The c64 version is an actual port, as the c64 has the same processor as the nes. so the only change is the graphics.

Generally these projects are very old or people couldn't finish it
My favorite is the Atari one because that thing was _not_ made for games like that, so it's by far the most impressive.

The fact that the SMD and C64 versions weren’t remakes as much as ports of the original code to other platforms make those the best of the bunch.
