Her real name is Hayden Anhedönia, Ethel Cain is both her stage name and the fictional character whose story is told through the album.

(not in a bad way ofc lol.

The Imogen Heap influence is front and center, it's such a lush anthem. Wanted an upbeat _Beach House_ with _Emma Ruth Rundle_ aesthetic for ages. It pulls back to let you enjoy the verses, then tidal waves back in with the chorus. Last _Pale Waves_ release did it on the poppier side, Ethel Cain here on the moodier, love it.

You should give the whole album a try - paying special attention to the lyrics since it's meant to tell a story... Honestly, Preacher's Daughter is one of the best albums I've ever heard. And the fact that she produced almost everything herself says a lot about the kind of artist Hayden (Ethel Cain is her stage name) is.
The funny part about this song is that her intention was to create a "fake pop" song and she accidentally made one of the best songs I've ever heard.
