Jami you've got good instincts, follow them. You love your horses more and better than anyone and you have this amazing connection with them. I think this is why Kourtney, Doctor Cocrine and others have come into your life. They also have that same type of connection with horses. Kourt and Doc C probably live your horses near as much but they love you as well. Learn from them soak up as much as you can from them. Those horses really are living their best life and it's because of you and Lester as well. You are bonding with Roman and he feels the love. That love is something he never got before.
You all are not to far out. We got married on working cattle ranch outside of Houston. And the hotels were all 35 miles away. But the venue had 8 rooms you could rent. We rented them all and are family and wedding party stayed in them. They slept 6 people in each one. After I got married I so wanted to run a venue. Its so fun to do all the planning
With almost a dozen horses in your family, perhaps you should consider the giving each horse a chip which also tell you the temperature of the animal. The drawback would be that you would need to have the means to scan the chip.

Jamie get an ozone machine. Before my husband and I built our barndominium we were also in our trailer and nothing we could do could prevent mice. Except the ozone machine ! You just can’t enter for a certain period post turning it on.
All you can do is take one day at a time with Roman, or any other animal. Just have to wait and see, hope for the best, prayers, good thoughts, etc..... he's getting proper care, love, and is in the best he can be, and I pray he improves and recovers soon❤❤
Jamie, if Roman has breathing problems and COPD or anything like that, think about the years that he has probably worked in the fields around corn and hay when they bail it that probably has a lot to do with his breathing problems. Like you said, we don’t know what his life was like for sure, I just love you for loving him. I am a horse lover too.❤
My niece got married at the French Farmhouse north of Dallas in May (it was $$$). It was definitely a destination not close to anything. You could definitely create a beautiful venue there. 💕💝
Livingston area does need a very nice and upgraded areas for venues. I would think that the area you guys are in would also be a perfect spot. Keep thinking and dreaming, make your drawings and put them in a book for future thoughts.

Jamie I had a part draft horse and she lived to be almost 30 years old. Friends' of ours back then had full blooded shires and most of them lived to be about 25 or more for some.. Roman seems to be the same breed or close to it as the shire breed. Workhouse type. Although the horses I speak of were not a working horse., mostly parades and wedding etc. LOOK you are wonderful in the caring for your horses., even though he is older than you thought love him for however long you will have him. LOL He may surprise you to be honest. Your right he probably had a horrific life on a farm that didn't treat their animals like you and I would. DONT think the worse., give him time to heal....I hope you read this. He is a sweet horse and you can see how happy he is. Horses are smart.. they know the people they can trust. LOL and tell Lester he still likes him too. He seemed a but disheveled when you got the halter on and he didn't . Love to both of you. Roman will feel better in a few days with this dryer weather coming.🥰💓🐴🐎🌺🌼

I'm still laughing about Lester's call. Many years ago, my ex felt he had to call me daily to complain about his new wife and life. I worked in a busy hospital admin office with execs and assistants. After one grueling call, I ended with "I love you, g'bye " Heads popped up and stared at me while my mouth hung open and I could feel the color draining. After long minutes, we all broke out laughing. Yes, he heard me and I did tell him next call that it was most certainly a misspeak.
Jami, we have a rat zapper, but works for mice. You never have to see them dead. It looks like a little tunnel, takes batteries, and when they step on the pressure plate they are zapped and dead instantly.

There are some sachets you can buy @ Tractor Supply, put in the underbelly of the camper, that helps to keep them away but not 100%. To mitigate them, get some of Megan's cats-she has way too many, and don't feed them-they will catch the mice-don't make a pet of them, I know it's hard not to but they have to stay kind of feral. You & Lester looked fabulous for the wedding!!

Jami Amazon has mouse traps that I bought this year, they walk in it and get electrocuted then a light comes on so you know then you dumb it never touching it. My sister told me about them and they worked great!

It prob.is pneumonia or that travel sickness turned into it. I did see him go nose to nose with neighbor horse. I pray grandpa doesn't get it, too. Roman is just like Clifford. He is so lovable and I want nothing but the best for him. He deserves that. If it's not pneum., I would find a way to get him to the hosp. at least for more testing just so y'all know what he's dealing with. There's a draft horse a rescue recently got who looks so much like Roman. I believe it's colby crew rescue page. Also, I feel ya as far as mice..I was on the toilet one day long ago when my kitty came in with something in his mouth. I reached down thinking he bought me a toy and it moved!! It was a freakin mouse!! He wouldn't kill it! I freaked! I slammed the door shut, got a container, went back in there, put it over him, tore cardboard from tampon box lol, to slipe and cover the top, then put foil with holes so it could breathe. NO way could i kill something furry as much as I hate them! I had to call hubby home from work and he took him off to a field farrrrrrrr away (so he said) MY one and only experience with them. I've noticed the food bags are always open and that can attract them. You can get some large bag clips to keep them shut.
I swear by Zycam ... take it at first sign of cold and continue for a few days.. Also if you do catch a cold and are coughing Also if you catch a cold put vicks on your feet and place socks over them. Cough Will Stop! Keeping Roman in my Prayers. Such a sweet boy! I guess it’s like buying a used car. The salesman tells you positive things and you buy it. The thing with an animal is we fall in love with them and want to help.

