Amazing Similarities between Mayas and Hindu Nagas
( The first part of this article is Are Mayas, Indian Nagas?)
    1. Strange co incidence: Kali Yuga 3102 BC and Maya Yuga beginning 3114 BC
    2. Maya appearance: Maya people of Central America look exactly like Manippur or Nagaland people.
    3. Maya architecture resembled Pallava and South East Asian monuments
    4. Justifying their name NAGAS (Sanskrit name for snake) Snake Symbol is found every wherein Naga buildings.
    5. “Maya”- was the divine architect in Hindu mythology. Justifying the name Maya, we see a lot of huge buildings in the Maya countries Mexico, Honduras, Belize and Guatemala.
    6. 1000 pillar mandap is mentioned in Vedas and it is found in Madurai and other places. We hear about 1000 pillar mandap in Chichen Itza at the tip of Yucatan peninsula.
7.Patchouli is a game played by both Mayas and Indians
8.Tamil word catamaran is used in Mexico, where Mayas flourished for centuries.
    9. Migration Route: Sri Lanka-South East Asia-Central America-South America was the Nga migratory route. All these places are called Naka Loka (Nagaland) in Tamil and Sanskrit literature.
Indus river port Patala was used for travel to the countries down below Indian peninsula and so they were called Patala Loka.
    10. Nagas are mentioned in Vedas ( Pancavimsa Brahmana-iv.9,4 ) and they are an ancient race
    11. Nagas in Nala Damayanthi story in Mahabharata and Sangam Tamil literature mention special type of clothes made by the Nagas.
    12. Over twenty Naga poets composed Tamil poems which were in the Tamil Sangam anthology.
    13. Sri Lanka Nagas and SE Asia Nagas freely mingled with Non Naga races. Agastya Rishi married a Naga princes by name Yasomati in South East Asia. Rig Vedic Agastya was different who married Lopamudra, a princess of Vidharba.( Vedic civilization spread far south beyond Vidharba during Rig Vedic days. This explodes the Westerner’s myth of Aryan-Dravidian divisions).
14.Mahabharata period Nagas married their women to Arjuna (Ulupi and Chitrangatha) One of them is a Tamil also known as Miss Alli Rani.
    15. Lord Krishna was Anti Naga and Indra was Pro Naga, according to Hindu scriptures.
    16. Krishna’s two clashes with Nagas: Khandava Vana (Gondwana land) and Kaliya Marthan (dancing on the head of a snake)
    17. Arjuna’s grandson Parikshit’s assassination culminated in the migration of Nagas outside India.
    18. Janamejayan’s massacre was stopped by the good offices of Astika and Jaratkaru.
19.Brahmin’s peace deal was worked out on the banks of Narmadha (Mahismati) and Brahmins remember this every day in their Sandhyavandana Mantra.
    20. The Padma Purana says of the seven infernal regions Mahatala, Rasatala and Patala are occupied by Nagas and Danavas. The suffix ATL in many Naga names may be ATALA.
    21. Paramapatha Sopana Patam/picture is a Snake and Ladder game played by Tamils and Telugus, where in all the Naga leader pictures are drawn.
22.Ophir-Oviyar- Chitra-Painter- is another name of Nagas. Probably they wore Tattoos of snakes on their bodies. Ophites (snake worshippers) is mentioned in Greek literature. Hippolytus and Clement of Alexandria mention this sect.
Sarpa Rakja (Rani) is mentioned in Pancha Vimsa Brahmana. Aligi and Viligi are mentioned in Atharva Veda. Aligi and Viligi are found in Sumerian clay tablets. They may be Nagas/Mayas. Probably Krishna devotees wanted to ridicule them by depicting them as snakes with their names written. When one reaches a snake square by rolling the dices, the player gets negative points and go to the bottom of the board.
    23. American born Swami B. V. Tripurari asks, “What mysterious psychological law would have caused Asians, and Americans to both use the umbrella as a sign of royalty, to invent the same games, imagine similar cosmologies, and attribute the same colours to the different directions?”
Hindus and Mayas use umbrella as a royal symbol which is mentioned in Sangam Tamil literature and Sanskrit literature in thousands of places.
Hindus, Jains, Buddhists attribute four different colours to East, South, West and North. Mayas follow it.Maya colours :East-red, South- yellow, West- black, North- white. It is slightly different from Buddhists and Hindus. Shiva’s five faces are attributed with colours. Buddhists colours for directions was even mentioned by a Muslim traveller like Albiruni. Mahabharata attributes four colours for four Yugas (white, yellow, red and black).
23.Sanskrit Names for Towns: Guatemala =Gauthama alaya; Tiwanaku= Deva Naga;Tikal=Trikala,Teotihuachan=Deva Takshan,Mitla=Mithila, Orinoco= Ori Nagan, Machu Pichu= Macha Pucham (exactly looking like fish wall. There is one more place with the same name in the Himalayas/Nepal, Jaina Island, Mani, Copan= Sopana,Cholula=Chola,Aryballus= Arya Bala, Chetumal=Ketumala Dwipa=Guatemala,Aztec=Astika (Rishi who saved Nagas). Loads of Sanskrit and Tamil names can be derived by a patient researcher. We can justify it by observing waves of migrations. Tula, Yacatehctli (Yaga Deva Thali) Yaxchilan (Yaksha Seelan) also sound like Sanskrit names.
    24. Over seventeen Egyptian kings who lived 3500 years ago had the same title Ramses. It may be Rama Seshan (Vishnu) or Ramesan (Shiva). Egyptian pharaohs Ramses heads are decorated with snake like Lord Shiva’s head. Vishnu had it (snake Adi Seshan) as his bed.
    25. Swastika, elephant, lotus: Hindu motifs lotus, Swastika and elephant are found in Maya sculptures. Americas have not got elephants. Millions of years ago mammoths only roamed American north.

