CONGRATS RICH!!! Thank you for saving another kitty cat from the scrap heap. As a Cat guy it breaks my heart to see these fine running specimens going to scrap before their time. If the HEUI system gives you any trouble cranking when the temps are cold, Cat actually recommends that 10/30 oil since it runs a little thinner when it's cold. In Missouri I haven't seen much difference but in the cold confines of Canada it might help the pump out, especially with the extra filter that your running. I know that the response of the pump is much better when the temps drop with the thinner oil.
Don't worry about it not starting right back up, it has to build injection control pressure. Those HUEI systems will do that until you get them to operating temp and run them down the road to get all the air bubbles out of the oil side of the injection system. Nice build I love your videos.

Well done on getting this far with the build, you and your channel have come a long way over the years, you all should be very proud
Some useless information, your fuel supply will always run back when its not running if the return isnt hooked up right let alone not at all, diesels are designed this way
No need for a check valve in the supply but the return must, (I'll put that in capitals) MUST return to the bottom of the tank thru a tube from the top of tank
The reason been it siphons fuel up from the the return to keep the prime when fuel runs back, this is what diesels are designed to do
If your loosing prime when its not running the return line has a leak, if you loose prime when it's running its the supply which everyone knows
The easiest way to check for leaks in either side of the fuel supply is a piece of rubber inner tube hose clamped over the inlet and wind the shop compressor right down as low as it goes and pressurize the system slightly
So why does the return go to the bottom of the tank, to maintain the prime when the tank is nearly empty
Why they go down a pipe inside the tank instead of returning on the outside to the bottom of the tank Im not sure
Perhaps you or your viewers know ?
That's the nice thing about diesels. You only need fuel and air to start, or at least that used to be the case.
