I'm not joking when I say I could easily watch segments like this for HOURS. This is like How It's Made, but exclusively about cars. It tickles my brain nicely. :)
At 8:14 when he moves the vent around, it looks like there are wires and stuff showing. It took me a few seconds to realise that the piece was polished so well, it was reflecting parts of the work bench and machinery.
I've only sat in a Bently once but just sitting in it (not even moving) and the interior smells so rich. and white leather that came with it felt so so good.
I often think about how crazy expensive luxury cars are and then I watch videos like these where everything is done by hand and the attention to detail is meticulous and it makes me think how incredible it is that they are able to sell them for the price they are.
This is really wonderful work, the time and skill and the history behind the work these guys do is fantastic, what absolute craftsmen, working with such a beautiful medium.
JF, it is common courtesy to not fold your arms while interviewing people mate. Nevertheless, a wonderful video as always. Shows a good insight as to how these wonderful motors are made. Cheers.
gurvir44 Simply because american people have forgotten the basics of social communication and politness.. That's why they would burp in public, raise feet on tables, talk with the mouth full of food.. that's why they're "American" modern Cow Boys.. A Society with very little education and sens of respect and traditions.. (And I come from that society, so don't think I'm bashing strangers)
This is sexy as hell. The detail that does into a Bentley. Just wow. I don't think that I will ever have the privilege, but the amount of craftsmanship that they personally put into the cars is not seen anymore. Thus the cost.
Fugedibobo No, not Germans. They are good at organizing and also technical craftsmanship. But this kind of hand build stuff is different. As I said, only English and Italians. They have shown it for centuries and are best at it. And I'm not a bias English or Italian. Just recognizing and appreciating top quality when I see it.
bezor Ta since Bentley is essentially German now, I wonder how much of what you call English craftsmanship is in fact a process that came from abroad. Personally I would not say that Bentleys woodwork requires a higher level of craftsmanship simply because it is a repetitive task. To me, high level craft comes from making unique and custom items. Then again this is just my opinion, could be completely wrong.
James Franklin I think Shines7 may have meant using solid wood as the finished product instead of veneering it for aesthetics. That would be extremely expensive and difficult to do though.
14 "ok", 22 "got it" and 11 "yeah" plus arms crossed..... JF I respect you as a journalist but learn how to interview these professionals better. You're killing us man!!
I understand the hand made wood interiors, since it's such a visual skill. The hand stitched leather and engines assembled by hand are things I don't quite get. I've seen too many imperfections in these cars that are explained by "it's hand made so some imperfection is to be expected" Uneven stitching, panels coming unglued, gaps.. On a car worth hundreds of thousands of dollars I'd have a hard time accepting it. With an engine assembly I'd trust a machine far more than I'd trust a human. The machine will do things the exact same way every time. The plaque with the engine builders name on it is nice, but not if that person had a bad night and let a mistake slip by.
The people making these cars are not minimum wage plebeians, but highly skilled technicians. They also use machines to help them in the manufacturing process. www.reddit.com/r/cars/comments/4n833n/why_are_handbuilt_engines_better/
gmansplit "The people making these cars are not minimum wage plebeians" I guess the people doing the interiors are minimum wage plebeians to you then, since each car is different. I think a robot can be more precise than a human when it comes to repetitive tasks like engine assembly. I guess that engine builder's name on a plaque has some marketing appeal so they hang onto it.
It's a shame to think that in 20 years these cars will be worth 5000 American. You'll look around at the cracked leather that was hand selected, defect free and the faded wood dash that was shipped from all over the world, kept in a humidor before being veneered..
does not sound good that the wood is coming from south America I really wonder if they are responsible for deforestation or if they use sustainable forests...
I'm not joking when I say I could easily watch segments like this for HOURS. This is like How It's Made, but exclusively about cars. It tickles my brain nicely. :)
couldn't have said it better myself
It's called Ultimate Factories. They cover some of the top brands.
This is elegant television programming, something is very short supply.
Great video guys! Yeah imagine the smell in there! Should be divine!
At 8:14 when he moves the vent around, it looks like there are wires and stuff showing. It took me a few seconds to realise that the piece was polished so well, it was reflecting parts of the work bench and machinery.
These videos are making me respect Bentley more.
I've only sat in a Bently once but just sitting in it (not even moving) and the interior smells so rich. and white leather that came with it felt so so good.
I would love to see the furniture in some of these guys houses! So good to see skilled craftsmen at work, and in a product where it is appreciated.

Excellent job. An inside look at one of the world's greatest marques.

