I would have been crying during this performances this song has gotten me through the darkest days of my life where I was dying from my autoimmune disease before diagnosis. I wish Ian never left us ❤
You were a young man and rocked out to this. Felt every note. Now you reminisce but also wonder, where has it gone? And this reminds you it’s here, in its own way, Ian is still a part of you. His sadness shines a light on what you feel at times. You are still here. And maybe he’s not, but it doesn’t matter, the melancholy masterpiece lives on. To be enjoyed like a tall tree that was here before and after you. The leaves were beautiful though, weren’t they?
This song always hurts because unlike a lot of people I live this song. I deal with nihilistic depression. It's not sadness, it's total apathy. You were given a worthless life in an unjust world without permission and now you're forced to continue living this meaningless life one day at a time while everyone you know and love dies around you. "A loaded gun won't set you free, or so they say." It won't now your a ghost which is even more lonely and borning.
The music performance was great. I do wish that the vocals had given it a bit more of an operatic approach, as it is something that could easily be done with such a tone. If nothing else, a bit stronger, emotional tone would have worked better I think. Nothing against her voice, just that it wasn't a good match for the pathos of the song.
To be fair how can anyone top Ian Curtis's voice for this, a hard act to follow, mind you surprisingly Moby come reasonably close which I nether thought I would ever say lol
This is arguably one of my favourite songs of all time and love the orchestra, but just not 100% sold on Mica's choice of vocals, especially early on. Otherwise it's a wonderful piece of music that could easily be in a film or series.
Great orchestra, horrible singer. Singer is out of tone, out of rhythm, exaggerated body language, horrible voice. The singer was unable to understand the real meaning of this amazing song. Ian Curtis did not deserve such a bad interpreter.
So much treacle poured over it that it'll eventually turn into amber. Ill-conceived, -transcribed, -arranged, everything. _New Dawn Fades_ transformed into something depressing. Deserves a footnote in the history of artistic poor taste.
Its a fantastic piece of music that is lifted with the strings and taken to a different place with the singers style, so what. Its not the original raw masterpiece by Ian, but as a UK northerner brought up with the punk and Indy music and groups around this time like joy division, I think Ian would have loved the twist, and why not.

What I find so beautiful about this is that in retrospect they make this song almost feel like a tribute to Ian and his legacy.
It IS a tribute.

I like the tree thing you said. Very apt.
Magnifique... Touchant... Beaucoup d'émotions... 👍
This brings the tears of joy to my my eyes!
Listen to the Club Paradiso audio then this.. Amazing intensity.. and then a complete change of mood.. both brilliant
Damn, this immortal song fits any genre...this could easily be a great film score
Kind of is. its heavily sampled by Moby that made the score for Michael mann´s movie HEAT.
@@Nomis3586 Right, I knew that. I actually referred to this particular performance, too bad's it's already "taken".

Wouah, reinterpretation originale et magnifique, 🙏❤️
Lovely!!!
Powerful tune!
The first time I heard Joy Division I knew and felt I was hearing something iconic. This is amazing!
Saw this concert in London at the Palladium October 2022. Blown away and very emotional. This version could be used in a James Bond title track
Merveilleux
Astonishing
Incredible
This ain't a reworking it's a completely different song ethereal, ghostly and otherworldly, incredible.
Cette version m accompagnera lors de mes funérailles 🖤
Idem....le plus tard possible ! Imaginez la voix de Siouxsie ici...

Hermosoooooooh
I am on my knees!!!!
Best song ever
That's what I call a good cover, great vocals and music.
Wow, this orchestration gives Joy Division the roundness of a 40-year-old Porto. Cinematic!

Holy shit!
Wow!!!!

This would be great for a James Bond movie... - The vocalist gets it, takes it to another level, amazing!
Grazie Ian
Is Hooky a part of this or did he do similar shows…….?

Who is the vocalist

👏
I don't know of anyone I'd trust to do this except maybe Peter Murphy. Maybe.
I wasn't pleased with this one bit.

Ian Curtis did not deserve such a bad interpreter.
Awful... It doesn't work. It's far too sappy and sounds like a Hollywood western film score.
So much treacle poured over it that it'll eventually turn into amber. Ill-conceived, -transcribed, -arranged, everything. _New Dawn Fades_ transformed into something depressing.
Deserves a footnote in the history of artistic poor taste.
inappropriate search for dramatic style effects in the voice. Lack of decency. It’s like having Kate bush singing! Awful !
it´s just about taste.... I think Ians voice is better, but lack of decency is not correct in my opinion

Kate Bush: "What? Leave me out of this, thank you very much."
Bullshit!
Brilliant accompaniment, awful vocal.
Sacrilige ! Nobody should cover Joy Division songs !
