- The Art Fair Guy visited World Art Dubai 2024. with 400 Exhibitors (Solo Artists & Galleries) from 65+ Countries, World Art Dubai has grown to become one of the largest Art Fairs for emerging artists in the World. This year's edition marked the 10th time the fair took place.
Due to the size and amount of artworks on display, we decided to focus on some of the Highlights and best curated booths of the Fair in this Video. This is not a full walkthrough video and does not cover all 400 exhibitors.

It is inevitable not to express what happens to us as human beings. It is very noticeable when a market pushes to sell a product or a type of product.
algo de arte decorativo, algo de arte ingenuo como el figurativo de comics y personajes famosos, no hay un relevante que levante las cejas, no hay una propuesta de gritar innovación, muy amable al que puso el video ya que es una información importante sobre lo que pasa en otras ciudades, y pensé que dubai por ser una ciudad adinerada tendría buen arte, pero parece que no, capaz en otras galerías y espacios de esa ciudad existan. Pero si son mucho mejor que algunos videos de exposiciones en NY o los angeles que el arte esta decayendo por alla, garcias a todos y disculpas a todos
Malevich's radical gesture is that with his black square he defeated the sun (a symbol of traditional culture). Over time, the square was transformed into a pixel and became the basis of all computer graphics. Postmodernity raised the square to the flag and began to deconstruct everything that was possible, in the end there was nothing left. It is being replaced by metamodernity and recognizes oscillation as the basis of all. The sun rises and sets. Многие, наверно, согласятся со мной, что эта выставка скорее декораторская, нежели художественная. Искусства в настоящем понимании этого слова - мало.
This is an affordable art fair exhibiting mostly emerging artists. There are many extremely talented artists at this fair. But of course - the quality is different than some of the top art fairs. However - it's also not the goal to copy these art fairs.

Art should speak, challenge, make the viewer think of things perhaps they'd never thought of before, almost like a trigger to something new. This is sadly lacking. It's all so 'Safe'.
Very true. There are many artworks that do this. I had the chance to speak to many artists at World Art Dubai and their stories were very much what you are hoping to see.
@@TheArtFairGuy So many "artists" but comparatively few with courage.
@@timcastle1844 Keep in mind that this art fair was held in Dubai, in the Middle East which has other laws and customs related to political, religious and sexual content than western countries.
@@TheArtFairGuy Fair point. Bot there are many art fairs not held in Dubai where I believe the objective of most of the art on display/for sale is like "Muzak" - safe but tedious. Just my worthless opinion because if they sell they are reaching the desired market and good for the Artists.
The dictates of the western art world may not apply here. They have different traditions and ideas. It's interesting to me to see what kind of western mannerisms they do experiment with here. I assume the very bright colours are traditionally preferred.
There was a strong graphic arts appearance to this show. I was able to notice some very progressive abstract compositions here and there. Maybe it's those smaller thoughtful peices that are providing us with some forgleams of the future.

Yes there were. Stolenkova Art displayed a set of smaller and interesting works.
Carolina Hollinger showed us some progressive ideas.
The Mohamed Mehi space presented some unique center weighted works.
As most artists know, working with center weighted design is challenging.
I also wanted to mention the works at Batool Jafari space. I thought that the combination of the figural and the semi - abstract elements was very successful. Quite different from the pseudo - realistic faces so often seen splashed with paint and glitter.

Interesting choices of media-are they mostly acrylics?? Everything is so bouncy and shiny. Or were there other stalls not included?
There were other stalls not included but the exhibition in general was very colourful.

@@elastiekjeelastiekje7071 we exhibited with our gallery, Bakerhouse Gallery, and sold quite a few works and we're very happy.

Art fairs.......the lowest end of the art world. Walmart of wall art, be it LA or Dubai, ssdd.

Merci beaucoup c'est très intéressant et çà correspond exactement à l'image que l'on se fait du goût artistique de Dubaï. Dommage qu'il n'y ai pas de visiteurs (heures de fermeture ?) Regarder la population qui visite ces foires (Bâle, Tokyo, Miami, NY ...) est toujours aussi instructif que les oeuvres.
We made the Video before the opening hours 🙂In total there where 20.000 visitors and it was a great art fair with many sales.
I think this is a good documentary, it can inspire artists

Agreed…This is almost, meaningless, and says: “ if you have no taste , but have a little money, come and waste here”.
Makes the point the art in Dubai is just a lousy as in Paris/ New York. Lots of gimmicks, very little originality and a color pallet with most that strain justification. Sad state of affairs for an art world searching for credibility/status.
