My wife and I are neighbors of the Fox Hill Bruderhof Community in Walden; they give back so much to the larger community!! We've enjoyed many of the free events they host at the farm. And they donate to the local community all the time!!! They are great neighbors to have!!
Thank you for sharing your experience! It's beautiful to see that just by living out their conviction and connecting with those of us who are curious, the Bruderhof is able to demonstrate and be a living example of how to live more like the new testament church. It's true we are not all called to be apart of the Bruderhof, but imagine if we all lived with the heart that they have; being led by the Holy Spirit, trusting God for our needs, loving our neighbour, submitting ourselves to one another humbly. Wow, The Church could really be that Salt and Light that we're meant to be!
Thank you so much for sharing your perspective about your visit to the Bruderhof. I have been feeling called to this lifestyle ever since I heard of the Bruderhof and am moving towards visiting this summer I pray that your medical issues are resolved positively and you are able to fulfill your desire to serve in whatever capacity you are called to. May God bless you both.
@@cityhomestead4490 I'm not sure yet. But, initially, a week or two. Then, following further discernment, if I think that I am truly called to that lifestyle, several months, if I may.
This is the first time I've heard that Bruderhof members need to be called by the Holy Spirit to this lifestyle. I've heard them talk about a call but where was it suppose to come from? I believe the Holy Spirit is the key to any decision we make as a Christian. Hopefully all Bruderhof communities are lead by the Holy Spirit.
That was very helpful for me. I wouldn't find living in community an easy thing. And I see the women wearing scarves and long skirts and that troubles me. Just as the lady said. But I was glad to hear she observed the people were normal, which I didn't expect to hear.
Of course; health is not a criterion for visiting - or ending a visit; in fact our communities have a strong basis for care. (more about that here: www.bruderhof.com/en/life-in-community/caring-for-each-other ) Kim and Wayne opted to move on to make some long-term health decisions.
I love her story. But, because of the health issues, they have to leave. So, health issue require you to leave the community. But, if your part of the community, I thought they helped with health issues?

And that she was wearing jeans in her home.. That clip helped me realize that I wouldn't have to wear skirts all the time