Why is it rude to fold your arms.
gurvir44 because its defensive body language or something like that, read about it a while ago

gurvir44 it's body language that implies you're closed off or opposed to what the other person is saying.
TheTonicro It says that you're not interested in what the other person is saying.
haha he corrected the introduction!
Hooray, he finally said Bentley! :D
Got it. Got it. OK. Yup. Got it.
QUIT IT MAN!
Nice video. I would like to also watch more videos like this more. Handcrafting like this make me want to change my job.
iv been waiting for this part !
lol i love the accent when he says "This is inside Beanttleaaa"
Quality workmanship. The best materials.. outstanding.
Nothing like another Episode of Inside Bensley.
This is sexy as hell. The detail that does into a Bentley. Just wow. I don't think that I will ever have the privilege, but the amount of craftsmanship that they personally put into the cars is not seen anymore. Thus the cost.
don't mind the critics JF, this was an excellent episode. Keep 'm coming!
Great but damn short video, wish they were longer
These are craftsmen of the highest caliber.
THAT is quality justifying the price. Only English and Italians are able to do that kind of higher craftsmanship.
And Koenigsegg from Sweden too
16MrMattie
Ya, but it's more of a technical craftsmanship.
And the Germans obviously..
Fugedibobo

I love the British pronunciation of "cyahh"
Craftsmanship like this used to be the norm! I think it's sad that we have lost most of the skills due to greed!
It's a form of artistry in my opinion.
I miss the days when wood shops actually used solid wood as opposed to veneers.
1:07 looks like solid wood to me... working with a chisel.
and 3:05 the guy says "solid walnut substrate".
6:19 more solid wood.
you need to learn to look and listen more closely.
James Franklin
I think Shines7 may have meant using solid wood as the finished product instead of veneering it for aesthetics. That would be extremely expensive and difficult to do though.
Ummm, when was that ? Veneers have been used for centuries in woodworking. Bentley and RR have always used veneers on their cabin accents.
JF gets it
Yup...now I want a Bentley
My favorite /Drive videos
GOT IT! sweet video, thanks guys!
Someone could tell me what kind of woods are shown in this video?
Stop at 1:27 and look at it on full screen. A face in the middle of the screen on the wood.
Here's a liver challenge: Drink a shot every time JF says "got it"
Thank you! Can you do the new Maserati next?
I wish these were longer :(
Yeah....Got it... Got it... Got it... Yeah... Seriously, tell him to shut up.

Relax.
You guys need to interview the Taxtherich100 guys. They are epic!

It would be a better interview if he could tone down the number of "Got it" a tad.
Finally changed Bentsley for Bentley.
yo imma b drivin me one a them when my album go's platnum
I feel that nothing says "Out of the way peasant!" Quite like a Bentley. #Want!
they changed the "this... is inside Bentley" from Bentsley
Interesting video, but the guys only says "Okay, Okay, Okay"
Is it John Hindhaugh of Radio LeMans narrating?
Got it, got it. Got it, got it, got it, got it, got it, got it.......
"...Okay...Awesome...Got it,, cool...Got it..."
no more "inside Bensley"?
Nice cars
exquisite!
So basically what they're saying is that they have lots of wood. They play with a lot of wood.
Less home county accents when they get down to the floor workers!
Tell your editor the background music is too loud
Got wood?
Can anyone tell what sort of british accent is that?
okay, yeah, got it, awsome... I will be hearing these words in my nightmare tonight
Inside bentsley now is gone!
I wish I had a job there
Got it!
beautiful.
Wow quality
Inside Koeniggsegg part 2?

Have you actually seen many imperfections in Bentleys?
Good to see he has improved his bodylanguage. ;)
yep.....yea.....got it
seems like yall have kept the same intro until this episode. not a complaint but the way you say "Bentley" is different.
Yeah they finally corrected it and he doesn't say "Inside BENTSLEY"
This is where the rain forest ends up, what's left of it... -.-
yeah, ok, got it.
"For hundreds of yerrs"
Bentley any day...
re-upload.
Yeah, Okay, Got it
Okay, got it, okay, got it....
please tell me I'm not the only one who saw the face in the wood 1:26
that was just creepy
heard of tree spirits?

Honestly...I think Morgan dose it better... Not that the outcome is better but just more truly handmade
does not sound good that the wood is coming from south America I really wonder if they are responsible for deforestation or if they use sustainable forests...
I don't have a dirty mind. I just have a sexy imagination. :p
Noo, its no longer inside Bentsley :-D
Rip Bentley. When it was British it was very nice, now they have VW parts in the car. Such ashame 😔
I thought i was watching benz-lee´s.

If I hear JF say "Got it" one more time I might have to unsubscribe from Drive.
The interviewer is a f in mouth breather lol
Fucking veneer... on a bentley? cheap bastards!
The host really lacks enthusiasm such a shame!
another face at 7:12 lol