They do make microchips for horses that can also read their temperature-quick results without holding the temp probe in their behinds. They also make nebulizers for horses. I didn't know either of these things were a thing until I watched a rescue and a horse trainer out of Canada. I know Roman is in good hands and you all will do everything you can for him to recover.
So sorry Jami. At this point I don't know if you should worry about Roman more or Lester. Because hes totally lost his mind. Good thing he I think embarrassed himself more than he did the lady. But crazy. Yeah people have a bad habit of tell someone what they think you want to hear about a lot of things then you have to pick up the pieces. Im watching this (in NZ) later. You need chickens Jami. Our cats bring mice inside and let them go🙄 ..so we have the ' snappy snaps' set on a permant basis.. Now, when one of those goes SNAP! We ( mostly my hubby) return the 'contents' to the great outdoors. A couple of years ago when we did this our chickens saw and ran over for a morning snack. 😲 Yup..wasnt exactly pretty to watch but. Yeah it happened and many times since. Sooo if you can be brave enough to get them out of the snappy snap the chickens will 'clean up'😊

Lester is a freaking trip!!! I laughed so hard I literally pee'd my pants and had a stomach ache! And it just kept getting funnier and funnier!!!

Yes anybody can say anything about any animal, I totally agree, I was so upset especially with him being so big, I did see a video of a draft horse that was really old over 30 I wish I had kept the link he looked like Roman cropped tail same colour I know he was a work horse It raised my heart at its age I pray Roman can get to that I am so glad he is with you and Lester I know you will do everything you can for him

Jami Amazon has mouse traps that I bought this year, they walk in it and get electrocuted then a light comes on so you know then you dumb it never touching it. My sister told me about them and they worked great!

It prob.is pneumonia or that travel sickness turned into it. I did see him go nose to nose with neighbor horse. I pray grandpa doesn't get it, too. Roman is just like Clifford. He is so lovable and I want nothing but the best for him. He deserves that. If it's not pneum., I would find a way to get him to the hosp. at least for more testing just so y'all know what he's dealing with. There's a draft horse a rescue recently got who looks so much like Roman. I believe it's colby crew rescue page. Also, I feel ya as far as mice..I was on the toilet one day long ago when my kitty came in with something in his mouth. I reached down thinking he bought me a toy and it moved!! It was a freakin mouse!! He wouldn't kill it! I freaked! I slammed the door shut, got a container, went back in there, put it over him, tore cardboard from tampon box lol, to slipe and cover the top, then put foil with holes so it could breathe. NO way could i kill something furry as much as I hate them! I had to call hubby home from work and he took him off to a field farrrrrrrr away (so he said) MY one and only experience with them. I've noticed the food bags are always open and that can attract them. You can get some large bag clips to keep them shut.
I wondered about the neighbor horses too and their nose to nose brief contact.
I swear by Zycam ... take it at first sign of cold and continue for a few days.. Also if you do catch a cold and are coughing Also if you catch a cold put vicks on your feet and place socks over them. Cough Will Stop! Keeping Roman in my Prayers. Such a sweet boy! Jami, jmo but i think the coloseum needs to be closed in for a large stall warm dry area for Roman to feel cozy and safe in. He may have a low tolerance healthwise right now plus it would be his space....

You need working cats you can't feed too much. Hungry they hunt. Once heard mouse is perfect cat food but no one would buy it. My cats play with them oh joy!!
I think the lady that gave Paris to Jake was also not truthful. She was sick immediately. And the people that gave Bri Barbi I don’t think they were truthful either. I guess it’s like buying a used car. The salesman tells you positive things and you buy it. The thing with an animal is we fall in love with them and want to help.

I have my great grandmother’s freshwater pearls. Unfortunately they need to be re-strung!
They do make microchips for horses that can also read their temperature-quick results without holding the temp probe in their behinds. They also make nebulizers for horses. I didn't know either of these things were a thing until I watched a rescue and a horse trainer out of Canada. I know Roman is in good hands and you all will do everything you can for him to recover.

So sorry Jami. At this point I don't know if you should worry about Roman more or Lester. Because hes totally lost his mind. Good thing he I think embarrassed himself more than he did the lady. But crazy. Yeah people have a bad habit of tell someone what they think you want to hear about a lot of things then you have to pick up the pieces. Unfortunately that happened to you with Roman, poor guy. But we all know he's in a much better place. Maybe god sent you because you would help. Good advice though from Dr Cochran. Prayers between your help and hers he'll be feeling much better soon. Nice pics of wedding, glad you enjoyed yourself. Back problems are the worst, suffered about 10 years now from mine. Jamie they do have live mouse traps.....but, I've never had one just the old fashioned mouse traps. My boys , thank goodness for them because I can't.

Our cats bring mice inside and let them go🙄 ..so we have the ' snappy snaps' set on a permant basis.. Now, when one of those goes SNAP! We ( mostly my hubby) return the 'contents' to the great outdoors. A couple of years ago when we did this our chickens saw and ran over for a morning snack. 😲 Yup..wasnt exactly pretty to watch but. Yeah it happened and many times since.
Sooo if you can be brave enough to get them out of the snappy snap the chickens will 'clean up'😊
I would keep Roman in the red barn. It's more warm and close to take care of.

I’m PRAYING for someone I hardly have had time to get to know but, who I’ve totally fallen in love with, namely ROMAN❤️🙏🏻I recognised his SWEET SPIRIT within the second video I watched, and he’s given me no reason to think otherwise . . . . he’s just, like some folk we meet/know and also some animals; they just ooze that ‘SOMETHING’ which can often be mysterious and difficult to nail down, anyway suffice to say, ROAN has it in spades❤️🙏🏻
