I love your videos! Amongst the coffee RUclipsrs, you are absolutely one of my favourites! Wonderful smile, very sympathetic impression, calm, no overpowering music and content is always to the point. Keep it up!
I was on the fence about my aero press. It makes an OK cuppa coffee, I thought, but what I really liked is the new house all equipment. After this video, I made a flat white ….. mind blown! My second cup I added half&half to offset my low fat milk. Hands down best cup I’ve ever made at home! Great video, no fancy tools - I’m not opening a coffee house! Thank you! 😁
This is it. i'm on the fence about buying a proper coffee machine after not being particularly impressed with my Nespresso. Having seen this will give it a go with an AeroPress instead.
I totally enjoyed this recipe. I find that it was comparable to James Hoffman's aeropress recipe for coffee with milk using 18g with 90ml water. This yielded a smoother, more rounded cup for me and I save 4g of bean to boot. Good job!
You know you can just make a bit less coffee if you want to save on beans, right😁? Both James and Aleš used the same coffee to water ratio in their recipes so if anything Aleš is saving some more time for you since his recipe total time is 1 min while James waits for 90 seconds before pressing down.
Excellent video, I've been trying this all week with good to excellent results. Every day with a small modification, it gets better. 70 grams of water @ 199 degrees, 14 grams of beans ground @ 4 clicks out on a Porlex Mini ll, Milk @ 155 degrees F, foamed in a mini French press, all done on a inverted AP, excellent Flat White, Thanks!
Is inverted necessary or just a preference? I thought on super fine grind sizes it wouldn't make that big of a difference because there's barely any leakage. But Imma def try out your recipe I just got my aeropress this christmas and am new to milk coffees
@@khirek5335 More habit than anything else. I started with a A/P (2) years ago and quickly changed over to inverted as I didn't like the early start to the process. You might very well be right in regards to the finer grind in the normal position, I never tried it. I suspect the grinder and coffee bean has more to do with success when using this process. While the Porlex Mini ll is a great little grinder, I think consistency can still be improved. A good espresso blend also makes a huge difference. Good luck!
Great vid. Just made the flat white, it's really lush. My latte art skills are poor but will up my game as my boyfriend got me a barista course as a bday present :) Keep up the quality!
Take a mix of this and the Cappucino video. Aeropress for the coffee (with a Fellow Prismo if you've got one), and a French Press for frothing the milk. The French Press gives a much denser foam needed for the fIat white. I make mine with 22g of coffee. 50g of water. 180g of milk. This gives me a nice, strong tasting flat white.
I never knew you could make foam with a french press, good to know that it works! Do you leave every part of the stamp attached? The squishy sieve too?
Edit: No need to respond I just did and it worked flawlessly! Don't have anything else to do the job so this little life hack really comes in handy. And great recipe of yours too!
Its so strange that this should have popped up into my suggested videos as I recently bought an AeroPress and have been using this exact method for a couple of weeks now, so it seems that its true that, 'great minds think alike' .
Just tried this and I was not expecting it to be so good given the 20s aggression stir and short brew time! Had it with steamed soya+heavy cream and my old my!
Thanks for all the videos you upload Aleš. I enjoy a lot the hard work and the enthusiasm you and your team has for making the videos. I specially enjoy the AeroPress ones, since it’s my main brewing method to prepare coffee, and i love how you invest so much time developing new recipes for this artefact. Hope you are all doing well during this pandemic. Will wait your new videos with great excitement. Cheers!
Thanks. Wish you too the best from the Chilean Patagonia :) I hope i could see a video about AeroPress and different types of coffee profiles (dark, light roast)
If I want to make a double espresso do I just double the coffee and water to 28, 140g? Or do I need to adjust the time as well? 🤔 Also, I love the cup you use for your initial aeropress brew, is it insulated? Who makes it? 😁
It’s much easier to use the AeroPress. I can control the brewing parameters (like coffee to water brew ratio or temperature) that I found difficult using the Moka Pot. It’s fair alternative for a strong coffee to dilute with milk!
I really enjoy your videos, the style of production is great, I loved the Aeropress documentary too. What type is the small gas stove you use to heat the milk? do you have a link to purchase? or the brand so I can search online?
What kind of burner is he using for the milk? I've only ever seen mini burners that hook up to the standard half size cans that you can get in any hardware store. The burner he's using is much smaller and doesn't look like a standard propane tank.
Not cold. Cooler than when you brew, yes, but if you're brewing at the normal temp of around 200°F, and then adding that warm/hot milk, you're probably fine.
At 3:10 you said you was using 100 ml milk, but you scale that 100 grams milk, I don't get it, please help me, were you using 100 ml or 100 gram milk? Give me explanation about that.
Normally milk has the density of 1.03 grams/mL, so it didnt differ much with water 103grams of milk equals to 100mL of milk But frothing the milk will give more volume, depends on how much air you get inside the milk.
I'm brand new to using an aeropress and making coffee and I had to pause this video so many times, the first step is actually like 9 steps all at once! This is so difficult!
Why do people insist on taking a coffee making device and claiming it makes espresso based drinks when they know good and well it can not make espresso. People you CAN NOT make espresso in any form with an Aeropress, therefore you can not make a flat white, cappuccino or a latte with one. You can however make a delicious cup of coffee with one.