Palenque (Tamil word Palingu): One of the town names is Palengue. There is a stone temple which looks like marble temple. Palingu is a Tamil word for Marble, Mirror, Crystal etc. Ther eis no doubt that Tamil Nagas also were part of the migration. One of the twenty Tamil Naga poets is Maruthan Ila Nagan who has contributed a lot.
29.The very script of Mayas is round which looks like Palalva Grantha.

I have been telling my wife all along that Asian people have been all over this planet! Everytime I do research (I'm a Historian) I realize that we are all connected. From the "Native Americans" in America to the native & indigenous people of Mexico & South America! I tell her all the time that Mexican people are really Spaniards & etc who came here from Europe & took over, but the real Mexians are from Asia. Genealogy explains all of this in detail, it's fascinating!

I'm never amazed that an institution as big as Berkeley, with all the resources at their disposal, can't find someone to edit these videos so that we don't have to look at the images being discussed displayed in the background but rather, it would be so much better and more informative if a full frame slide image which had been properly inserted. It's an example of being so smart... you are stupid. I'd be embarrassed to have such a prize speaker and cool subject wrapped in this dumpy presentation. You can't get this channel right, so why should anyone be interested in a so called "premium" channel. And besides, didn't you use taxpayer money to do most of your work. If I were a citizen of California I'd be asking about my ROI or refund of investment. Double regressive taxation. And as far as endowments and the like... With out the seed of taxpayer money there would be no endowments. So those endowments are taxpayer monies too. Come on maaaaan you are Berkeley! Have some class! Otherwise, there are people and institutions that could do more with less.

Very nice presentation, clear and instructive, if short of a narrative of the storied people who lived then, who built great civic projects across one of the most difficult landscapes on Earth. Their titanic efforts beg the questions, "Who were they?" and "Where did they go?" The Mayans of Cortez' time sound like the same debauched story as the Chacoans of that culture's end, caught up in religious traditions and petty politics to such a point, they were subjects of the Aztecs.
I think the real story is what moved these peoples, what drove them to create what they then left behind, attaining stunning levels of urban design in a time when rude collections of huts was the norm, only to fade from the stage, leaving a dazzling display of stonework and composition. Unlike Rome, dying in vainglory to be reborn in legend and Christianity, in Central and South America, a curtain dropped over the connection to the bygone world the Maya and Inca came from, a world where great stone temples were built, to industry, or God, or the Universe, is unclear. The climate changed, after their "emergence"/arrival, but not for centuries did it become the rainforest it is now, where vegetation aggressively clogs every available surface.
Eventually, the original "Maya" travelled on, into a more dangerous environment than they were prepared for, and fizzled out. Those who stayed intermingled with others in the area, and the bloodline "thinned", to the trappists and traditionalists of Cortez' era, more involved with the intricacies of the process, than the results.

