UPDATE: 4.5 fix has been merged with all 4.0+ fixes, same link as below! 4.5 Update time - As far as I'm aware, only Xianyun and Gaming mods broke in the update. A fixer has been released on Gamebanana already, which can be found at gamebanana.com/tools/16433. Note that this is not integrated with the 4.4 fix yet, so you'll still have to run that if you need to fix mods for anyone else. I've also been told that apparently there was a typo in the 4.4 fixer, which meant that it failed to fix Furina mods! Fortunately, the 4.3 fixer will work on her all the same. There are a few more complex mods that got broken in 4.5, mostly mods with transparency components to them. It's unlikely there'll ever be a unified fix for this, so you'll just have to be patient with waiting for the mod maker to fix it. Until next time!

One thing that's interesting about Genshin mods is that it's clearly really popular across the internet, from RUclips, Twitter, and Reddit that Hoyo should've at least aware of it's existence and popularity : and they haven't done anything to it... yet, which is interesting (but it's still scary to think that one day Hoyo may snapped and hunt down those who do mods and mass ban everyone who is found using mods)
By and large, they haven't acted because modding doesn't significantly hurt their bottom line (at the moment). If that ever does come to pass, I imagine they'll be more active with taking down mod-users, but until then I reckon we just enjoy it while we can.
The mods don't do anything. Sometimes it can actually boost sales funny enough. Like for instance, if I didn't want Navia before, the robin HSR mod would make me want to pull navia just to use her for example. Or make some units I don't want to use due to their design becomes more appealing through mods.

The console says it detects the game and everything seems fine, but there's ZERO presence of 3dmigoto in-game as if it totally failed to launch. And yeah DCR is still off, though I think that'd only make the custom models not work, not make the UI and everything related to 3dmigoto absent like this.

Unless you deleted it, it's there - the more likely case is that you've got file extensions hidden. As for why your mods aren't working, please refer to the "troubleshooting" section

You'll see the mods you have installed for any character, outside of a few specific cases (Fontaine AQ Childe and AQ Furina come to mind) so if you're in co-op with a friend, you'll see the mod you have over the character they're playing. Hope that makes sense!

It means that you shouldn't have to modify the gimi target path from "target = GenshinImpact.exe". It doesn't matter if it's in the default folder or not, you shouldn't have to modify it

At present, it's not something I'm planning to make considering I have little to no experience with, but if there's enough demand it's something I can POTENTIALLY look into. I believe someone in AGMG is looking at putting together a launcher for this, which should trivialise the process.

You still need to open 3dm before starting the game, or otherwise you won't have mods visible. GIMI doesn't modify game files, so it makes no lasting changes

Generally speaking, yes, but there may be some exceptions - for example, Childe in the Fontaine AQ doesn't generally have mods appear, as he uses a different model to his playable form (no vision). The only other exception that comes to mind is Furina, for similar reasons.
Question: If there's a new update, does the update turn off GIMI automatically or do I have to reinstall the mods or wait for an update on both mod and GIMI?
GIMI has historically worked on every version of Genshin without issue or required updates (v7 has been used for everything between 3.0 and 4.6). Mods may require an update, however. If you want to start the game without GIMI, which you may want just after an update, you can start the game normally - if you don't start 3dmloader before starting the game, you won't have mods loaded in the game.
i tried installing a neko wanderer mod but it has 2 parts to it, the ears and the no hat, but since i cant run them both at once the most he can have is no hat or ears, is there a fix to this?

Assuming I've got the correct interpretation of your question, you're asking how to alternate between mods for one character, correct? It's possible to make merged mods, where you can toggle the mods on a character with a button, but that goes beyond the scope of this guide. As per this guide, you'll need to choose the mod you like less, and add "DISABLED" to the front of the mod folder to disable it.

You don't have to have rolled a character in the gacha to apply a mod to them, no - a common occurence when a major story update (like 5.0) releases is that we see a lot of mods applied to the NPC versions of characters.
As far as I'm aware, the bans were temporary, but they would have happened in the very early days of modding, so I'm not 100% sure on that. Unfortunately, the early days of modding are a bit of a lost time.
@@tareq126 to my knowledge bans will be account based so yeah, if you get banned on PC you'll also lose access on your other platforms. That said, as outlined, nobody has yet been banned for modding with 3dm
The only difference is in the software you can use to extract it - a zip mod can be extracted using windows explorer, while a rar mod needs to be extracted using 7zip/WinZip/WinRAR
I am satisfied with all characters look till now, BUT EMILIE just failed absolutely! Although I like her gameplay, design is crap so only for her I would want trying mods. x.x
GIMI is opt-in - you need to run the 3dmloader.exe file every time you start the game, if you want to play with mods. If you don't want to play with mods, just start Genshin normally.

