    Thank you for showing how to pair. My was flashing uncontrollably while it was unplugged for quite some time after I moved and didn’t know why it wasn’t responding anymore. Opened it and tried what other videos said which was pressing button 5x (5 times) or the guy with the ikea blinds that wasn’t useful at all. I was able to hold the button the get it to flash or breathe, and was up and running.

    Hi do I need to buy a hub to make the bulb combo work?

    Thumbs up from me!

    • @SkyPerspective
      @SkyPerspective  7 месяцев назад +1

      If you only have one lamp and only intent to use one remote with that one lamp, then you don't need a hub. I recommend you get the one with the round remote control. It allows you to change temperature (warm white or day light) and dim the lights and of course has the on/off switch. The bulb should come paired with the remote control out of the box. Hope this helps

      Hi MusicaErika, no you dont need to check for LED bulbs compatibility. You just need to make sure the socket of the bulb (E27 or B22) will fit your lamp. These IKEA combos are designed to easily fit any light bulb sockets and straight away you can use the remote to control the bulb. Hope this help.

    • @SkyPerspective

      If you want to use only 1 switch to sometimes turn 3 lamps on and sometimes turn 1 lamp on, then you will need to connect the lamp and switch to a central hub like Samsung Smartthings. From the Smartthings app, we can program pressing the switch and press and hold the switch as two different commands.

      No, it's straightforward and I didn't install any drivers. All I did was set the bulbs and switch to pairing, go to smartthings app and make the smartthings hub add a device. The tricky part is choosing the right brand and device. There are a number of switches and bulb under IKEA in smartthings app to choose from. For e.g. the square swtich is called "Ikea dimmer"

    Can I turn on different lights seperetly with the same switch. As In I have 2 lamps but only want 1 lamp on at the time. Can the remote control separate bulbs at a time?

    • @SkyPerspective

      Yes, if you connect the bulbs and remote to a smart home system like Smartthings, but it will be complicated. You can use smartthings to program the on button to toggle on/off for bulb 1, and the off button to toggle on/off for bulb 2.
      If you connect the two bulbs directly to the switch then that one switch will turn the two bulbs on and off at the same time.

    Can you have two remotes controlling the same bulb?

    • @SkyPerspective
      @SkyPerspective  2 года назад

      You will need a smart home hub like the Samsung Smartthings Hub to program two switches to control any one or set of bulbs. If direct pairing between a switch and a bulb, you can only have one switch.

  • @yupmhm912
    @yupmhm912 3 года назад

    Great video! Can you control multiple different bulbs from the app? And can they be different colors if connected to the same control?

    • @SkyPerspective
      @SkyPerspective  3 года назад

      Yes, they can.
      With the app control, I am using both the Philips hue app and the Samsung smartthings app to control the same set of bulbs. Initially, we need to set up the room and scenes in order to control different (colour) bulbs.
      With the Ikea switch control, we can only connect one switch to one bulb for direct connection. Alternatively, we can connect the Ikea switch to the smartthings app to turn on all the different bulbs in any room. It's difficult to explain typing this. Hope it's not too confusing.

    I have just bought an IKEA smart light and a wireless dimmer remote. So afterall I still need to buy a Gateway to connect them together in order to control through Alexa?

    • @SkyPerspective
      @SkyPerspective  3 года назад

      Hi Vinc Tee, I haven't used the Ikea gateway before. Base on my understanding, the gateway is for us to connect the lights to Wi-Fi and internet, so we can use the Ikea mobile app control the lights, even when we are away from home.
      I use Google home and Bixby, but have not used Alexa before. If Alexa can add Ikea gateway then it will be compatible, if not, i don't think the gateway will work with Alexa.
      What i have done is i connect the Ikea light bulbs directly to my Samsung smartthings hub, without the Ikea Gateway. I can control it using Samsung Smartthings app. Samsung Smartthings can then connect to Google home and Bixby for me to control the lights using Google home and Bixby.
      I don't think I have answered your question😁, but I hope this helps.

    Can a singular Samsung SmartHub work with both devices connected in the first or second floor?

    • @SkyPerspective
      @SkyPerspective  2 года назад

      Hi Matas, it depends on how close the devices are, like up top of each other across the two floors, or in diagonal rooms across your house. It also depends on whether the second floor is wood or concrete. Many things can disrupt radio frequency, like metal racks. Unfortunately, we cannot be 100% sure until you test it out in your two story building. Generally speaking, devices like Bluetooth, wireless routers, and smart hubs usually have a signal coverage of 10 meters (30 feet). Hope this helps.

  • @speeqtruth

    If you reset to factory reset how do you pair again?

    • @SkyPerspective
      @SkyPerspective  2 года назад

      Ikea bulb pairs by close proximity, meaning the controller that is attempting to pair with the bulb needs to be really close to the bulb. So you can take either of the controller, position it really close to the bulb, press and hold the pair button, the bulb will flash and blink indicating it has re-paired with the new controller.
