My 2 cents: My parents; during construction of our family home installed these heat radiatiors around 20 in the whole house - each room/floor/basement etc had a very expensive imported boiler/geyser (don't think it's smart since almost a decade back) installed. The irony; in the past 14 years in this house we have only used this maybe 20 times? Highly impractical - the imported boiler needs a certain level of gas to heat the water & being in Pakistan we all know the gas situation/pressure frankly terrible. Second issue might be unique to us is that water is heated for the whole house regardless of whether a certain room is using it or not ie gas is fully used & since we use 2 rooms max at one time heating/having the option to heat the 15 rooms by just turning a knob is stupid - since water has already been heated regardless of on/off. So not sure feasible in PK. For apartments yes one can think of getting these!

Agreed, was thinking the same, plus when he was talking about the different types of heat that was completely false, when people in Pakistan run heat pumps they run it at 26-28c which makes the room too hot and we feel uncomfortable, instead we should run it at 18-22c which ever temperature you feel comfortable at and it uses a lot less energy than these type of heaters

Agree. With a heat pump in Pakistan in certain areas you can get a really good CoP. Running a heat pump at say 3.5Kw on solar with battery backup and a CoP of say 3 you are getting almost 10Kw of heating for only 3.5kw electricity. Also underfloor heating is more efficient. You can also use the heat pump for hot water if required

I wonder whether insulation would be an interesting follow-up video. Lots of people with Solar in their homes insulate their homes to reduce their energy consumption for heating/cooling. Most homes/apartments I see in Pakistan are not insulated though. You also have to take care when insulating to have some source of fresh air

  • @temporaknight349
    @temporaknight349 Год назад

Owais, pertinent topic - installation of ASHP (airsource Heat pumps) or fuel based central heating system are not cheap anywhere in the world (google BUS- boiler upgrade scheme). Designing a central heating system with proper heatloss calculation for a property involves a professional which should be left to heating engineers. The key to these systems are efficient and smart homes with insulation to minimise heat loss and enhance efficiency. Immersion heating is the most inefficient way of heating water. Heating is mostly required either early morning or in evening when there is no solar so heating through electric boiler will not be cheap. My take on this topic is that if you already have a central heating system installed, improve insulation to minimize heatloss, use weather compensation and smart thermostats to save fuel and use stainless steal radiators for better efficiency.

To my understanding you need to have a very good insulation system so that heat loss is prevented. So for old constructions you must put on an extra 1 to 2 million for installing insulated windows or doors. In Pakistan I dont think people have any clue of installing insulated windows or doors. The insulation I remember there was to prevent lizards or mouse to enter the house, other than that heat or cold insulation is no priority while constructing the house. May be things have changed in the past years since I moved from Pakistan but I dont hear that from family or friends there.

This person's presentation skills need some work. A country with energy crisis needs innovative solutions and adding only different kind of boilers which run on gas, electricity and other sources does not cut it. I am not an engineer but I believe that with a bit of innovation, one could use this system at a much cheaper price in Pakistan. I have been thinking about it for a while. pn how to use a normal electric geaser with a small boiler for these heaters.

Brother the supplier gave wrong explanation about working principle of environmental control system.
In air conditioner the heat exchanger condenses the humidity of air in a room. In the case of central heating, it is a closed loop system and hot working fluid (water or oil) is circulated and warm the air in the room.
So practically it doesn't have any effect on air except raising the temperature.

In the beginning the vendor said that his system is better because it works on water so does not reduce humidity in the room. Incorrect. The system works on a closed water loop and water does not come into contact with air circulating in the room. So it can not increase humidity. It would dehumidify air like any other heating device. Secondly, heat pumps (commonly known as inerter A/C's) have the highest COP and hence, the most efficient mode of space heating.

Firstly, I would recommend turning off stereo mode in Mic as its a podcast and different volume sound when using headphones just feel awkward and wrong.
Secondly regarding central heating, there is some misinformation, regarding humidity, when using gas heater, it actually has less effect compared to electric as burning gas is producing H2O to as part of combustion, thought it still cause dryness, but since heaters in Pakistan don't come with auto cut-off on gas failure, it poses gas dangers, not to mention CO poisoning due to lack of Ventilation. Coming to Inverter AC heater or simple electric heater, they both heat air causing humidity to drop, I use inverter AC heater which as you know is very energy efficient, and to address humidity, I use humidifier. The central heater in this video is also only heating air via hot water inside the radiator, the water is not coming in contact with air, so it cannot increase/maintain humidity.
Thirdly, regarding running it on solar, people can reduce solar requirement by using inverter refrigerant boiler just like inverter AC, I am not sure if anyone is importing it, and it would be expensive, but it would reduce solar requirement greatly like 3 times.
    Further I would add,
    i. please avoid it on NG/LPG unless necessary as our country is already facing severe shortage, instead force the seller to arrange inverter boiler and install on Solar (those installing it on homes/commercial will have deep pockets anyway).
ii. Have your home insulated, in europe they also use rockwool, expanded foam etc insulation in roof and walls, to reduce heat load requirement, as with central heating you are asking for constant heat from boiler, so making home energy efficient in first place is also important.
Lastly, if pocket permits, I would also like to have this system, as this allows constant temperature in whole house, not like inverter AC blowing hot air and then waiting for room to chill and repeat, and not having some rooms cold and some hot, etc, we are comfort creature and if affordable we go for it. One point I hope someone does in Pakistan is to introduce residential central cooling/heating using chilled/hot water as combined system using inverter technology, currently this is possible for commercial use, but being commercial its eye watering expensive. Also with this system, one can add insulated underground water tanks to act as a storage medium to allow for cooling/heating even without solar, water has large specific heat, so one can get away with 2000-3000 gallons storage capacity.

