    Beautiful! My sister just cut down an old walnut tree and it made me cry. This tree was here since I can remember. So I took two logs and want to carve a bowl out of that. I have never done any carving. Your video is very inspiring! Thank you.

    Beautiful work. I’m curious, it appears that between sessions the wood darkens because each new generation of refining reveals lighter wood. Does the wood darken naturally or do you apply an oil or water between sessions? Thanks and keep up the brilliant work!

    • @TheGardenFamily

      Thank you! This type of wood (Callery (Bradford) Pear) naturally oxidizes quite quickly, I didn't add anything to the wood.

    Absolutely beautiful. Is there a reason why you split the log in half first. Is it not possible to make the same thing with the rings of the log spreading out from the centre of the log as though you started carving out straight into the centre of the log?

    • @TheGardenFamily
      @TheGardenFamily  2 месяца назад

      Hi Adam, you can orient the log the opposite way (bark side up) and get a different shape and ring pattern. If you look at my videos there is a multi part series and the first video I talk about the orientation of the log. Thanks for watching!

      Thank you Maxime! This is wood from an ornamental pear tree. They are invasive here in Ohio, USA. It is very dense wood that has an orange-pink hue. This bowl took me about 15-16 hours in total.