Realistically it can be installed in the same way, however bear in mind that the tools for this are still being worked on, so for now GIMI is limited to basic retextures and UI elements only
why does mine completely shuts down/snap after "now run the game" it was working fine last week all. And now hsr/genshin/zzz 3dmigoto keeps failing for me.
Yes, the game still runs normally, just with different character appearance. There's little difference between playing with or without mods in that regard
As far as I'm aware the only chest Finder mods that work with gimi are ones that make them comically tall or that change the colour of them. Are you trying to use mods like these?

u can change the in game key bindings in settings > key bindings, u can change the adventurer's handbook key bind. Not sure if this helps u

If the help menu appears when you press F1, it's likely the case that your mods have not been extracted.

There generally isn't too much of a performance hit, but if you're already struggling on PC it's probably not advisable

You mean if you right-click, it won't appear as an option? If you're on Win11, you may need to select the "more options" section when right clicking
Question: If there's a new update, does the update turn off GIMI automatically or do I have to reinstall the mods or wait for an update on both mod and GIMI?
GIMI has historically worked on every version of Genshin without issue or required updates (v7 has been used for everything between 3.0 and 4.6). Mods may require an update, however.
If you want to start the game without GIMI, which you may want just after an update, you can start the game normally - if you don't start 3dmloader before starting the game, you won't have mods loaded in the game.
i tried installing a neko wanderer mod but it has 2 parts to it, the ears and the no hat, but since i cant run them both at once the most he can have is no hat or ears, is there a fix to this?
should i combine them or?
I'd suggest reading the install instructions for the mod - there may be further information on what to do with the mod there

i got two mods for one character, and before installing the first one everything was normal. but once i installed the second one it glitched out. how do i separate the two mods so i can switch between them instead of them being merged together?
Assuming I've got the correct interpretation of your question, you're asking how to alternate between mods for one character, correct?
It's possible to make merged mods, where you can toggle the mods on a character with a button, but that goes beyond the scope of this guide. As per this guide, you'll need to choose the mod you like less, and add "DISABLED" to the front of the mod folder to disable it.

Private servers are by no means required for modding, though they're the only way to be 100% guaranteed safe
One question, do I have to have acharacter in my archives for me to be able to add a mod to it? if you know what I mean.
You don't have to have rolled a character in the gacha to apply a mod to them, no - a common occurence when a major story update (like 5.0) releases is that we see a lot of mods applied to the NPC versions of characters.

You mentioned there were a few bans of people who used skin mods but did not hide their uid in streams or videos. Were their bans temporary too?
As far as I'm aware, the bans were temporary, but they would have happened in the very early days of modding, so I'm not 100% sure on that. Unfortunately, the early days of modding are a bit of a lost time.

@@tareq126 to my knowledge bans will be account based so yeah, if you get banned on PC you'll also lose access on your other platforms.
That said, as outlined, nobody has yet been banned for modding with 3dm

If it's just a character mod, you can do it while genshin is running, just hit F10 once you're done to reload mods
i downloaded some mods from a discord, whats the difference between rar ans zip genshin mod?
The only difference is in the software you can use to extract it - a zip mod can be extracted using windows explorer, while a rar mod needs to be extracted using 7zip/WinZip/WinRAR

GIMI is opt-in - you need to run the 3dmloader.exe file every time you start the game, if you want to play with mods. If you don't want to play with mods, just start Genshin normally.
@@seventhfold4852 Don't you need to close anything? (note in the task manager) or after rebooting the PC/closing the genshin, if you do not run GIMI, then there will be an unmodified genshin, do I understand correctly?
@@Niroshik9119 if you want to play unmodified genshin, you just don't start GIMI when you start the game, correct. If you're currently playing modded but need to switch to unmodded for whatever reason, you'll need to restart the game, yes

Realistically it can be installed in the same way, however bear in mind that the tools for this are still being worked on, so for now GIMI is limited to basic retextures and UI elements only

Yes, the game still runs normally, just with different character appearance. There's little difference between playing with or without mods in that regard

As far as I'm aware the only chest Finder mods that work with gimi are ones that make them comically tall or that change the colour of them. Are you trying to use mods like these?