This system is feasible when you have a huge family and every room is occupied, I have experienced this system in one of my friends house and it was very effective.
He said it humidifies the room where as the water don't come in contact with the room environment ?

    • @brusque4u
      @brusque4u Год назад +1

actully, it does not humidify the room because water stays inside which heats up the element. Since it creates less heat over prolonged period of time compared to Gas-heater, therefore it removes less water from air. But with Gas, you get toxic gases inside house, so here in this case it wins from gas.
The best cost effective system is to buy electric oil-filled radiators, they work on similar concept, oil trapped inside radiators heats up the room without producing any toxic gases.Even if you turn it off, the oil inside radiator keeps room warm for sometime

Owais this is ineffective and expensive if you see the current and future energy crisis coming to Pakistan. Inverter ACs are best for heating in the winter because they use 1 unit of electricity but provide 3 units of heat. There is a reason why west is switching to AC or heat pumps as it can save on electricity costs and run-on renewables. Even in the UK people are replacing boilers with Heat pump-based heating solutions. The boiler is simply replaced with a heatpump and it continues to function like before. However in Pakistan due to high temperature in summers it will be better to just use an AC in heating mode during winters as it is much cheaper and readily available and will work in summers too

You can run them in Solar for free they dont eat your oxygen like fire place or gas heater. You can use Humidifier to set a humidity level. These systems are very efficient in Wood base houses plus where utilities are cheap. Water Quality should be clean too otherwise Solvents will clog your pipes over the course of period. You have to run Vinegar at slow speed for 12 hours a day after a season to maintain your lines.

If you watch movies from 40s, 50s, 60s, you'll see devices, methods, and protocols that are currently thought to be a luxury point in Pakistan. Few examples, Automatic Glass Doors, Water Dispensers, Coffee Machines, Escalators, Malls, Billing Counter in the Mall, Paying Cards, Montessori / School Systems, Folding (Murphy) Beds, Extendable Furniture (we still don't have it), Burger huh! :) Deli Food (they have almost discarded it now, but our TV Ads proudly show fashionable Moms feeding this to the family), it's a long list. Let's not just follow 50 years later. Let's look at what the developed world has today and bring that to your home. And let's perhaps go further and lead the world.

This system suits very rich in Pakistan, first u need dual system of boilers, gas, electric or reinforced by solar cause we r not sure when 1 goes off. Operating cost of average 500 sqyd house can run as high as 1 lakh. Secondly, an effective system can be installed during construction stage ensuring pipes cover the floors as per manufacturers specs, small double glazed windows and some sort of air tight mechanism. For a middle class family, small house is preffered choice where the covered area should not exceed 2000 sqft even than the energy cost will run between 30-40000 rs.
My experience is bitter, this is marketing vid, he should have given a clearer pic.

Not feasible in Pakistan due to high cost and upcoming shortage of Gas. IMO using inverter AC as heater is most economical and environment friendly option. Especially if you have installed good rating solar system and energy efficient AC then you can use your AC as heater for free in whole winter. Looks like paid promo video.

He's saying because it's water based it keeps the body humid!! That is factually incorrect. It is a "sealed" system so there is zero humidity that escapes.... on a separate topic I would say underfloor heating would be better given the floors in pakistan are primarily tiles

After 30 years they are still not so clear about the ops. of the system, its not a HVAC just a HX through air.
They uses the logo of Aramco which is patent one soon they will receive legal notice.

Honestly, I don't see the point of central heating systems like this in Pakistan, I know 3 people who have installed this in Islamabad over the past 8 - 9 years and none are running because the cost of running is very high as our houses are much bigger. Secondly we have 3 months that are cold other than that we have a hot climate, even in winters our daytime temp is very pleasant. Best to buy individual electric radiators that you can heat one room at a time. And inverter ACs are a much better option. Even people in the UK, Europe and US don't run these systems all the time because of the running cost.
    HOTELS are a different story.

Turmaz Energy is one of the worst solar companies I have ever experienced.
I have installed 10 KW system through Turmaz Energy.
    1. Quotation was not itemized. The steel structure was installed by 14 & 16 years old kids.
    2. The agreed time of installation was one week and they were even not able to finish the job in 3 months.
    3. They don't attend the calls and answer the queries.
    4. They told me that the job is complete so pay us our final amount, when I inspected the arrestor was not even installed, and to date no commitment when they are going to install.
I would highly alert people not to deal with them. We follow you but this put some extra responsibility on your shoulders to make sure that the companies are reliable.

Honest opinion would've been that this system is not suitable in Pakistan due to poor quality of tap water. Too many minerals and sediments, chokes the system in two years max.
For 3 million I would go solar and use inverter acs with a tiny humidifier.

It will be useless in most of Sindh and Punjab. As the Winter spell is very short. Also, everyone has inverter ACs now and can survive with them. Also the incremental cost of it is too high. Plus we have unreliable gas which is not even enough for basic cooking at home. I will run away from it.
