We have used hog panels or welded wire fencing bent into hoops between rows and using T fence posts for strength as climbing material for squash, cucumbers and beans. It works well. Kind of like an arbor - you can walk inside and pick.
You can mix the patty pan and the beans on the hog panel walk way. It will give a more full look. If you dont like beets try cutting them up and baking them in the oven with carrots or slice them thin like a potato chip. You might like them that way.
Strawberry-Rhubarb Pie is the best. Sweetness of the strawbs with the tart rhubarb....Marigolds will keep mean bugs away; we always interplanted those with the veggies.... recycle cardboard for your walking between rows and earthworms will live underneath it and love it... keeps the weeds and mud down too... (or newspapers) I liked keeping a daily garden journal to refer to , notes about what went good, what went wrong... draw up a little plan... yields at harvest, etc... weather notes, frosts, rain, yadda yadda… helps for next year! Tie some old CD's on strings to flash in the sun and chase the birds and critters away. I LOVE the primitive trellis idea. We built a pea fence with bamboo and some branches... Its awesome what you can do with natural materials... Corn, beans and squash grow well together so you can grow both the squash and beans on the trellis! If the corn doesn't like being transplanted, put a few kernels down with each plant as insurance... Try Rainbow Triple Ten fertilizer, got a bunch of trace minerals that they love. Use ten foot poles for the tomatoes, tie them with soft fabric ties as they grow...They will get bigger than you think! Where's the garlic? Raid the fridge.... :-) We grew Rattlesnake Pole Beans, very beautiful and very tall! We never had much luck with Brussels Sprouts. Sorry I wrote a book, but commenting as the video went on. GREAT work, great garden... looking forward to watching the progress and challenges and innovation. Stay safe and have fun! Great to see you again.
I also bought the black zebra cherry tomato from Hoss tools, mine are still in the tray and I am hoping to plant them in the next couple weeks. They would look amazing on the trellis especially if you arch it Your place looks amazing. You can tell you’ve put in a lot of work.
Ya, so roll the cattle fence up and u can transport it no problem. I'm not starting my garden till June. But then again u got a sweet ghouse. Thanks for sharing...
This has got me so hungry. You've really have things spread out looks good, I use to have problems with rabbits especially with the beans cats took care of them. I think why not try a couple of ways primitive and trellis. How much you think you might be able to can? My niece has had for several years Wild Turkeys coming in her yard pecking around and she will through out food for them and it's gotten where when she opens her door they'll hoof it right up to the door, makes the cats scatter funny as hell. Really looking forward to see how things turn out. Y'all take care.
Something primitive would be nice to look at all year long. Because you have shared so many amazing cooking ideas, I must share with you strawberry rhubarb freezer jam. So simple to make. So very good to eat.
2 1/2 cups each, strawberries and rhubarb Finelly chopped 3 cups sugar Mix well , refridge over night. Boil for 10 mins, Add a package of strawberry hello. Stir till it thickens Jar it Freeze it Enjoy it. Fantastic on homemade biscuits!
I like the primitive look better. I would go with the pole beans all i plant anymore bush type for me take up to much space. Many years ago when i was a kid we grow patty pan squash dont remember it being much of a climber it may have been and i just forgot.
I did harden them off. I am going to overhead water as i dont have drip irrigation yet. I have some soaker hose as well, so may incorporate that too. Next year for drip

I think a primitive arch with pole beans is pretty as well as tasty! Your garden is coming along nicely!
They know how to bend those panels to fit into a pickup truck , I saw them doin’ it the last two times I was at Tractor Supply
Looks great brother
Thanks for the video

I tried at Tractor supply to see if the panle would roll up enough to get in the bed of my pickup. didnt seem like it would really.
Number one like allways .
Thanks for the tour. I'm doing the same but on a much smaller 1/3 acre scale

Keep it simple. If it’s easy and works, it’ll stay easy
Love the videos. I’m using your knowledge here in upper Michigan
I think you should go with the primitive design.

Not sure if you're into wild edibles but you van eat the dandelions. I wash them, shake in a baggie with flour and fry in garlic butter. Yummy!
Yup, ive done that as well

Thanks bud. Its a squash so they have to be trained/guided to climb
Did you spend any time hardening off the plants before you planted them outside? How are you watering your garden?
I did harden them off. I am going to overhead water as i dont have drip irrigation yet. I have some soaker hose as well, so may incorporate that too. Next year for drip