The final comment about the Aztec using the wrong tactics to fight the Spanish Conquistadors and lost the kingdom is partly true. Besides better weapons, the Spanish had their diseases (including Smallpox) from the Old Wold which the Aztec had no immunity against. Their King Montezuma II (their god king) died would make the Spanish more god-like so their army would eventually submit to Spanish rule.
There may not have been extensive contact between the Old & the New World in the sense people from 1 continent went to the other side and founded settlements. But we kept finding little things like traces of tobacco in an Egyptian pharaoh's tomb or Chinese ship anchors off the coast of California sort of thing.
According to the research of an American Charlotte Harris Rees she inherited some old maps from Korea from her father Handon Herris with Chinese writing and claimed the Chinese had the navigation knowledge and were the first to come up with a world map many centuries before Waldseemüller's map in 1507.

I also believe humans have traveled the world several times over in all of our forms and feel we grossly underestimate our ancestors. I know I can only speculate and your erudition is quite the opposite. Thank you so much for your scholarship and clarity. It seems to me that great art and culture go hand in hand with combativeness. I also wonder if like the Celts, Irish if pre Celt and American Indian Mayan and Olmec goals were raids for prestige and proof of manhood only very occasionally resorting to brutal conquest.

The Toltec were much more different culturally from Angkor than the Mayans. Angkor was founded around the same time as the Mayans were abandoning their cities. Angkor also got much of their culture from India, had steel and elephants as beasts of burden. The maya had no steel or huge beasts to move stone with. The Mayans are a much more impressive civilization than Angkor.

Very good presentation. We often think of seas & oceans as a geographic barrier. However, many academics pointed out oceans have always been highways for long distance travel even across continents. The Polynesians are examples of great navigators. It took them less than 100 years to settle in practically every island in their region of the Pacific. Since ancient times people migrated to other continents by means of boats. Even a small boat build in the right configuration can survive many weeks of travelling in the open ocean.
The only thing is the last part of the presentation about the Aztec using the wrong tactics to fight the Spanish was a bit too simplistic. You have to consider the people in the New World had no immunity against diseases from the outside. If the Spanish stayed any longer, half the population would be wiped out. And a population who is superstitious would worship the Spanish as rulers anyway. Unless the locals had enough confidence they can win major battles they're going to eventually give in.

The conquistadors were smart, they played the different native kingdoms against one another in their conquests. The Aztecs ruled through fear, so there was no shortage of native allies. Cortez brought with him thousands of local warriors to every battle, since he had so few Spaniards. That was the real difference maker, not horses or cannon or the smallpox epidemic (which killed as many of his allies as it did his enemies). It was ruthless, intelligent divide and conquer strategy.
If, as the speaker said, the Aztecs refused to meet them in pitched battle, it would have meant the end of their empire as many of their former vassals would align with the Spanish.

The Khmer (pronounced Khmyee) and the Maya (also notice how similar they sound) were indeed connected including the mayans of America (as for north as ohio). They also were indeed Naga- darker skinned curly haired before the multiple waves of intermixing with foreign nations.
My ancestors were Naga who lived in what is now known today as Alabama. They built pyramid mounds and were also war like. We had temples and other forms of European Architecture in our civilization because of the moors who came in an intermingled with our mothers. We also have strong ties to Mexico. Some of us today are known as muscogee and are the descendants of ancestors who moved out of Mexico and into Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, after a great volcano. We have been relabeled today as “black” due to historical revisionism (research Walter Plecker & Jack D Forbes) . We had our own identity but now they call us black and pretend our history doesn’t exist. Meanwhile foreign invaders from the north known as the Iztac (later Aztec) steal our names and claim to be the first when they could only build teepees.

@Joey Smith Khmer weren’t central asian 😂 they were a mix of South Asian and Australo and they were brown skinned or black skinned. That’s also what the original Mayas were. Ancient Central Asia was a mix of Iranic and Eastern European(Scythian) and they have their origins in parts of Europe and the caucuses. They also brought the caste system into India from what I know. Modern central Asians also have some Turkic/Mongolic now but that’s due to invasions. look at the Khmer depictions of themselves, they don’t look like ‘caucus’ people at all lol. They clearly resemble some Indians and Australo people. Southern Chinese also migrated much later though, but only assimilated or the culture and religions of these people. These monuments were already built involving no white or yellow people.

We r all connected to each other but later gautam Buddha theory to reject of god and practice widely now.
We r all following vadic shastra and Dharma, but have no name like buddhism, Christian thats why hindu name is form for united all our people again but it late because now rejection of god(buddhist) practices more.

Also Antartica had before it had iced over was a World Trade Center that provided a major Atlantis type island for world Trade . Thus the gold that Europeans explorers had tried to find , the city of golden roads was in Antartica as world trade was so great that gold was accumulated as Gems . The giant docks for shipping are now being seen from the ice melt , as other clues that are being suppressed . But that will be exposed as it can’t be hidden forever !
