It's honestly pretty cool how most of these Tekken references translate so well into Pokémon. Like basing Scizor off of JACK/Alisa for example makes a ton of sense thematically, as does Blastoise with Kuma.
One could say it's "lazy" reusing assets from Tekken... However the fact they got really creative with how they implemented those assets, while staying true to the pokemon itself, is very commendable.
When I saw Blastoise with some of Heihachi's moves, I have just got reminded that the voice of Heihachi in Tekken 7 voiced Blastoise in the Pokemon anime in Japanese.
Guys, this game is still alive on Switch and you all can play this right now. Maybe a boost in sales from all the positive reception will send a signal for something to come in the future.
1:48 - The fact that the floating sword and quadruped mythical dog share animations/attacks with any of the Tekken cast is insane. What a cool find and great of you to show it off here. I also find it amusing that Blastoise is a combo of Armour King and Kuma... perhaps that is why Blastoise clicked so well with me in this game (though I'm a Chandelure main; Blastoise would be my 2nd pick).

As someone who’s played pokken for years since release and recently getting into tekken, I get excited and point out which Pokémon had which move when I see them while watching tekken tournaments. After trying out Hwoarang, I’m surprised Blaziken didn’t have his moves. Some of them would have been very helpful in the neutral
first, you are looking for either a fighting game or the hack and slash genre. Second, animatimg each poke would be pain, there are 950+ poke as we speak and if the h&s genre can't adapt 100 characters, how could they adapt 950?

This game is definitely simpler than Tekken, but nothing like Ninja Storm. Ninja Storm has a single combo string that you can move up or down. This game is nowhere near _that_ bad.
Smash already has plenty of pure zoning characters, and Pokken had plenty of grapplers. Incineroar in Smash makes much more sense for being really the only grappling character in the game.
@@budgetcoinhunter I see where you are coming from and even warmed up to John Cena Roar quickly, but I think it misses how grappling is different in Smash to the point that everyone is a bit of a grappler - Luigi is the most extreme case that survived into Ultimate. Incineroar is definitely low mobility, unlike say Ganondorf and more going on with his grabs but it isn't like he has the best reward outside of Revenge.

Back when pokken tournament was first revealed I thought it meant that it was an actual crossover beyond the gameplay-thought we were gonna see Heihachi fight a Machamp lol. I gotta replay this game sometime, it was a lot of fun

I've never played Tekken as much as knowing the characters references in moves but playing Pokken recently in all honesty with how Empoleon acts intros and win/lose poses he gives me heavy Leo vibes from Guilty Gear. Like yeah he's based on an emperor penguin. Which Emperor = King/Ruler so I knew I had to main him but thought I play Lars in Tekken for fun I might try out Cladio
Maybe a secret marketing move to hint Pokken 2 since Street fighter 6 announcement pretty much signals the start of the next fighting games era. Then subsequently we would get the rest Kof/SC/Tekken/Mk maybe at the mid-to-late peak of ps5/Xbox console life cycle
Idk if it's the exact reason why, but it was announced that this year is the last year Pokken will be a part of the official Pokemon Championship series.

Chandelure also borrows animations from Soulcalibur. Since Project Soul also had a hand making this game.

There's also the name of the region the game takes place from - Ferrum. As in "Iron". As in "Iron Fist" As in "Tekken".
Harada is the one directing Pokken, hence the Tekken name reference and the various stages like Dragon's Gate