I've had my Aero Press since about 2014 and just recently I've rediscovered it and brought it out of storage. Can't wait to try this flat white idea
Coffee
14g espresso grind
70g 93degrees celcius
20s stir
60s press
--> 50g coffee
Milk
100ml 60 degrees
Shake
You know what? After watching some espresso and tasting it, I think I'm going to try this suggestion in the morning.
It's pretty good!
been doing this since im a newbie and i dont wanna invest in much equipment yet. thank you for sharing this vid :)

how long do you steep the coffee or you just straight away push the aeropress?

This is a greaaaaaaaat recipe. Now please share how to make a cappuccino, cortado, and latte. PLEASE.
With the aeropress
"step 1: make coffee" got me ☠ nice video!
That's pretty neat!
If I want to make a double espresso do I just double the coffee and water to 28, 140g? Or do I need to adjust the time as well? 🤔 Also, I love the cup you use for your initial aeropress brew, is it insulated? Who makes it? 😁
The cup comes with the aeropress go package.
Would this recipe work for two milk drinks by doubling coffee and water?
Amazing!
Do we need to steep the coffee after adding the water since you just go straight in pushing the aeropress?
This is amazing!!
Is it possible to get a crema with an aero Press? Black coffee with a frothy head. Thanks.
How many clicks on the Comandante grinder? :)
Based on previous videos about aeropress ways to brew, it should be at 6 up to 8 clicks on comandante 😉
Could you say why you used the aeropress over something like a Moka pot? How would you change the amount of coffee and grind size accordingly?
It’s much easier to use the AeroPress. I can control the brewing parameters (like coffee to water brew ratio or temperature) that I found difficult using the Moka Pot.
It’s fair alternative for a strong coffee to dilute with milk!
The total time is from when water first came in contact with the coffee?
Yes
Yes, that is right but it is just a marker for your reference. It depends on how much you stir and how long is your pour.
I will try this
I see you are using 1:5 ratio with 14g coffee to 70g water. Have you tried lower ratios like 1:3 or 1:4?
Nice, what’s the ideal grind for this? It’s important for aeropress.
I used a French press to make foam but the bubbles are big and coarse. Shaking flask is totally out of my mind. Thanks for sharing ❤️
How many clics is fine for espresso? I generally use between 8 and 11 clics in recipes with milk
Yeah, I think it is a good range. We are also between 8 to 10 clicks.
I really enjoy your videos, the style of production is great, I loved the Aeropress documentary too. What type is the small gas stove you use to heat the milk? do you have a link to purchase? or the brand so I can search online?
What utensil you used for heat up the milk?
the milk foaming worked i am practicing latte art.
French press is also a good tool to foam the milk,
You are right! We featured the technique in the other video so we wanted to share an alternative. Thanks for sharing it anyway.
What kind of burner is he using for the milk? I've only ever seen mini burners that hook up to the standard half size cans that you can get in any hardware store. The burner he's using is much smaller and doesn't look like a standard propane tank.
I find that 17g coffee to 55 ml water is a lot closer to espresso - use the metal filter if you have it
Ok, so how many clicks are you using in the comandante?
This way is really good! I tried right now. Thank you~😍
Salut c'est de l'art.
Wouldn’t the coffee be cold by the time you have got the milk ready?
Not cold. Cooler than when you brew, yes, but if you're brewing at the normal temp of around 200°F, and then adding that warm/hot milk, you're probably fine.

how many grams of coffee you use?
Whenever i am shaking the jar, it results in more like cappuccino foam.
At 3:10 you said you was using 100 ml milk, but you scale that 100 grams milk, I don't get it, please help me, were you using 100 ml or 100 gram milk?
Give me explanation about that.
At least with water 1 ml ~ 1 gram, milk can be slightly different but not that much. I hope 😅
Normally milk has the density of 1.03 grams/mL, so it didnt differ much with water 103grams of milk equals to 100mL of milk
But frothing the milk will give more volume, depends on how much air you get inside the milk.
try heating the milk in a microwave. Its easier, faster, and readily available
I tried this but the milk got cold vey fast (or maybe it was the foam?) . What am I doing wrong?
Perhaps you can pre-heat the flask with hot water, this way it should not cool down quickly (also it is good to use an insulated flask).
Thanks I'll try that!
What's the difference between flat white and a machiatto?
As far as I know, it's the amount of milk and coffee, and frothiness of the milk.
A Machiatto is an espresso shot, with a little amount of frothed milk on top. The flat white is its bigger brother.
love it
Isn't it supposed that there should be more coffee than milk?
I think it's essential to preheat the flask. Otherwise, your milk will end up tepid and your flat white will be horrible.
I'm brand new to using an aeropress and making coffee and I had to pause this video so many times, the first step is actually like 9 steps all at once! This is so difficult!
