    That tip about chipping is really cool. Love seeing the little intricacies of competitive powerlifting on display, since for most it's typically a me against myself going for a PR type of mentality rather than strategic attempts in order to beat the competition.

    You're a monster buddy. Those judges got me good in 2019 on depth sitting way behind. Should of done the walk out method you suggest.

    Would be very curious what helped you get back to benching! I've been lifting for 13 years and a couple of months ago couldn't reliably bench 40kg, it's a real kick in the nuts when doing meet prep!

    I have a question I hope you can help me with. I have really liked and appreciated your content/feedback within the community. How would you adjust training during periods of high cognitive and/or physical stress? Training was going very well for me and then I entered the second year of my PhD and all hell has broken loose.

    That was great. You definitely had 395 and probably 400+ on this day (DL). Bench was still good even though you actually had to try on that lift. Bench has always kind of been your achilles heel. Although when you bench over 185 can you really call it an achilles heel?

      Open world record is the common terminology referring to a record set in a given weight class. That’s why we don’t call it “heaviest deadlift ever”. It’s just following the commonly accepted language.

      Yeah no worries. “Open” refers to the age category, if you’re wondering in the future. Open means age 23-39 (in the IPF) and usually denotes what people consider the most competitive group, and then all records and competitions are organized within given weight classes.

      Because they are cumbersome. The IPF and affiliates are trying to get powerlifting in the Olympics and the olympic committee wants minimal equipment.

    Thor might have been untested, with straps, and in a suit. But Bryce pulled sumo which makes Thors lift way more impressive because 400kg sumo is about as hard as 180kg conventional.
