together because the fans are their Treasure..therefore its their destiny to find ways to connect with us for eternity. Their treasure hunt is their fans. We also get a say in their title tracks. This group is self composed/self produced because they come from a smaller company. The Captain of the group..Hongjoon is the main mastermind but i do know other members especially the other rapper Mingi they work on a lot of AteeZ material along with their company in-house producer/writer named Eden. This group they are all extremely talented individuals in many ways.
-EVERYTHING is connected, EVERYTHING is Pirate, Time and Space themed. Youll notice a few things that pops up a lot....ships, flags representing their ship and the group, birds/parrots, hourglass....hourglasses almost everywhere. Time and space is also involved in this adventure concept they have the journey gets wild. It can be a bit confusing for new fans so its best to watch their stuff in order. Theres a heavy storyline they follow down to the details.
-Hala Hala outfits....thats Dark AteeZ. Ya'll watched the videos backwards at first...Say My Name was our intro to Dark AteeZ/HalateeZ and Hala Hala was them introducing themselves. To this day...those outfits pop up from time to time...when yall see the black hat with the black outfits.....we all know they about to freaking POP OFF. But dont be fooled....regular pirate AteeZ music range from beautiful melodic soft songs to as hard as they can go. The duality between AteeZ and HalateeZ is insane! Youd think its 2 different groups sometimes especially with their live performances.. Woohhhh child...lol
-Their live performances are beyond TOP TIER. They are well known for their extremely iconic LIVE performances. For a taste of it...check out their KINGDOM performances along with award show performances...and even joint performances w/ Stray Kids (they have tons of material together because both groups are extremely good friends so they are super close...sometimes it feels like they are linked in a way its cute) and both fandoms eat it all up lol. So this is the rare occasion where theres no fandom war between the two..we are pretty united when they come together. The love is real. :)
Theres a lot more but its...a lot. Lol. You guys will have to take it bit by bit and the fans will lead the way. They have a lot of great content including a few reality shows. The shows are so much fun to watch. They are one of the most hilarious groups around...its the duality. On stage they are beasts but on a regular tuesday they are comedians and the softest babies ever. Lol..

The 2 bikers - Seonghwa (first person you see get on the bike - trap rapper), Yeosang (does the drift on the motorcycle)
The 2 policemen - Yunho (tall guy, sits on the right side of the parrot, seen wearing a bucket hat during the dance portions), Jongho (lead singer, the one with the super powerful voice, says “come on everybody” before the start of the very first chorus)
the 2 fighters - Wooyoung (wearing the button down shirt, dollar bill in his mouth, makes it rain on the downed fighter), San (wearing the tank top, does the roundhouse kick, is a 3rd degree black belt in taekwondo)
the 2 cowboys - Mingi (fight scene in the bar, spells his name out in his rap - SONG MINGI - lower voiced rapper), Hongjoong (ATEEZ leader, higher voiced rapper, shoots the sniper rifle at the end of the song)
The word in Fireworks you wondered about means “to let off fire” or “fireworks” in Korean. In the lyrics they say “we are letting off our..” then the word. So it’s “we are letting off our fireworks”. Also, your face at the end of that music video cracked me up 😂
ALL of ATEEZ’s music videos are connected. They are part of the groups storyline/lore. Those little snippets at the end are not only teasers for a future song release but also teasers for the continuation of the storyline.

The problem is, while the song are released according to their albums, the story told in the music videos isn’t in order. It takes a LOT of work to figure out the order you should watch the music videos to put the story in order. Like, for the videos you watched it would be “Say My Name”, “Hala Hala”, “Answer” (even though you didn’t watch this one), “Wonderland” (didn’t watch this one either), - a bunch of other MV’s go here -, then “Fireworks”, - a bunch more MV’s -, “Halazia”, “Paradigm”, “Guerilla”, “Bouncy”.
It’s so complicated lmao but the gist is (in Say My Name) they meet their doppelgängers from another world who come to ask them for help. ATEEZ are trying to figure who the hell these dudes are and where they came from. ATEEZ has captured one (guy in the box) to force answers out of the people who look like them. The people who look like them are literally like “your name is my name” (say my name, say my name). Visually represented at the start and throughout the video by the cuts of the members going from unmasked in regular clothing to masked and wearing all black.

They are one of the groups with the most consistent and deep storyline running through their entire discography, so you’ll see references to previous videos in future videos, the black outfits with the hats that you saw in Hala Hala, they appeared in the other videos too, there’s lore behind it. But basically, each member of Ateez has an alter ego with the black outfit, it’s a darker version of them I think, but I could be wrong. Generally they had a pirate theme (you’ve probably picked up on lyrics about them searching for treasure and their leader, the short rapper guy, is referred to as their captain). For their last 2 comebacks the story has shifted to a more rebellious storyline, they are fighting against an oppressive system (you can see this in both Guerrilla and Halazia) I think this is a transition into a new chapter in their story, you can see in Halazia the black outfit is burned on a cross, I think its a pivotal moment in their storyline and probably their discography too. By the way, they started as a dance crew so their dance practices or live performances should be entertaining!

Yep, same here. 😊 it was my first Ateez song and I was in utter disbelief throughout the video 😂 from the moment San clapped his hands together it's like he smacked my whole soul out of me and said "guess what I'm your bias, and will be your ult soon" 😅 which is true, him and Yeosang are my ult K-pop biases, and Ateez became my ult group and no one will ever knock them out of that spot. 😊 Ateez is just something special, they're in a different league, and sometimes I wonder if they're even human 😂😊
